Character Name: Princess Pamina / Yoshi Kira 夜詩きら
Pamina is the daughter of the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute.
When using a pseudonym on Earth, Pamina's Japanese surname contains the character's for "night" and "poem." Her chosen given name, Kira, is half of the onomatopoeia phrase "kira-kira"--used to represent sparkle/twinkle/glitter. In this case, it is a reference to the stars in the night sky.

Used Canons: This character is not directly derived from any of the Sailor Moon canon versions, but is intended to fit into any of the Sailor Moon canon universes as needed. This character is also loosely referenced from the Mozart opera The Magic Flute.

Appearance: Princess Pamina has dark, olive-toned skin. She stands at 150cm/4'11" and has an overall average build with a smaller bust and boyish hips. As she is currently going through adolescence, her limbs are somewhat awkwardly longer for her current frame. She has a heart-shaped face with well-spaced features. Her large black eyes are fringed in dark lashes.

Her long wavy hair is a very dark blue, nearly black. The blue sheen is most visible in direct light. She typically wears her hair pulled back from her face, with the top layer gathered at the back of her head, just about at ear level, into two low pigtails. The lower layer of her hair is left loose, curling gently to roughly mid-thigh length. Her long bangs are center-parted, framing her face.

Pamina's clothing style is very simple, as she is often trying to avoid drawing attention to herself. She is most frequently seen in the school uniform of whichever school she has enrolled in. For casual clothing, she prefers skirts and cardigan sweaters.

When in her princess form, a golden five-pointed star outline with lines of light radiating from it glows on her forehead. She wears a dark navy blue dress with an ankle-length full skirt, a square neckline, and long fitted sleeves. A sleeveless black velvet bodice is worn over the dress. It dips into a v-shape at her waist and has a v-shaped cutout at the chest, laced with a few crosses of black cord. Over her shoulders are sheer gray puffs from which fitted sheer over-sleeves emerge. Above her elbow, the sheer over-sleeves drape open. The same sheer gray material is draped around the top of the dress's skirt, a swath gathered over either hip. She wears paler gray sheer stockings and short gloves, and black pointed-toe high-heeled shoes. A delicate golden crown, golden earrings, and several golden necklaces complete her regal attire.


Personality: Pamina is alone and scared, constantly looking over her shoulder for dangers both real and imagined. Thrust out of her war-torn world in last-ditch effort to keep her safe, she doesn't know who she can or should rely on for help--and she isn't yet able to adequately protect herself.

Pamina is gentle, soft-spoken, and reserved. She grew up in awe of her mother's beauty and power, unsure that she could ever be anything close to the woman she idolized. Due to the ongoing war, Pamina had few friends or opportunities to befriend anyone. She was constantly by her mother's side so that she could be kept safe. Pamina has a lot of room to grow and develop as she explores the outside world on her own.

So many unfamiliar and strange things as part of her new life have awakened Pamina's curiosity. She is finding that she enjoys new experiences. Meeting new people is challenging for her, but without her mother she is very lonely. She would be a loyal friend if she can overcome her initial shyness and find someone who treats her with compassion. She is not terribly empathetic, having had so little contact with other people, but she can learn to think about how others may feel with experience--although she may need to make a few mistakes to truly understand others. She is easily embarrassed or confused.

As a sailor soldier, Sailor Nocturnus is unskilled, frightened, indecisive--but determined. She has had no training, formal or informal, so her attempts at fighting are not well-informed or using the best judgment. However, she doesn't want to give up and she is willing to learn. Even if she has to learn the hard way.

She dreams of becoming a more powerful person and sailor soldier, so that she can return to her home and bring victory and peace. Pamina misses her mother very much and worries about her mother's safety; she hopes that when she returns she can protect and fight alongside her mother. They have not been in contact since she left their home.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Princess Pamina is able to manipulate some minor powers from within the realm that she controls as a sailor soldier. She mostly uses these abilities to disguise herself suitably for the place she has landed in, create enough of an alias or false life to fit in as best as possible, and to travel safely through time and space, although the latter requires her Asturlab.

History: Princess Pamina travels across time and space, far from her home and family. A great war has engulfed the distant star cluster that she hails from. To protect her daughter, Princess Pamina's mother, Queen Sternflammende, sent her forth, hoping that the princess would arrive in a place safe from their enemies. As heir to the throne, Pamina is capable of utilizing the precious relic Die Zauberflöte, which is currently in her mother's possession but which the opposing forces of the evil Sarastro are desperate to obtain and manipulate. The queen thwarted several kidnapping attempts, but she fears that the increasing intensity of attacks will eventually overpower her. Princess Pamina awakened to her abilities as Sailor Nocturnus in those last moments with her mother, and she is untrained and generally unskilled at being a sailor soldier.

Storyline Specific Information:
★ The Collector: Princess Pamina found herself thrust into Crystal Tokyo, and soon invited as Sailor Nocturnus to a party held by the royal family. She wanted to use this event as an opportunity to plea for help to save her mother, but instead wound up united with a rag-tag group of visiting sailor soldiers on a mission to save the solar system sailor soldiers from a menace known as "The Collector." The fledgling sailor soldier gained many skills on this mission--intergalactic flight with sailor wings, the successful use of her first attack, the discovery of the Celestial Sphere (an item from The Collector's collection), and the successful use of her second attack. Upon the rescue of the captured sailor soldiers and return to Crystal Tokyo, she was granted the Silver Crescent Award and honorary citizenship.

