Appearance: Ami has short blue hair and blue eyes. She also occasionally wears glasses when studying or reading. She stands at about 5’2” or 157 cm. Ami’s clothing style is usually more on the conservative side and at the beginning of the story even old-fashioned. However, as her confidence grows, her style slowly evolves as well to be mature but not outdated. Ami is most often seen in her Azabu-Juban school uniform. Her preferred color to wear is blue.

Personality: Before she met the other girls, Ami was a shy and reserved girl with little self-confidence. She didn’t make friends easily, mostly because of how intelligent she is (her IQ is said to be 300) and how that often led her peers to talk about her behind her back and mock her out of jealousy. Because of her shyness and the fact she always finishes at the top of all kinds of exams, they thought she was arrogant and didn’t want to socialize with people less smart than herself. In truth, it’s just the opposite. Ami feels that her intelligence is the only good thing about her, and doesn’t believe she’s worth for much else. It also doesn’t help that her mother, who’s a doctor, sets a high bar for her expectations and wants Ami to follow her footsteps. Ami does dream of becoming a doctor like her mother, but she also desires friends and love.

Love isn’t something that was present in Ami’s life before Usagi came into it. Her mother is always busy working and barely has time to see her, let alone spend time with her. Her parents are divorced and her father is never seen in any incarnation of the story. As a painter, he’s always off somewhere in the world and only occasionally sends Ami postcards or paintings that sometimes don’t even include any personal message. As a result, Ami’s life is mostly filled with solitude. It’s what causes her to pull away from everyone and chooses to spend most of her time reading or studying—it’s where she finds peace.

When Usagi befriends her, Ami finally learns the wonders of friendship and gets the chance to experience real love in her life. She also learns to open up more, and though she often tries her best to get the other girls to study hard—especially for exams—she has learned to loosen up a lot and have fun when the time calls for it too. She is especially close with Mako among all the inner senshi.

After becoming a senshi, Ami’s confidence and strength grew, and though she still feels insecure from time to time, she has grown a lot from where she started. In her spare time, Ami also enjoys playing chess and swimming. She also has a secret love for romance novels and pop culture (she was one of the first who joined the Three Lights' fan club in the anime) though she is embarrassed to admit it. Overall, Ami is also the gentlest and most sensible of the girls, and she has kindness that can rival Usagi’s.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Ami is exceptionally good at chess and any kind of strategic game. She even managed to reach high levels of the Sailor V arcade game on her first try. She is also the only one who could operate the Mercury Computer, which enables her to figure out traps, see through illusions, locate enemies and their weaknesses, as well as analyze any data concerning the senshi’s foes.
 
History: During the Silver Millennium, Ami was known as Princess Mercury. She was one of the guardians protecting Princess Serenity. Her castle was called the Mariner Castle. She was depicted as wearing a blue gown while not in her fuku. After the fall of the Moon Kingdom, Mercury was reborn as Ami Mizuno. Her parents are divorced, perhaps because of how different they are. Her mother is a doctor; a serious and logical person, while her father is a painter; a creative and imaginative man. Ami’s father is never seen in her life except for the things he sends her occasionally.

Ami first appeared as a person of interest in Luna’s investigation while she was researching the Dark Kingdom and looking for the rest of the senshi. In the manga, she appeared as a potential senshi, while in the anime, Luna first thought she was a Dark Kingdom agent. When Ami was on her way home from school, Luna jumped onto her head, thus introducing her to Usagi, who had heard about Ami from Umino. Usagi immediately took her to the game center, where Ami proceeded to get the high score on the Sailor V game. In the manga, this is where she got her transformation pen. Ami then said she had to go to cram school at the Crystal Seminar and left.

However, she left the disk required by the cram school, which she had not been using anyway because she believed you need to study with your own efforts. When Usagi came to the seminar to return the disk, she found out that a youma had taken over the place and brainwashed everyone using the disks. She transformed into Sailor Moon, but the youma took Ami captive and was about to kill her. Ami’s powers kicked in, and the symbol of Mercury appeared on her forehead. She transformed, enveloped the area in a freezing mist, and allowed Usagi to defeat the youma. Afterwards, Luna told her that she was the second senshi, Sailor Mercury.

Storyline Specific Information:

Little Moon Soldiers - Back in the glory days of the Silver Millennium, four guardian senshi from four different planets were summoned to the Moon Kingdom by Queen Serenity to be her daughter's future protectors. But before they became the excellent, dedicated, perfectly trained soldiers that we know and love, they were young, scared, insecure, confused, and unsure. Despite being princesses of their planets, each of them was taken away from the life they knew and from their parents at such a young age. Princess Minerva of Mercury, 13 earth years old at the beginning of the storyline, is a bright child, but she is shy, and she's terrified with all these changes. She does not deal well with changes and it shows. She retreats to her shell, withdrawing from the others, hiding in her books. She finds baby Serenity quite lovely, but at the same time like a puzzle she can't solve. She wishes the baby comes with indicators for hunger, diaper changing, sleep time, and all the other things that might explain her wailed demands.

