My god why doesn't this topic exist yet? So here we shall talk about our favorite season and least favorite season.


My Favorite: S
Why: I really loved how the anime handle the Infinity arch. I loved the interactions with the Inners and Outers. I also loved how Chibiusa's and Hotaru's friendship had more development. I also loved the music especially the Outers' transformation music. The climaxes were just perfect my favorite scene in the whole show comes from S's finale.  It's the scene where Sailor Moon is holding baby Hotaru in her arms.
My Least Favorite: R
Why: To be honest I don't fine R enjoyable (No it's not because of Chibiusa. However, she is my least favorite solider, but I do like her character). However, I did love the filler arch. Everything else is meh. I didn't like break up between Usgai and Mamoru. I thought it was great idea, but the creators should have done it better. Like actually have Mamoru tell Usgai why he was breaking up with her. Then whole season season we could have watch Usagi trying to show Mamoru that everything will be alright.

Favorite Season: S
Why: This is the first season we really get to see the Outer Senshi. While we did get to see Pluto in R, it wasn't as much as it was in S which is why I really think S is the true introduction of the Outer Senshi. I also adore the friendship that kindle between Hotaru and Chibiusa and the entire season itself.

While the season didn't have a strong ending, the entire season itself build up to its climax that in all honesty, made me cry when Usagi was calling out "Crisis Power, Make up!" and slamming her hand to the ground. Hell, I'm getting chills from just writign this part up with how much I loved that season. Plus, the animation and the detailing on that final season was just goregous!

Season S by far, had the strongest story for the anime and the most emotion impact through the season itself in my opinion.

Least Favorite Season: SuperS
Why: I have stated my reasons as to why I don't like this season in a previous topic but here's a recap. SuperS had one of the worst manifestations of Usagi when it came to the anime as all the maturity that Usagi gain from the previous seasons went out the door in order to let Chibiusa shine. The anime itself also seem to be centered more around Chibiusa and shoved her in your face every moment it got.

While this season had the best climax throught the series, the entire season itself that let up to the climax failed in comparison. The season itself I felt wasn't as strong as it climax and lack that build-up that I felt with the S Season. As I stated before, I wished the duration of the season could have lived up to what the ending was for SuperS but unfortunately in my opinion, it didn't.

For your point you made about the finale I totally agree with you! Sailor Moon shouting crisis make up is just so amazing. You can tell she doesn't want to give up and will do anything in her power to save Saturn.

Favorite season: S
When I was younger and watching the dubbed anime on Cartoon Network, I didn't really like this season. I was probably too young to really even understand such a storyline (plus I just hate the dubs). Re-watching the show now that I'm older, I find that I really like this season. Moreso than my previous favorite SuperS (I *am* a Chibiusa fan lol). In S, I just find the story so great. It's kind of like a horror story in a way. I also really *lovelovelove* the outer senshi. I love their interactions with the inners and just how awesome they are as a whole. As mentioned previously by other members, I also love the climax and the build up. I loved the development between Hotaru and Chibiusa and also how in the end due to Mistress 9, Hotaru ended up taking Chibiusa's heart crystal and thus beginning the Silence. It just has great everything in my opinion. I love Sailor Moon's super form best though lol so that's a bonus for SuperS since that form is reoccurring and her main form.

Least favorite season: original and R
I just did not like Queen Beryl or that story. I wish they had done something with the Shitennou and told who they were and made them be more like I heard they are in the manga (I could say the same for the Amazoness Quartet/Sailor Quartet). And as for R...I just didn't find it very enjoyable. I feel a threat in the future would have been better for a later season (I know it was a way to introduce Chibiusa). As in one directly tying to the 30th century. I only liked Black Lady too. The story just felt...maybe out of place for me? I loved seeing Usagi and Mamoru as king and queen and Crystal Tokyo though.

Well in the manga the future is threaten during the Stars arch. It would have been nice if they showed that in the anime. As for the time traveling itself I wish the anime showed Chibiusa going back and forth more often. It bothers me that she's always there. I just feel like that's going to mess with the time stream or something.

