I know Halloween is already done for this year, but I have this ultimate project for next year. Why is it so much of a deal for me is because I am absolutely not good at sewing and I would like to make my own Sailor Senshi Costume! I'm thinking about it already because I know it's going to take me almost a year to complete.

Of course, I could just shop online to find one, but I thought it would be a good challenge and it would also be more personal. Looking for my own material and colors, adding some details, etc...

So my question is, has anyone ever done a similar project? Do you have tips for me?

Also, if my first project is good enough, I may also try to do my own otaku senshi character costume. I would probably wear it at my next halloween party with my friends. Another curiosity question: would you cosplay your own otaku senshi at a Sailor Moon Party?

Oh totally! I've thought about sewing my own sailor moon costume before too. If you do some research online you can find some good patterns for pleated skirts and how to make the sailor collar. I had always figured find a good thick white leotard and then work from there. You can always make the skirt separate from the bodice if you need too. I don't know anything about sewing either, but i've done some research and have also found good tutorials for making bows, etc. Best bet would be for you to google for the specific parts to get patterns and stuff. I'm sure there are some people on here that will give advice, but there are so many really amazing cosplayers out there, i'm sure you'll be able to find something on materials and stuff.

Also, best thing is to start off with a sketch and kind of break down the outfit. Is it going to be a pretty basic sailor senshi outfit (the normal one before they got the upgrades) or is it really full of extras and fillyness and details? The more details the harder the work, especially for a beginner. Just some things to think about!

OOH YEAH. I can't believe I forgot to mention that! That's actually probably a better idea that what I stated. XD
