| Ocarina of Time for the win. I tried playing Majora's Mask and well... it just didn't happen. My bf, on the other hand, prefers Majora's Mask over Ocarina of Time.
As a kid, I must have played the introduction dozens of times. I would collect all three spiritual stones, go to the Temple of Time, and then I would stop playing. The redead scared me half to death, so I would not play the majority of the game, during which Link was an adult.
Now, the redead don't bother me, so playing through the whole game isn't an issue anymore. |

| By far, I enjoyed Ocarina of Time much much more than Majora's Mask. The story of Majora's Mask was confusing and too puzzeling that I often got lost when try to search for the other masks. Ocarina of Time was fun, interesting, and the puzzels were fun, regardless that the difficulty increased.
When they re-released this on the Gamecube, I went and bought me it because to me, this is still my favorite Zelda game by far! |

| I didn't like Majoras mask and the time limit and the difficulty and how tedious the game was. You had to redo things and sooo many side quests!!!!! They started work on OoT in like 1990? and it came out in 98 they spent only a couple years on Majoras Mask and I think they could have done better if they had waited to release it. Plus the glitches are fun but they make the game feel very unprofessional. |

| Who would ever pick Majora's Mask? I mean, it's cool and all, but not comparable to Ocarina.
Though, if I'm being honest, my favorite LoZ game is Twilight Princess. |

| I will always love Ocarina of Time as one of my favorite Zelda games, but Majora's Mask was amazing too. I got very frustrated in the last temple and never beat the game. I probably should go back and replay it.
The reason people hate on it so much is because it was so different from OOT. The thing is, Nintendo is ALWAYS trying to do something unique and different whenever they release new games. I think this game shows they were trying to push to something interesting. I didn't mind the time limit (thats what the Song of Time for), and the puzzle aspects of the game were challenging and fun. I liked the feel of Termina field as well. The music was the same but it made the world feel off, which fit the game well. The entire world was just creepy and that mood was pretty haunting. I'll probably having a hard time playing the game again just because the moon was so damn creepy.
Anyway, yeah. That's how I feel about OOT and MM. ^^; |

| I still feel like Majoras mask was more dark than OOT. I also feel like Majoras mask was rushed to be released. I understand the demand, Nintendo on high, OOT had GREAT sales and reviews...lets try and recreate that...I think they should have kept it for one more year...made some revisions...got rid of some glitches and maybe took out a few things but, thats my opinion. I still like the game and the characters are rememberable. I did not like Navi or Kaepora Gaebora in OOT though. |

| OOT had glitches too though. There are some really fun glitches you can do in that game. I still feel it was too different for some people. Thats the impression I get anyways. |

| yeah I didnt notice the oot glitches as much though I didn't care for being the different races in MM, changing masks during battles and stuff just got kind of annoying vs just being link and taking them out with the master sword and other items. plus zelda is actually in oot so thats a plus lol |

| Majora's Mask. Majora's Mask, always. I love Ocarina of Time, but I prefer MM. MM is so much more unique for a storyline, it's a lot darker than any Nintendo game I've seen. The 3 day time limit can be annoying but how else would it be challenging? And the reason they didn't get to spend almost 10 years on the game is because they needed one more Zelda game before they released the Gamecube, so they didn't have time for so many character designs and all that jazz. I loved the side quests, ESPECIALLY the Anju and Kafei one. It's just a sad, but romantic story that comes together perfectly in the end. <3 Plus, collecting all the neat masks was cool. But I loved reading about each characters' personalities, their story, what happened, yada yada. Sure, OoT was AMAZING, especially since it was the first Zelda game introduced in the new 3D world, but it was a typical Zelda story, especially compatred Majora. So, yes, I much prefer Majora. I may be one of the few who actually does, but, whatever. Edit: Not to mention, first Zelda game EVER that allowed to you to play someone other than Link, even if for 5 minutes. (Kafei) |

| Haha, I love them both, they're just different. I mean, OOT is the one I have the strongest nostalgia for because it was the first game of its type I'd played - I mean, I'd only really played platform stuff and oooold gameboy games before! So it was kind of O__O WOOOOOOOOOOOW. I think it's kind of like the relationship people have to FF7, to be honest - it IS good, but there's also a heavy dose of nostalgia and the fact that it was such a big visual step from its predecessors. I nerded out over OOT pretty thoroughly (it was the first thing I was in fandom for, hah). BUT I thought MM was really amazing too, I liked the structure - it felt pretty creative. I never got to finish playing twilight princess ;; I don't have any of the right consoles and can't afford to buy that kind of frivolous stuff atm. Started playing it on my flatmate's Wii when I lived in the UK. But it seemed lovely. |