I like all the anime series but my favourite is R just because I find it the most interesting and least repetitive, with S being my least favourite. Though it had its dramatic points, so did the other series and I never understood why its such a big deal XD So basically I'm just giving love to the rest of the series

Is it weird to say that basically only the seasons with the outer senshi feel like the best seasons to me? o.o lol. I feel like when they aren't included, the cast is incomplete and lacking. So, going on that feeling, S and Stars would honestly have to be my favorites in the long run because both of these seasons include the outers while classic, R, and SuperS do not.

It was a realization that just donned on me so I figured I'd post it. this felt like the most appropriate thread for it.

Well R had an Outer in it, Pluto. She wasn't in it much, but she was there. I think Classic did okay without the Outers because that season was focusing on the inners and princess. Plus at that time they weren't created yet. As for SuperS yeah the Outers should have came never the end on the season like in the manga.

I like season one, sailor r, and super s the best.but season one could of been better with the animation i think DIC should of did a better job.

Favorite: S. The introduction of Haruka and Michiru is awesome. And I always thought Hotaru's story was one of the best parts of the whole series.

Least favorite: SuperS. Just really dumb villains and repetition. I like Chibiusa and Helios but their relationship isn't really highlighted that much. It's mostly just people getting attacked for their dream mirrors and the villains never going after the obvious owner of the golden mirror: could it be the one who always gets help from Pegasus? Duh.

My favorite season is Sailor Stars. I love the Nehelenia arc and how it goes into more depth into Nehelenia's past and allows her a chance to start over again. It's the perfect follow up to Supers and I like the plot twist revealed later that Galaxia was just using Nehelenia to awaken Hotaru which I thought was a neat way of connecting the arcs. I also love the introduction of the Starligts and while I know Takeuchi didn't like the anime's take on them, I actually liked the gender bending in the anime. I thought it was a creative way of hiding their identities and made the Seiya/Usagi/Mamoru love triangle more interesting.

I loved Seiya's character and thought he was a funny character and I loved his brief fling with Usagi and I personally like Usagi and Seiya together in the anime version more than Usagi and Mamoru. I felt that Stars had some of the best villains in the series. I loved Alimunium Siren and Lead Crow's cute and sweet relationship. Even though Galaxia was incredibly sadistic and twisted, you couldn't help but sympathize with her and want Usagi to save her in the end. Stars also had some of the funniest episodes in the anime, even funnier than Supers. My favorite episode of the anime is still the one where Usagi spends the whole episode chasing after Chibi Chibi because she thinks she's found a world of sweets.

I still bust a gut from laughing no matter how many times I've seen it. I absolutely loved the ending to Stars and thought its six part final showdown was one of the most exciting battles in the anime. I cried during the Inners' deaths and Haruka and Michiru's death. I'm still inspired by Usagi's pacifism in the final battle with Galaxia. Stars also has some of the best music. I especially love the Sailor Stars Song and the Starlights' song they sing at their concerts. Overall, I think Stars was an excellent ending to the series and it's still sad we never got it over here.

My least favorite season is probably R. I loved the Doom Tree arc, Al and En's love hexagon with Usagi and Mamoru and I liked the concept of the Black Moon's invasion of Crystal Tokyo. But besides the Four Ayakashi Sisters, I honestly thought most of the villains were kind of boring. Demando was a male version of Queen Beryl, Esmeraude's laugh was incredibly annoying, and Wiseman is probably the most generic villain in the entire series. The only villain I liked in R was Black Lady and we only got to see her for like two or three episodes. Chibi-usa was far more likeable and sympathetic in the manga whereas I thought she was a total brat in the anime. I also felt like we didn't get see enough of Setsuna and I was disappointed we didn't get to see Diana until Supers. Most of the filler-ins for this season were just rather boring and the final battle against Death Phantom was far more exciting and tragic in the manga whereas in the anime it just felt like another monster of the day battle to me.

Count me in as someone else who hates how the anime portrayed Mamoru. I don't just hate Mamoru in the anime because they made him a jerk but I also was disappointed in how weak they made him and completely cut out his Tuxedo the Smoking Bomber attack. I liked the concept of R but it was executed so much better in the manga whereas the anime watered down anything that was exciting about it and just gave us a lot of boring and annoying characters.

My favorite season: S

Mostly because of the Outers, and it was the season I saw the most when I was younger, and I still get chills when Setsuna first shows up on that season. <3 The friendship between Chibiusa and Hotaru was the sweetest thing to watch and I think the finale of that season was so beautifully animated and very heart-wrenching.

