| I'm fairly newish to watching the musicals. I watched Summer 2003 Starlights Ryuusei Densetsu, 2003 Winter Mugen Gakuen Kaiteiban, plus the first musical and the Stars one of the first Moon, Anza. I think its a good start, but I'm curious if I should just watch them in order by year or just watch them randomly. |

| To be honest, I just watched them randomly until a while ago. It would be awesome to watch them in order, however for a while now YouTube has taken down videos(Seems as though they take anything Sailor Moon-related down ._.) of some musicals so that was probably when I started watching randomly. It doesn't take long but you could also look up the musicals by year and watch the ones you find? That's what I do now |

| Yeah i think thats what I'm going to do.
Btw! If you want to download the musicals, you can try http://www.sailormoonfansubs.com/
It is a good source for torrents of just about anything Sailor Moon, but most for the musicals as they one time fansubbed some. You do have to create an account and post at least. They seem like a nice group, but i have heard about drama from time to time, so i kind of stayed away. But I still use them to occasionally to download the musicals and I'll let it seed for the other users on there. ^^ |

| I must confess, I can not bring myself to watch the musicals. In general, musicals make me cringe. But more so, I already have seen the Sailor Moon characters portrayed in three separate ways -- anime, manga and live action -- I do not think I could handle a fourth. XD I may give it a try some day though! |

| I don't know why but I really really enjoy the musicals. I guess I'm a sucker for musicals. I love all the Disney musical movies and I adore several broadway musicals like Phantom of the Opera, etc. Some of the songs are corny and in the beginning the costumes and wigs aren't that good. But some of the acting and singing is outstanding! I've also fallen in love with some of the songs too. Watching a performance of Sailor War Supreme gives me chills. |

That's how I always get suckered into these things. Hehe. OKAY. This is Sailor War Supreme from 1997'Winter Special Musical ~Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars -Kaiteiban-. It features my favorite Moon actress, Anza Ōyama. This has subtitles but is poor quality. https://youtu.be/rO5U2Pg7aZo This is a non-subtitle better quality version of Sailor War Supreme from the 1996 Sailor Stars Musical. https://youtu.be/VZe3a_yDQb4 These are the first two I could think of off the top of my head since Sailor War Supreme is my favorite song. Now I want to go and rewatch some and find you good moments.^_^ |

| It's really up to you how to watch them. Most of them don't have continuity between them (in fact, trying to assume that there is continuity just makes them frustrating to watch) so you really can just watch them randomly. However, I chose to watch them in order and I highly recommend doing so if you have the time and dedication for it. It's really awesome to watch the production values develop over time, and to watch the younger actresses grow up. There's also lots of little inside jokes from earlier musicals in the later ones that you won't get if you haven't seen all of them.
There is one exception, however! The musicals with Miyuki Kanbe as Sailor Moon do have continuity and need to be watched in order for the story to make sense.
My favorite of the musicals is Black Lady <3 R was always my favorite arc, but the musical itself is really amazing. Great story, great cast (except for that Jupiter, oh god), and the original version even features the first ever Chibi Moon as Black Lady!
Also, if you need a reason to watch the musicals, Hikari Ono. Seriously. |

| Oh, and just for comparison-
The opening of the first musical and the opening of the last musical.
Beryl's theme in the first musical (the notorious Christmas Tree Beryl. Also, Mamoru on a cross?) and the last musical to feature Queen Beryl.
Bear in mind that I'm only talking about production values here. Yuri Nishina was a brilliant Beryl, and all the musicals had pretty good casts. Either way, it's stuff like that that makes me love watching them in order xD They grow so much! |

| Oh yeah! I've actually seen the first musical and the last one that features Beryl. So I've definitely seen the difference in productions. So far I really like the first musical cause I think the singing is amazing! Especially Anza Moon. |

| The singing sounds so good because the whole show was lip-synched xD But Anzamoon was awesome. Here she is live- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcEaO67CgAQ
I loved that Star Fighter ; -; It's a shame she practically disappeared off the face of the Earth after that show (perhaps she returned to Kinmoku? lol). Apparently and the Pluto from those shows are still friends though. |

| Oh yeah, I know most of the shows are lip-synced. I never know which ones are live though. If you've ever been to http://moon-chase.blogspot.com/ they keep up tabs with actors of the anime, pgsm, and the musicals. I know they have tags you can click on for various actors. Maybe they have something on that Star Fighter. ^_^ |

| LOVELOVELOVE Moon Chase. They haven't done as many updates on actors besides the English Dub ones recently, but it's a sweet news source <3 Blogs are also a good way to keep track of the actors, after the earthquake I was stalking all the blogs I could find to make sure everyone was ok ; -; |

