Advanced Character Profile
Character Name: Reika Nakashima (Her given name literally means "lovely petal")
Gender: Female
Age and Date of Birth: 18 / May 3rd
Appearance: Reika stands at about 160 cm and has long wavy hair the color of red wine. She usually keeps it up in a ponytail with a pink bow. Her eyes are blue, the color of sapphires. She has a very feminine style and prefers to wear long flowing dresses in various shades of pastel colors. As a whole, her body type tends to be on the small side (which she tries to make up for with her ‘big’ hair).
Personality: Reika is, simply put, a hopeless romantic. She’s that girl you find staring with hearts in her eyes at every gorgeous guy that happens to pass by, the one who immediately thinks of her dream wedding with said guy and what dress she’s going to wear on the big day before he even knows she exists. She’s not afraid to dream big despite the fact that her experience in relationships is actually… well… quite nonexistent. At the age of 18, Reika has yet to have her first kiss, or even having a guy showing any interest in her.
It’s due in no small part to her shyness around boys. Sure, she has all these dreams, but put her in front of an actual guy and she’d be tongue-tied and anxious and running to the nearest hiding place. She’s confident and easily likable with friends and smart in academics but when it comes to guys she’s absolutely useless. Which is the most ironic thing of all, because it’s the only department she cares to be good at. Her friends don’t get this; they keep telling her she should act just like she does around them with guys but Reika simply can’t. It’s
different! With guys she doesn’t have feelings for, she can treat them just like any other friend. But the moment she feels something for someone, everything changes. It’s like her words disappear from her tongue, her brain comes to a halt, and everything fall apart. As such, even when someone might be interested in her, they would think she doesn’t return the feeling because of how she pulls away.
Despite her small frame, Reika is pretty athletic. She’s pretty good at sports that depend on agility and speed (her size actually helps with that), and she’s quite popular with the girls at school. It’s unusual for a popular girl to be so inexperienced or puzzling to the male student body population, but Reika is that anomaly in her school.
Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Reika is an excellent runner. She doesn’t do well on marathons because her stamina doesn’t allow her to run for that long, but she’s a great sprinter. Put her on short distance running competitions and she will always end up winning first place. She also has quite the green thumb. One of her hobbies is gardening, and it seems no matter what kind of flower she tries to plant, they always bloom beautifully. Her house and garden is full of colorful flowers all courtesy of her care.
History: The first eighteen years of Reika’s life is fairly normal. She grows up in the beautiful and prosperous city of Crystal Tokyo, among a family who loves her. Her mother is a teacher and her father is a doctor, both doing good services for the community. She has a little sister, Misaki, whom she’s very close to and is two years younger than her. Ever since she was little, Reika loved hearing the fairy tales her mother always read to her before bed. She particularly loved the ones about princesses and princes and how they lived happily ever after. Love stories had always been her favorite. She devoured romance movies and romance novels like nobody else. She couldn’t remember how long ago she decided her lifetime goal would be finding her own prince charming and having her own happily ever after.
Perhaps it was because she grew up surrounded by love that it was so easy for her to give them in return. She loved being among friends and her friends loved her for her bright outlook on life and generosity. But the one love Reika was missing in her life was the romantic one. And it was one that continued to be elusive to her even long after her friends had started dating and getting their own boyfriends. One time, she tried to write a love letter to a boy in her class whom she had had a crush on for a long time, but after getting a friend to tell him to meet her after school, she couldn’t go through with it. She just stood there behind the wall, trembling as she watched him waiting for her, and eventually ran away because she was too scared. It made no sense. She didn’t understand it herself; why it was this way for her when it was so easy to talk to other people.
Reika wondered if there was a way to ‘fix’ herself. If there was some magical solution that would make her confident to say her true feelings to those she loved. She had always particularly envied the relationship of their queen and king—how they were like one of those fairy tale couples she had always read about. She even considered a few times to pay a visit to the royal palace and see if the queen would impart some wisdom to help with her problem… but she always dismissed the foolish notion. Queen Lady Serenity was busy with real problems and serious matters; she would not have time for a little girl’s trivial question. Especially lately, when it seemed they were facing a serious crisis. Nevertheless, Reika still felt a strange longing toward the royal family and wished one day she could find the happiness that they, too, had found.
Little did she know that her wish to be a bit closer to them might soon be fulfilled in the strangest and most unexpected way…

Guardian: N/A
RP Sample: She was so close. Just a few more steps and she’d be in his view. Her hands trembled, gripping the letter too hard. It was already damp from her sweat.
This is ridiculous. You can do this. Just walk a couple more steps and give him the letter. You don’t even have to say anything. She tried to move her feet—she really did. But it was like they refused her brain’s commands. She remained rooted in the spot, unable to go back or forward.
Reika stared helplessly at the boy who had been haunting her dreams for the past few weeks. Kazuya was a nice guy, she knew that. He would not embarrass her. Even if he didn’t feel the same way, he would let her down easy. All that mattered was that she tried.
But she couldn’t. The fear—the irrational fear—was paralyzing her. As much as she wanted to fight against it, she felt completely powerless. It made no sense. She could talk easily to anyone, gain everyone’s love without trying, except the only person she had romantic feelings for. Then they became her weakness. A paralyzing weakness.
Reika tried to breathe, but she couldn’t. Even that had become a struggle. Finally, her feet moved, but on the other direction. She briefly considered throwing the letter Kazuya’s way, but that would just be rude and stupid. So she did the only thing she could do.
She ran, as fast as her feet could carry her.
Hating herself and her cowardice all the way home.