My least favorite season: Stars

This was hard to choose, because I love all of the seasons for different reasons, but I ended up choosing Stars, probably because I feel much less connected to the Starlights than I do to all of the other senshi. I only saw Stars about a year ago (since previously, I had never had access to it), so I just never think about it when I think of my favorite things. It definitely had some really cute and beautiful episodes (some of which made me cry.. xD) but when I want a really sad finale, I go to Classic instead =]

No idea if any of my thoughts made any sense, but there you have it!

Favorite Season: S

This is where Sailor Moon takes a darker turn, and it was really well done. Haruka and Michiru's cynicism made them perfect foils for the Sailor Team's (and especially Usagi's idealism. The storyline was also built up very well, I remember being excited about Hotaru finally becoming Sailor Saturn, and just knowing that while Uranus/Neptune were helping the Sailor Team, they would eventually find a reason to fight, and it made me sad that Haruka and Michiru were getting on really well with Usagi, et. al. but they had conflict against each other when transformed.

Professor Tomoe is my favorite villain in the series, he's hilariously mad, but he has some heartwarming moments with Hotaru. In addition, Hotaru finally made me like Chibi-Usa, since she was finally being adorable and not being a brat to Usagi for once.

Finally, I would just like to say that there was so much anticipation for S, especially to see it dubbed, I had resigned myself to thinking it would never be dubbed, that when I heard the news, and saw the trailer, I was so excited!

Least Favorite Season: SuperS

This season isn't bad, but after S, this was kind of a slog to get through. I didn't like the fact that it was so focused on Usagi and Chibi-Usa. I love Usagi, but I hated the other Inners getting much less screen time and the Outers not even appearing. I didn't really care for the Chibi-Usa/Helios stuff, either. I will say that I liked the villains in SuperS save for Zirconia. The Amazon Trio had some cute moments, and while I didn't like the Amazoness Quartet as much, their theme is one of my favorite songs from the anime.

Other seasons:

I love Classic; it's much lighter compared to the other seasons, it has the most Umino and Naru, and the non-Soldier dynamic and comedy is what got me into the series.

I liked R's breakup plot. it proved Usagi and Mamoru's love in both senses of the word (to test and to establish as true).

I liked the Sailor War concept of Stars, the final few episodes where the soldiers are battling Galaxia are the best in this season. The death of Mamoru made me sad, especially for Usagi because she didn't know until really late. I disliked the Starlights, I just didn't like their designs.

Least Favorite Season : Sailor Moon SuperS

Why : I feel as though in this season, the writers forgot that the series was about Sailor Moon They make her appear childish & incompetent! As if she doesn't know when to attack an enemy with out someone telling her. It just annoyed me. Granted I do love ChibiusaxHelios, but there could have been less of it. I like the series but it got kind of childish. I didn't like Nehelenia until the very end of the series. I don't like the Amazon Trio. The whole thought of them running around seducing people seems idiotic to me. I will say that I love the Amazon Quartet though. I don't like how they made Chibiusa seem so much older than she was. She's only like 8 or 9 (correct me if I'm wrong) but they portray her as being in her teens with her emotional compacity, which I'm sure is higher than a normal 8 year olds but she should not be as mature as Usagi. Just saying..

I love the super Season because I love the outer senshi and villains. I also like the whole thing with Saturn awakening. This season is really the only one where the outers aren't slighted

Least Favorite Season: supers

There are no outer senshi therefore the season is pointless but I do like the villains best from this season.

Favourite: R

Best overarching plot, best filler and I love the Ayakashi Sisters.

Least Favourite: S

S just was alot more tedious than the other series. Every episode was pretty much exactly the same, it didn't have the variation that R and SuperS had.

For me it goes

R > First Series > SuperS > Stars > S

Favorite Season is Sailor Moon R

Love the Usagi/Mamuro love story and the whole princess thing.

Least Favorite: Sailor Moon Stars

Probably because it's the season I've seen the least.

