Moonlight Densetsu ムーンライト伝説 [Moonlight Legend] is of course the opening theme song for the first four series of the Sailor Moon anime (before being replaced by Sailor Star Song).

The song appears to be about the repeating romance of Usagi and Mamoru across time and it is a well beloved and adored song by most Sailor Moon fans. Within the series it makes a few appearances including during Super Beryl's battle with Princess Serenity at the end of the first series, a slow instrumental played from the Orgel and also over the credits of the final episode of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars. It often made appearances at various fan kashas and even appeared on the SeraMyu album "Eternal Edition 2". Outside the series it has been covered by various pop idols, include Nana Kitade. Even people connected to the series have performed their own versions such as Aya Hisakawa [voice of Sailor Mercury], Megumi Ogata [voice of Sailor Uranus] and even Kikuko Inoue [voice of Sailor Aluminum Seiren].

For the first two series it was performed by DALI. For the third and fourth it was performed by the Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Mars from the musical "Usagi - Ai no Senshi e no Michi" under the name Moon Lips.

This is one of my personal all time favourite songs and brings up so many emotions for me!

I love Moonlight Densetsu during S and SuperS season. I love how up beat it is! Don't get me wrong I love the Classic and R version. It's just the S and SuperS version sounded more cheerful.

I wish I knew Japanese just so I could sing along.