Crossed Wires - During a battle against the Black Moon Clan over the "Rabbit", a Droid's attack collides with a burst of Chibiusa's hidden power, creating an explosion of magical backlash that the Sailor Senshi are also caught in. The injured Droid retreats to come back another day, and the senshi seem to be alright, until they wake up the next morning with their personalities flipped and switched around. Protected by her Silver Crystal, Usagi is unaffected by the incident, but she must do her best to keep her friends from falling apart as a team so they can defeat the Droid before it goes after Chibiusa again, and maybe find a solution to their personality problems. After her personality was flipped, Ami would turn from a model student into the class delinquent, acting tough and disrespectful, and causing issues at school.

Senshi Fuku: Sailor Mercury's main color is blue. Her collar, choker, skirt, brooch, back bow, front bow, and shoes are all blue. Her tiara has a blue gem. She wears blue knee-high boots. Her earrings are round shaped. Mercury is the only monochromatic inner senshi.

After being upgraded to Super Sailor Mercury, her choker gains a yellow star, her brooch becomes heart-shaped, the bottom of her shoulder pad becomes transparent, and her back bow becomes longer and bigger. She also now has three earrings on each ear.

Her last upgrade as Eternal Sailor Mercury gives her a V-shaped choker, her brooch becomes star-shaped, and so does her tiara. Her skirt becomes two layered, the lower part is light blue. Her shoulder pads become round light blue puffs with blue stripes below them. Her gloves are now longer, reaching past her elbows. She has two ribbons - blue and light blue - as belts around her waist which meet in the middle and clasped with a yellow star. She now wears white knee length boots with a yellow star on the blue V-shaped stripe at the top. Her earrings become star-shaped.

Powers:
- Mercury Aqua Mist: She can surround an area in thick fog.
- Sabão Spray: The anime version of Mercury Aqua Mist.
- Sabão Spray Freezing: A more powerful version of the attack which allows her to freeze an opponent in a block of ice.
- Hyperspatial Sphere Generate: The ability to create a protective field to prevent it from being destroyed.
- Shine Aqua Illusion: She can fire a water blast that can destroy or freeze the target.
- Shine Snow Illusion: She can send a snow storm toward an enemy.
- Mercury Aqua Rhapsody: By materializing a lyre made from water, she can send a powerful water blast at an enemy.
- Mercury Aqua Mirage: She can engulf an enemy in a globe of water which then burst, destroying the enemy.

Weapons or Magical Items:
- Transformation pen: Used to transform into Sailor Mercury.
- Star Power Stick: the next transformation item given by Luna in the Black Moon arc.
- Communicator: An item that allows her to contact the other senshi when necessary.
- Crystal Change Rod: the transformation item used in the SuperS arc of the anime given by Pegasus, allowing her to transform into Super Sailor Mercury.
- Mercury Crystal: the transformation item in the manga to transform into Super Sailor Mercury, which was given to her by Guardian Mercury.
- Mercury Harp: The item she needs to perform Mercury Aqua Rhapsody in the manga.
- Mercury Computer: A hand-held computer given by Luna which can analyze an enemy's weakness, see through illusions, figure out traps, find way outs, etc. It is a very useful item in battle.

RP Sample: The house was quiet when she got home, which was nothing unusual. Ami was so used to the silence by now that she would be more surprised if she found people or chatter inside her lavish apartment. She paused by the door as she took off her shoes, looking at all the cold opulence. Her family was rich, that was for sure, and she knew the other girls sometimes envied her for it. But she had had to trade money for love, and if given the chance to decide, she wasn’t sure if she would’ve made that choice. Maybe if her mother was just a teacher or a secretary, they wouldn’t have as nice a house.

But Ami also wouldn’t come home to an empty one every day.

She knew she was selfish for thinking this way, and immediately mentally chided herself. It wasn’t like her mother was some opportunist businesswoman or politician—she briefly thought about Rei and felt guiltier—or anything of the sort. Her mother was busy saving lives. It was a very noble profession. One that also happened to pay exceptionally well. Ami hadn’t traded love for money after all; she had traded her mother being here for her mother being out there saving dozens of people.

She supposed it was a fair trade.

But that didn’t mean she wasn’t lonely, still.

As she made her way into her room, thinking about her options (homework, some reading, exam practice…) she realized that today she didn’t really want to be alone after all. It didn’t matter that she’d only just seen her friends a couple hours ago. It didn’t matter that she had only said goodbye to them a couple minutes before.

Ami knew who would understand this feeling and would already miss her as well.

Smiling, she grabbed the phone and punched in the number she had long memorized without even trying; Usagi’s.