Favourite R:

Strongest continuity of all series, has quite a few of my favourite villains (Berthier, Petz, Esmeraude) in it. All the stories including the monster-of-the-days are wonderful, expanding the girls and the villains in personality, with one of the most exciting battles and end-arc. I love the Makaiju arc too, great opening, great ending (yes even the recap episode at the end --- despite having little to no new animation, the dialogue is hilarious and completely fits in with the girls and their personalities).

Least Favourite S:

The majority of filler is okay but very weak compared to SuperS and R. The best developed villain (Vilyui of course) is restricted to a single episode. The series villains Kaolinite and Eudial are competent but so competent that they barely come face-to-face with the Sailor Soldiers, something we hadn't really seen since Jadeite, they sort of hover in the background. I do love this series but it lacks a bit in consistency, I honestly think many people who call this their favourite are biased due to the introduction of Haruka and Michiru. The ending arc is amazing but I still prefer the endings for all the other series (It might beat Stars though...). I love S but, just not my favourite.

Favorite : Has to be R but the Black Moon Arc

I love the storyline between Mamoru and Usagi. I like that we get a Glimpse of there future and how both become King and Queen of tokyo. I love how we get to see Chibiusa for the first time I enjoy her character very much . I also liked the Villans my favorites were Prince Diamond and Zaffiro and can't forget Black Lady. Everything about this season was excellent I enjoyed it



Least Favorite: Sailor Moon Classic

I really didn't feel connected to this season like the rest and plus Queen Beryl made me dislike this season very much . I also didn't like the fact she had an obsession with Endymion she wanted him at all cost and I didn't like that

Favorite: Sailor Moon SuperS

I'm a simple person when it comes to Sailor Moon. Really to be honest, all I need is Usagi, Mamoru, Chibiusa and Makoto to keep me happy. This season highlights on Chibiusa the most, which I do NOT mind at all. I don't mind the other characters being in the background. I guess because the inners are all I really enjoy when it comes to senshi. I love Chibiusa and Helios. I get butterflies in my stomach whenever I see them interact. Plus, Usagi and Mamoru's relationship in SuperS is adorable. No crazy break ups or insane brainwashing. My favorite villains are also in the season: The Amazoness Quartet and Queen Nehelenia. They are the perfect villainesses, filled with vainity and selfish concerns. It's great. Also, the ending warms my heart. The way Usagi saves Chibiusa makes me feel like anything is accomplishes.

Least Favorite: Sailor Moon Stars.

It seems like it's a totally different series. For some that may be a good thing, but for me, Sailor Moon loses it's familiarity in this season. I really enjoyed the tiny prequel with Queen Nehelenia, but that was it. I really thought that since this was the final season, we would see more of the Inners and Outers. I was heartbroken that Chibiusa left so early. I did not enjoy the Starlights being upgraded to major characters unlike the manga. Chibi Chibi is my favorite character within the whole season. I truly think she is the light of hope for the season itself to keep me watching. xD

Favorite: S

I felt personally it had the best villain group besides in Stars, and they generally were decently evil and they had a pretty devious plot. Plus the Outers were finally all announced and introduced in that season.

Least: SuperS

I didn't really enjoy this one as much as I hoped I would. The plot was okay but it just dragged on for some reason to me. The Dead Moon Circus kind of annoyed me (not the Trio, though! I loved them!)

Favorite: it's a toss-up between S and Stars

S: I love the introduction of Haruka and Michiru, they brought such dynamic into the series that wasn't seen before. I love episodes 109-111, and the final episodes of the series leading up to the battle at Mugen High. The fact that Haruka and Michiru were willing to sacrifice themselves, and their love story (the part where they held hands before Eudial called them, and after Michiru got her talisman stolen) really touched me.

Stars: I loved the final episode of the Nehelenia arc, it was really beautiful. It also had one of my favorite episodes in the series, episode 184 where all the Sailor Soldiers show up in Usagi's living room haha so funny! And I really enjoyed watching the episode where the Inner Soldiers reveal their identities to the Starlights (much like when they revealed themselves to Neptune and Uranus). I really love the villains too, I haven't really connected with a villain like Sailor Lead Crow and Sailor Aluminum Seiren (except for Nephrite, I was super sad when he died). And I love the drama in the last few episodes too!! It was so intense!!

