Character Name: Selena DeLune
Gender: Female
Age and Date of Birth: 1,023 (immortal, appears 26) / September 1st
Used Canons: 90's Anime, Manga
Appearance: During the Silver Millennium, Selena was known for her tremendous amount of beauty. Her long, silver hair extended to the small of her back, spiraling in beautiful, natural curls. Her eyes shimmer a unique icy blue, and her skin is pale and fair. She reaches a medium height of 5'6", and she has a very thin figure. The shape of her body is always upright, constantly held in the best possible posture. She has a small nose and thin, pink lips that contrast with her pale complexion. She wears dresses of white and silver shades, always making sure that her gown reaches her toes. Her signature gown that she always wears to special occasions is a glamourous silver shade, with a strapless, sequined sweetheart bodice. The skirt is long and fluffy, and has a sequined lace overlay. Selena's long hair is typically down, and she wears a light amount of make-up (the occasional mascara and pink gloss). For comfort, she normally sticks with silver sandals and little jewelry. The trademark golden crescent moon of the Royal Moon Family shines on her forehead.
After her discovery of dark magic, Selena's appearance changed drastically. She became a much more racy, confident young woman. The pale skin and thin figure remained, but her hair became stock-straight, still reaching the small of her back. The color changed from silver to black, and her icy blue eyes became dark and empty. Her clothing style consisted only of black. She mainly wears a black, tight-fitting leather dress that reaches her mid-thigh. The long sleeves are cut out, as well as the bottom of the dress on the left side. Leather heels that strap all the way up to her knees adorn her feet, and she wears a long, silver chain necklace. Her make-up is heavy, consisting mainly of a black color palette. Her eyeliner is winged, and her eye shadow gives her a smoky eye appearance. Bright red lipstick is always on her lips, contrasting with her pale skin but matching her bright red nails. The golden crescent moon that is on her forehead is gone, replaced by a black star.
Personality: Before her banishment, Selena was a very kindhearted, gracious person. She was always smiling and helping others, providing care and support to those in need. She never turned down a cry for help, and often got herself into trouble because of this. She was very outgoing and sociable, never fearing a conversation with a stranger. In her eyes, everyone was capable of something great, and everyone deserved a second chance. She was like a puppy when it came to her older sister, always following her around and trying to be exactly like her. Despite all of Selena's grand efforts to keep her people happy, she was often ignored and placed in the shadows. Because of this, her optimistic personality slowly began to fade into the opposite. She became jealous of her older sister's fame and favor, and her concern over who gained the throne was constantly an issue. She became hateful and quiet, always glaring at her family and staying behind whenever they went to a public event. As she entered adulthood, this spiteful personality only grew worse, and when her sister assumed the throne, it was worse than ever. The young, cheerful girl was never seen again - only the one filled with anger and loathing. She is terrified of storms and getting close to people.
Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Selena is capable of wielding the Silver Crystal because of her bloodline. However, she does not possess it. Her knowledge of magic is very immense, and she is able to wield it to great extents. Whether it be controlling the elements to getting into the deep caverns of someone's mind, Selena is capable of practically anything. However, this ability is rather weak without the power of the Silver Crystal. When in the presence of the Silver Crystal, she gains tremendous strength. She is extremely flexible, and has very quick reflexes.
History: Selena Aurora Crescent DeLune was born second to the original king and queen of the Moon. She grew up under the wise advisory of her parents and older sister, Princess Serenity Celestia Crystal DeLune. Younger by only two years, Selena never let this age gap bring her and her sister apart. Selena was always following Serenity around, asking questions and trying to be just as perfect as her sister. Throughout her childhood, Selena learned many things about what being a princess was all about from her family, and upon entering her teen years, used her knowledge to help her kingdom. While her sister was busy arranging events and dealing with galaxy affairs, Selena was out and about in the Moon Kingdom, helping those who needed it and granting her kindness and selflessness to all. Her good deeds were often talked about by the subjects of the Moon, but never as much as the hard work of her older sister. Despite her lack of credit, Selena never stopped helping others and putting her people before herself.
The first king and queen of the Moon died when Selena was fifteen. They had traveled to Earth to try and resolve a conflict between the Earth and Mars, but were killed by a group of vigilantes thinking they were the Martian Royal Family. The death of her parents was extremely hard on Selena, and at the hormonal age of fifteen, she found it difficult to cope. Her sister, on the other hand, never reacted. She always wore the same stoic, wise expression, only smiling when required to. Her body moved, but her face hardly did.
The day her sister turned eighteen was the day everything changed for Selena. At the age of sixteen, Selena was going through a rough time when it came to her self-confidence and optimism. She was constantly comparing herself to her older sister, in subjects such as beauty, grace, kindness, love, fame, intelligence, and practically everything else Serenity excelled at. On Serenity's eighteenth birthday, Selena realized that all of her hard work and dedication would mean absolutely nothing when Serenity was crowned queen. Feeling like she deserved the right to be queen, Selena began to challenge Serenity in every field she could. Serenity noticed this strange change in her sister, but said nothing. Selena continued to fight for the throne, but Serenity was crowned nonetheless. On her 20th birthday, Queen Serenity the First became the new ruler of the Silver Millennium. Angry and upset, Selena did not attend the coronation.
As soon as Selena hit eighteen, she disappeared from the Moon, not saying any form of good-bye to anyone. Travelling through the endless realm that was space, Selena met millions of people and learned many different things. She was exposed to thoughts, abilities, and ideas that she never dreamed would even be possible. Her mind was expanded to all new horizons, and her understanding of the universe grew with each new planet she visited. She didn't return home until five years later, when she heard the news that her older sister had given birth.