It was really the first game of its type I played and I was just blown away by everything from the story to game play to all the fun little side quests. If you ever get the chance to finish TP, you seriously need to! Its kind of feels like OOT, but on a bit more epic and darker scale. However I found it not as challenging at times, but still overall very fun and good story for a Zelda game (which is usually Princess is captures! Save her! lol) |

| OoT was my first zelda game so it will always be my favorite (I have a feeling that Skyword sword will replace that though....) But enjoyed MM. I had so much fun playing OoT as a kid. I have beaten it over 20 times no kidding.
As for MM I enjoyed the mask thing and the plot. I love the music especially the Song of Healing!!! I was just annoyed with the way you had to save your file. The time thing didn't bother me. It felt for realistic because the town's people had daily routines. |

| Awww... I loved almost all Zelda games. In each of them there were new challenges, another interesting storyline, amazing graphics. Ocarina of Time will probably remain one of my favorites, (I played it over and over so many times) but I have to admit that I have a hard time choosing which of the two, OOT or Majora's Mask was my favorite. I know some people didn't like Twilight Princess as much, but I also personally loved it. I still have Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Wii and DS at home and every once in a while I play one Zelda game or another... Too bad I'm at my job right now because this thread makes me wanna play Twilight Princess now |

Jo, I love TP as well. I love story and I love the dark shading used in the game. I really loved Mina. At first I hated her then I grew to love to her. I think she's Link's best partner throughout the series. Think a lot people didn't like TP because it didn't have a lot of side quests. That didn't effect my opinion of the game because I really don't care about side quests. Usually when I play a Zelda game I play through it first do some side quests then in my second play through I'll do more. The only zelda games where I do most of the side works in the first play through is MM and SS (I haven't beaten SS yet ^^). |

Mina and Link were really a team in TP. The fact it didn't have a lot of side quests didn't affect my opinion neither. |

| I love both MM and OOT equally. MM gets my support because it's a really good Zelda story that is imaginative in it's execution and it stands apart from OOT even though they are connected.
I like the introduction of Link using masks a lot. We play as a chibi Link, and I think the magic powers of the masks give him more character in this game.
The side quest I enjoyed because they kept me playing the game and each quest usually led to a mask get. Which is one of the strengths of the game when you get to the end. Using the inverted Song of Time it's possible to do a majority of the side quests (some carry over despite the time reset playing the Song of Time normally), and clear all the dungeons in the 3 day time frame. After you've awakened all 4 giants, and wait till the clock hits midnight at Clock Town, you can warp, or run all over Termina and talk to all the people you've helped and see their reaction to the impending doom of they face. Some flee but most of the people elect to stay in their homes and or with their loved ones and hope for the best. Hope for someone to save them.
Which is a stark contrast to OOT where Ganondorf has taken over and spread darkness across Hyrule but the people all seem to live their lives unaffected day in and day out. Link is in a parallel world, he didn't have to stay and fight Majora. He could've taken Epona and fled back through the Lost Woods to Hyrule. To the people of Termina it's only been 3 days but to Link it could've been several days to weeks of him helping and getting to know the people of Termina. He got emotionally invested in the outcome of this world and elected to be a hero one more time. |

| I prefer both of them, but for different reasons: Majora's Mask for its story, Ocarina of Time for it's controls.
While I didn't mind the mask switching in MM, I much prefer the constant controls of being Link or young Link in OOT, also I enjoyed the dungeon layout of OOT a lot more as well, but MM's isn't bad or anything.
As for storyline and music, Majora's Mask wins completely for me. It's just so different from the normal Zelda story, I love it. I like how the sidequests make the NPCs a lot more fleshed out, and the 'main' characters really just make you want to know about them, like the Happy Mask's Saleman or Skull Kid. Also the music is simply amazing that game.
Though my favorite Zelda will still and forever be Wind Waker since people mentioned their favorites~ xD |

| I never had a nintendo 64 or gamecube as a kid, so I never got to play the games until I bought the Wii. I borrowed the collector edition from a friend for a while and got to play OoT but got stuck in the temple of water but I had to return it so I never got to finish it. I also played a bit of MM, but not enough. I just recently bought the virtual game in the Wii shop channel and started playing it again. Currently playing it. I've only played and beaten Wind Waker, Four Swords, Minish cap, phantom hour glass, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. |

| I'm trying to beat Minish Cap. I had to restart my file because I stopped playing it for awhile and I was in the cloud temeple and I couldn't remember how to get back to the boss. I have never played four swords. I tried phantom hour glass and didn't like it because I hated the controls.
So Juuhachi, which game did you buy on the VC? OoT or MM? |