Btw, here's a good way to get me to watch a musical. Is there one you would suggest me to watch? I already listed the ones I've watched from my first post. That way you could just force me to watch them and come back to you with my opinion. XD |

| Though the early shows did lip-sync the songs, the actresses did do the actual recording of the songs so you can get a good idea of the quality of their voices. It's just that they didn't have to sing and dance at the same time. lol They started singing the songs live in the 1996 Spring Special Musical Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon SuperS (Kaiteiban) Yume Senshi - Ai - Eien ni... Saturn Fukkatsu Hen, so everything after that is live aside from the occasional song during the credits or some of the after-show service songs. I would strongly recommend you watch 'em from beginning to end because, as posters above had said, you reeeeeally get a great feel for how the costuming and staging matured along with the cast. Each stage has something special to offer. On youTube, sailorwarsupreme has all the musicals through 2001 subtitled which makes a good starting place. I actually saw a Myuki-moon musical first via the old VHS tapes you could occasionally find on eBay. I loved it, but I had no idea what they were saying 'cause I don't know much Japanese. lol So when I found the subbed stuff on youTube, I was thrilled!! If you really don't want to see 'em all in order, I'd suggest the one above, Yume Senshi (Kaiteiban) if you like the Dead Moon Circus arc. The Amazon Trio are a HOOT! lol Sailor Stars or Eien Densetsu are good if you're a Three Lights/Stars arc fan. The Dracul musicals are great if you like an original plot with vampires and other fun stuff. Black Lady is great if you like that particular manga arc. |

I love the Black Lady musical! Black Moon Signal is one of the most sinister songs in the entire Myu run. And regarding a later post about Star Fighter in First Stage - I loved her too! I wish she had done more. I haven't watched the later Stars musical because I love First Stage Star Lights so much. I'm afraid they wouldn't live up to the original three. Who is everyone's favorite Moon? Myself, I would pick Anza. I love her to death. She's so talented, I love how strong her voice is and how she definitely encapsulates Usagi's fighter persona. |

There's two different versions each of all three of those; in my personal opinion you can't go wrong but let me know if you want my preferences anyway xD - arashi wrote:

Myself, I would pick Anza. I love her to death. She's so talented, I love how strong her voice is and how she definitely encapsulates Usagi's fighter persona. The second stage Starlights are actually pretty good! A lot of people don't like them because they're not played for laughs and don't have the awesome comedic chemistry that Sayuri/Hikari/Chika had, but they're actually really talented and not a bad option if you wanted a version of the Starlights that's closer to their anime/manga personalities. My favorite Moon is Marina. Haters gonna hate, I know. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE all four of them and respect the good qualities that each actress brought to the character. I just enjoy Marina the most... I think the main reason is that you get to watch her grow up throughout the musicals and various arcs. If you watch her musicals in order, it's really touching to watch Marina develop her talents and grow into a lovely young lady- just like Usagi. Because of that, I think she had a personal connection to Usagi that none of the other actresses really reached. Also, I kind of like that her voice isn't perfect xD It reminded me of Kotono's singing in Usagi's image songs for the anime soundtracks. Just to show Marina's development- compare her debut performance to her solo on her last day. |

| I have to say, I really adore Marina too. I think looks wise, she fits Usagi/Moon really well. She has a cute young face, but i didn't realize she was so young in her first performance. Someone stated she was 12. o_o;
I just kind of perferred Anza's voice when it comes to singing. Since i've only watched stuff from 1st stage and 4th stage, i've compared Marina and Anza a lot. I can definitely tell the difference when I'm listening to an Anza version of a song compared to a Marina. But her voice isn't terrible either. Marina's is softer. |

| SeraMyu is hands down my favourite version of Sailor Moon.
Favourite musicals would be "Shin Densetsu Kourin" "Kessen / Transylvania no Mori - (NOT The Kaiteiban)" and "Eien Densetsu Kaiteiban".
Seeing different portrayals of the characters we are familiar with is one of my favourite parts of Myu. We get to see a funny Setsuna, a doubting Haruka, an Ami that teases, a sinister laughing Minako. It even varies within itself, a feminine Galaxia and one Galaxia that seems to have forgotten she's a woman. ^^ Its just so much fun to see people take the characters into their own hands. I suggest to watch them in order personally.

| I started watching the musical a few weeks ago on sera Myu antics. Lol I was skeptical at first cuz of the costumes and those horrid wigs, but as it progressed I found myself HOOKED. I was loving every second of it! But I take it that they aren't all on seramyuantics so I was wondering where I can find them all. Id like to watch them in order. I loved the actresses specially the one that plays Usagi and the one that played Ami. I don't know their names sorry, but it's from act 1. (whatever that means ) I've only watched Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen and SailorMoonS Usagi · Ai no Senshi he no Michi |
