This new app has taken the gamers I know by storm. It's a real world Pokémon catching game, encouraging you to get up and go catch Pokémon.

I just downloaded it, haven't gotten to really play with it do to traveling, but later tonight I'm gonna try it out

Any one else playing?

I AM. When the servers aren't down, I have a lot of fun with just catching stuff around the house. There are like three gyms around the corner and down the street from me, and two of them are controlled by Team Instinct (The team I picked at Level 5). The last one is the Blue team, but they have a scary Poliwrath guarding it right now.   

 I've evolved a Pidgeot and Raticate so far ^^

I downloaded it and had a great time playing for about 10 minutes, but unfortunately the next time I tried logging in it gave me an error message, and it hasn't stopped since (I've been checking every so often) ;-;

I'll try my best to get it fixed though--it looked really fun to play!

Yeah, seems like they got far more people playing than they anticipated. Hopefully the out pouring of support will show them how much we love it and pour money into it

I love it! I got to play this morning and there is sooo much at my work. There are 2 gyms at work and 4 Pokestops. Even the church next door to my apartment has 3 Pokestops.

I don't have the app yet, but will get it once I upgrade my phone. What are pokestops, though?

My husband is right next to me and just cough a Weedle and I can't even try to search for it because servers are down on android >_>


And as I write this post he just cough a Paras...... *cries*

Pokestops are specific places on the map you can visit to get Poke balls and other items.

I went to a mall, no Pokémon in side, but 5 pokestops, so at least once I do get more Pokémon I'll have the means to catch them XD

Android is being super weird. I have only caught one and can't seem to find any more at all.

maybe it's your phone or the server, a lot of people are having issues off and on. Although I had a lot of luck tonight :\ only a few minor hiccups

I did get this! However the servers were acting strange for my brother and I too. Imm not sure what I think of the art style. And I have a story about my name. So when I got to the point where I needed a name, I tried my real name. Not available for whatever reason, even though it's pretty uncommon. I try WHAT, pleasestop, and Janeausten. All taken somehow. Looking around my room for inspiration, I see this shirt I have for Disneyworld's Twilight Zone inspires ride, The Tower of Terror. I go, "Why not?!" And put in Rodsterling (I know it's supposed to be Rod SERling now...) and IT FREAKING WORKED. So I hope we can change our names later on.

I'm playing it, but as everyone else has said it isn't very stable at the moment. Even so, I've had fun with the amount I have played of it so far! I am looking forward to continued improvements, etc.

@NQS: I had no idea you were even INTO Pokemon...   HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO GET ALL THE POKEMON YOU HAVE SO FAR 

Which team did you end up going with?

I've heard that the servers are clogged to holy hell, so I'm probably gonna wait till they get that settled out.

Though I've heard some strange stories about where the pokespots are located. Do you have to have a specific IOS version/update to run it?

Just sitting in a Walmart parking lot, I caught a Pidgeot and a Drowsee! And discovered a PokeStop not too far away!

I really want to play, but I still can't get in! It just loads and loads without logging me in and/or eventually gives me an error message.

Nooooo. I was going to take a picture of me eating dinner with a Pidgey, but I accidentally closed it while trying to take a screen shot. And, then Pidgey was gone by the time I came back. He must be camera shy.

I went to a mall/ busy area and drove around, I never run out of pokeballs, since there are so many pokestops around.

Does anyone know if its available in Canada yet, or just the USA?

^ Unfortunately, it has not been released in Canada yet.  The company has only said it's "coming soon", so there aren't any specific dates for release either. Currently, the app is only available in the US, Australia, and New Zealand.

I call shenanigans! They always release in Canada at the same time!

Considering how many people are clogging the system right now, I'm not surprised they have to roll it out slowly so the servers aren't permanently down.

Who prepares to get over 50,000 users on opening day? Lol. There were 50,000 downloads in approximately 24 hours in the Google Play Store. That doesn't even account for however many downloaded in the Apple Store.

Because pokemon is globally popular?

I am just arguing to cut them some slack. They became the number one free app within the first 5 hours. Even if their IT was prepared for a global phenomenon, that's a huge amount of people in a short amount of time. I am soooo not jealous of those that maintaimed the IT infrastructure for this thing.
