Appearance: In her original form, Beryl appears to be a older teen or young woman with a average height and build. She has long wavy black hair that reaches to her waist. She wears a few pieces of jewelry, such as a circlet around her head, earrings, necklace and a belt around the waist of her dress. Her outfit consists of a dull, dark-colored dress that reaches past her knees, and she wears brown sandals as footwear.

When she is transformed into Queen Beryl, her appearance radically changes. She is slightly taller, with a more womanly and curvy build. Her hair is now a bright red, and seems to be capable of moving on it's own and acting as a weapon of sorts. Her face is more angular and sharp, and she now has fangs. She also has horns sprouting out of her shoulders. She is much more flashy with her jewelry, now sporting a crown, and also bright earrings, a necklace, bracelet, and belt. She wears a long, purple gown that fits snuggly against her body. She has the look of a strong, ambitious, power-hungry woman.

Personality: Before meeting and becoming infatuated with Prince Endymion, it has been rumored that Beryl was actually a kind and simple young lady. But as soon as she laid eyes on the prince, her heart opened itself up to darkness. She became obsessive, and raged at the people of the Moon, in particular Princess Serenity. And with her transformation into Queen Beryl, her personality became darker and darker. She was manipulative and ambitious, and would do whatever it took to please the giver of her new found power, Queen Metalia. She had little to no care about others, and would do whatever was necessary to reach her goals, even if it meant taking another human being's life. With her reincarnation, all of these qualities still remain and she has completely transformed into a cruel, cold woman, the only warmth left in her being her still remaining lust and obsession with Prince Endymion. Beryl can also be very impatient, as evidenced by her going back on her plan to work with Queen Metalia to sought out the power of the Silver Crystal for herself.

History: Very little is known about Beryl's origins. She was an Earth sorceress who bore hatred toward the citizens of the Moon. This hatred grew even more, when the apple of her eye, the man she was infatuated with, Prince Endymion, fell in love with the Moon's princess, Princess Serenity. Queen Metalia sensed the darkness forming in her heart and descended from the Sun, with the intent to manipulate Beryl into helping her obtain the Silver Crystal and conquer the Earth. Beryl easily fell victim to Metalia's manipulation, and received dark powers from her and transformed into Queen Beryl. With her new found powers, Beryl swiftly turned the citizens of the Earth and Endymion's own guardians, the Shitennou, against him.

Beryl pursued Prince Endymion, but he rejected her and that only served to further her rage toward Princess Serenity. In response, Beryl killed her precious Endymion, and out of anguish Princess Serenity took her own life. Beryl was then quickly killed by Sailor Venus and her Holy Blade, but it was too late. The damage had already been done, and the Silver Millennium had fallen.

Queen Serenity used the Silver Crystal in an attempt to seal away Queen Metalia, but was unable to completely seal away the evil entity. As a result, in the 20th Century was able to reawaken Beryl and the Shitennou, who now served under Beryl. Beryl had been reincarnated as a normal woman, but while exploring the Arctic Circle she discovered the ruins of the Dark Kingdom at D Point and reawakened Metalia. The evil entity restored Beryl's memories of the past, and she reawakened the Shitennou to serve under her. The Shitennou were sent out to gather energy for Metalia, and Beryl sent out lower minions to search for the Silver Crystal. Beryl so easily complied with Metalia in hope of being able to become Queen of Earth with her beloved Prince Endymion.

Storyline Specific Information:
The Lunar Chronicles: It is the golden days of Silver Millennium. Young Princess Serenity is coming of age, surrounded by her beloved guardian senshi. On a forbidden journey to Earth, the planet she has always wished to see with her own eyes, she will meet its heir, Prince Endymion, for the first time. And when the guardian senshi follow her, they, too, will meet the Endymion's four Generals, and learn that maybe relationships between the denizens of the earth and the moon aren't so terrible after all. Meanwhile, in the shadows, Beryl watches Endymion, wanting him for herself and cultivating her own ambition to be the future queen of earth...

Queen Beryl was laid back in her throne, lazily gazing at the crystal orb hovering in front of her. She watched with a look of annoyance as Jadeite was evaporated and reduce to a skeleton by Sailor Mars. What a incompetent fool, she thought to herself. Hopefully the other three will prove to be far more useful. As she continued to watch the events fold out, she began to focus on Sailor Moon herself. Just the sight of the girl caused rage to bubble up inside Beryl, just like the way she always felt when she had lay eyes on Princess Serenity back during the Silver Millennium. With a quick motion of her hand, Beryl shut off the orb and closed her eyes, burying herself into her thoughts.

She would succeed, she would be victorious. She would obtain the needed energy for Queen Metalia, get her hands on the elusive Silver Crystal, and ultimately become the queen of the Earth and reunite with her beloved Prince Endymion. She would do whatever it took to achieve all of this, even if it would cost the lives of a few of her underlings along the way. And no one was going to stop her, especially not the annoyingly persistent Sailor Moon and her fellow senshi.