Least Favorite: SuperS
It just felt like a long season of absolute nothing. Like a bag of chips that are 1/3 full, and the rest is filled with air. Ironically it used to be my favorite as a kid because I liked the colors in Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon's outfits LOL

Sailor Moon S: I find this season to be the best out of all of them because we were introduced to the Outers (But we already knew about Pluto) and it's actually pretty dark compared to the other seasons. (I like to think of the S season as being darker than the others. I don't know I just find it that way) I love the plot for this season and the villains are awesome.

Least favorite

Sailor Moon SuperS:
I have a lot of reasons why I don't like this season. One being that it's waaay too light and fluffy. And it kinda makes me annoyed. Especially since it came right after a pretty dark season. Also waaay too much Chibiusa. Now I'm not saying I hate her. She's my 3rd favorite senshi. But they just kinda gave her a little too much screentime. And one more thing. Their transformation updates. Okay. Super Sailor Moon, she was supposedly REALLY powerful in the S season when she used the Crises transformation. But in this season, they made her weak like heck. She can't even use her new attack without Chibiusa calling out for Pegasus beforehand. And even when she does use her the Moon Gordeous Meditation, it just doesn't look as strong as the Rainbow Moon Heart Ache attack. Also there's the fact that the Moons ALWAYS transformed together. I was always hoping for them to transform by themselves.
Plus this season seemed to love to focus on completely random characters that only appeared once and then we never saw them again. Also I can't really stand the villains this season. (Maybe except the Amazoness Quartet and Nehelenia, but that's probably just me)


S = Dark
SuperS = Too light and fluffy but I still do somewhat like it. But not as much as I did when I was younger.
(Here's to hoping they go along with the Dream arc from the manga in the new 2013 anime. I hear it's awesome in the manga compared to the anime)

S is the best season imo. It has the best villains, the best monsters, the outer senshi, the best story and also the best development.

SuperS is the one I like the least. Bad villains, worst development, way too much focus on Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon, even the inners are shafted. Boring fillers, boring fights, boring everything. ):

I think i read that the reason it was so light and centered around chibiusa was because they wanted to appeal more to the new younger audiences since older viewers were growing up. This is similar to how Power Rangers had a reboot in the middle of their fifth season with Turbo, changing all the cast members, and including a 9 year old ranger in the season, to appeal to a younger newer audience and get better ratings. And if I remember correctly there was one instance where chibiusa and usagi transformed separately but their transformations were off screen.

Hmmmm well anime wise I would have to say S is my favorite season.

Cause I liked the Witches 5 [thinking about it now I giggle when they changed the number after one of them died], Mistress 9, Outer Senshi, and I really just enjoyed Sailor Moon's Crisis, Make up.

I honestly don't have a least favorite...but if I would make a list I would put SuperS last cause it really didn't interest me like the others did. It is still a good season cause of Queen Nehelenia, Amazonness Quartet, and all the Inner Senchi Super forums and their new attacks.

Favorite: S
Reason: It was the season that introduced me to Sailor Moon and all the characters that I would come to love for years to come.

Least Favorite: SuperS
Reason: Only because someone had to carry this burden. I don't find any faults with this season (and if I did I don't remember any of them anyway) it just lands in last place when I compare it with my other favorites. I go like this S > R > Classic > SuperS. I don't rate Stars among them since I haven't watched the whole season. Just the opening arc with Queen Nehelenia.

Favorite: Super S. I loved the whole circus, Pegasus theme. It was really colorful and I loved the plot.

Least favorite: S, it was dark and dreary and I didn't really like the villains. The plot was interesting, I give you that but it wasn't really a favorite.

I like the darker atmosphere of the season and the introduction of Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn, and the active role of Pluto. I also like the Witches 5. I don't know why, I just find them appealing. It's too bad three of the five didn't have more screen time to be fleshed-out

Least Favorite Season: SuperS
I do not like when seasons become more childish. Also, the Dream arc in the manga was my most favorite arc in the manga, and the anime gutted it, changing everything I love about it.

Favorite Season(s): S
I like the relationship between the Outers and Inners in S, and it was my first exposure to Sailor Moon.  I just don't care for how the Inners get shafted later on the series.

Least Favorite Season(s): R, Classic
I felt like the Ali-En arc dragged on forever, and it seemed tedious to watch, like Classic. I couldn't stand Classic because of Beryl. I just didn't get her appeal.