Upon hearing this news, Selena grew furious. With this new child in the picture, she would never get her rightful place upon the silver throne, and she would never get to hold the Imperium Silver Crystal in her hands. The grand amount of training and studying she had taken part in throughout the last five years had strengthened her in many different ways, and the complete and utter fury coursing through her veins only increased this strength.
Determined to confront her sister, Selena headed back to her home, intent on nothing but revenge.
The presentation of Princess Serenity Selena DeLune Lunaria the Second was taking place when Selena arrived back home. Her hands glowing with energy, Selena threw open the doors of the throne room, demanding to see her niece. The crowd parted, letting the dangerous princess through. Queen Serenity and her husband stood to discover what was causing the commotion, and Serenity froze when she realized who had entered the room. Selena showed herself, staring her sister down.
"Serenity," she had said, bitterness dripping from her voice. Serenity's facial expression quickly recovered from one of surprise back to its usual stoic look.
"Selena, my sister, your presence is a pleasure to us all. Come, gaze upon my daughter, your niece, the one who will look up to you as you have me," Serenity invited, a welcoming smile playing at her lips. Selena didn't move, only continued to glare before saying:
"You are a fool, Serenity - a fool and a thief. You took the throne from me, not once, but twice, and my patience has reached its end. I have grown restless waiting for my day to assume the throne, and you only push my patience further. I curse the day you were born, the day you took the throne, the day you married and the day you bore this wretched child. I curse you and all you are, and I will have my revenge. This child shall not stand in the way of my desires."
Serenity's husband, a man who had been the prince of a faraway planet, drew his sword and pointed it at his sister-in-law. Queen Serenity gasped, covering her mouth with her hand. The spectating crowd was murmuring, and some were even sobbing at the threat given by Selena.
"You have threatened my wife, my child, and my kingdom. Leave now, and be warned, I do not grant mercy," the king bellowed. Selena was the only one who noticed the small glimmer of fear in his eyes. He knew what she was capable of.
Selena smirked. "Neither do I," she retorted. With a small chuckle, she extended one hand and sent a massive blast of energy at the king, hitting him straight on and sending him flying. His body smashed into the throne behind him, shattering the headboard. Queen Serenity shrieked, running to the aid of her husband, while the audience echoed her cry of terror. Favoring the distraction, Selena stalked to the baby princess resting in the cradle nearby. Pulling back the curtain, Selena gazed upon the child.
"Serenity Selena, hm? I guess my sister really is good for something - she picked a fine name for you," Selena murmured. The infant stirred and opened her eyes revealing a gorgeous pair of crystal blue irises. Selena's breath was taken from her as reminiscence filled her. Those were the eyes of her mother, the eyes of a queen who had died so unjustly.
"HE'S DEAD!" a yell was heard, snapping Selena out of her thoughts. She looked up from the child, watching as a doctor fell to his knees and began to sob. Queen Serenity was staring at her husband's motionless body in shock, her body shaking violently.
Suddenly overcome with fury, Queen Serenity turned on her sister, her eyes ablaze. Summoning the Silver Crystal, Serenity pointed her Moon Stick at Selena. A silver light enveloped the princess, rending her motionless.
"Princess Selena DeLune of the Moon Kingdom, I hereby banish you from the Solar System, on the charge of treason, threat, and murder. You are no longer permitted to enter our fair kingdom, or show your face to anyone within. You are banished to the edge of the Universe, where there is no one you may harm. Darkness shall be your only companion for as long as you live. Active immediately," the queen declared. Her voice was shaking tremendously, but her words rang true to all in the room.
With a pulse from the Silver Crystal, Selena vanished from the throne room.
Over the course of a thousand years, Selena floated endlessly through the black emptiness that was the Verge - the end of the universe. She was lonely all her days, with no one to speak to and no one to provide her company. The emptiness drove her mad, increasing her hatred for her sister and all who resided in the universe. Her lust for revenge was what drew the smallest amount of dark energy to her still form, awakening her from her empty haze. The small amount of power was enough for Selena, and with a pulse, she harnessed it. Her form changed into one consumed by darkness, and her powers returned to her. The seal of the Silver Crystal had finally broken, and at last she could carry out the revenge that had plagued her for a thousand years. Many more years were spent training and improving her powers, focusing on all she had learned a millennium ago. Selena was finally ready to avenge her exile and get back at the selfish citizens of the Silver Milllenium.

RP Sample: Princess Selena DeLune threw her hands up in frustration, grabbing the closest object and hurling it at the wall. Her anger and annoyance had reached its peak, and her body felt like it was going to burst. Yet again, her sister had taken the spotlight.
Yelling out in fury, Selena snatched her pillow and fell to her knees, shaking and sobbing. Tears streamed from her icy blue eyes, soaking her face and pillow. She had been trying so hard to gain the pride and recognition of her people, but as always, Serenity had taken it from her. She had donated hundreds of her personal savings and days' worth of time into making a new orphanage for the kingdom children, and had been spending the last few weeks assisting the homeless in getting back on their feet. She came home each night exhausted, thinking that she was making lasting impressions on her people. But no matter what she did, Serenity was always on top.
"
Serenity, Selena hissed, her voice dripping with venom. Her sister had been nothing but selfish and cruel since their parents died, and Selena had discovered her for who she truly was. The fact that Serenity had the love of the kingdom was completely unfair, and Selena was tired of dealing with it. The coronation of her sister was too much - she had to get out, to leave and find ways to improve her skills and build new strategies for gaining the favor of her people. Snatching her cloak, Selena fled the castle, escaping unnoticed through the crowd of people who milled around the castle, celebrating their new queen. Disgusted, Selena left without a word of good-bye.
But that was a millennium ago. There was no more running. Now, Selena thought, they would be running from her.