★ Remnants: Nocturnus joins sailor soldiers investigating a distress call received by Crystal Tokyo, and discovers a maze full of traps that blocks their connections to their planets' magical energy. There the team discovers Ribbon, the captive sending the distress signal. Sailor Nocturnus is immediately drawn to the panicked young woman, determined to protect her. As they continue through the maze, the group learns that Ribbon is actually aligned with the enemies seeking to capture the sailor soldiers of the Solar System. However, the bond of budding friendship between Sailor Nocturnus and Ribbon turns the pink-haired newcomer to join their forces instead. When they finally escape the maze, they find the Solar System blocked by a shield. They learn that they have not been gone for days, but instead months, and that something terrible is happening all across the universe... something related to the evil that created the maze they were trapped in...

★ Andromeda Spire: Just after Remnants, Sailor Achelois senses a disturbance on her planet. The team witnesses a horrible thing called a Chaos Seed attempting to turn it to darkness, but the strong guardian of Achelois drives it out. Next, Sailor Andromeda feels the horrible corruption in her planet—another Chaos Seed! Sailor Nocturnus joins the group that travels to Andromeda to help the sailor soldier of this planet defeat the evil lurking there. The Chaos Seed has planted itself in the oceans of Andromeda, building a massive dark spire for protection. The group must breech the spire, find the seed, and destroy it to save the planet. Nocturnus fights as best she can, but is almost killed when an unstable section of the spire caves in. Thankfully her teammates are able to recover and revive her, and she helps them defeat the twisted mermaid guarding the Chaos Seed. Sailor Andromeda destroyed the Chaos Seed, saving her planet, and decided to stay on Andromeda to encourage recovery.

★ Leviathan Core: After Remnants, Sailor Leviathan rushed home to her planet, feeling the terrible omen of a Chaos Seed. Leaving Andromeda, Sailor Nocturnus travels to Leviathan to help Sailor Leviathan defeat it. This Chaos Seed is deep in the core of the gas giant, reluctantly guarded by dragons held hostage by two enemies: the Clam and the Eel. Ribbon has joined the team, and Sailor Nocturnus appoints herself bodyguard for the pink-haired non-sailor soldier. (Particularly given Sailor Leviathan's attachment to the young woman.) They learn that the Clam has captured young dragons and others and is threatening them with harm if the dragons do not block the sailor soldiers from their quest. The group manages to avoid battle with the dragons, managing instead to rally them to their side. A terrible rock slide in one of the narrow mountain passes harms two of their teammates, who they must leave behind to meet the deadline. They split into two groups, learning that the two enemies work together and should be attacked simultaneously. The Chaos Seed group kills the Eel guarding the seed. Sailor Leviathan's friend Enoch reveals his abilities and bolsters his sailor soldier and princess to be able to eradicate the Chaos Seed. Then, they travel to free the dragons from the Clam. The death of the Clam greatly upsets Sailor Leviathan, who accuses the group of being heartless killers. Ribbon, thinking on her past alliances, runs off, overwhelmed with doubt. Nocturnus goes after her just in time to miss the awful transformation of Sailor Enyalius into an agent of Chaos. The armored sailor soldier has been hiding the presence of a Chaos Seed on her own planet, and it has now come to fruition and corrupted the planet and Sailor Crystal. Now the group must track down the evil Sailor Enyalius and destroy her before she can spread evil.

★ Alter Egos: At a traveling night circus, Pamina agrees to have her fortune told by a strange old woman. Instead, she meets a woman who claims to be her shadow self from a future timeline--a future timeline where her mother has been defeated and Pamina has joined the forces of her mother's enemy, Sarastro! She defeats this spectre at the carnival... or does she?

Senshi Uniform: Sailor Nocturnus's uniform consists of an opaque bluish-black bodysuit with sheer black sleeves. The sleeves consist of three rolls of fabric. Her sailor collar is black as well, with a single dark navy stripe near the edge. Her short pleated skirt follows this same structure--black with a single dark navy stripe near the bottom hem. Where her skirt attaches to the bodysuit there is a sheer black v-shaped waistband. At the lowest point of the waistband, right in the center, is a small golden five-pointed star. (All of the stars on Sailor Nocturnus's uniform are five-pointed.) A similar, but larger golden star is affixed at the center of the sheer golden bow on her chest. A matching sheer golden bow is tied at the back of her skirt, attached to the waistband.

She wears elbow-length black gloves. A dark navy ribbon is tied around each wrist, forming a v-shape atop her hand. The point of the v is adorned with a small golden star. At the elbow of each glove is a single navy cuff. She wears low-heeled, pointed-toe black boots that hit several inches below the knee. A dark navy ribbon forms a v-shape atop the vamp of the boots, with a small golden star at the point of the v.

A black choker is her only neck ornamentation, with a small golden star in the center. She wears golden star earrings, and jewel in the center of her golden tiara is a golden star. In her hair, on the right side of her head, is a golden star brooch consisting of a larger star overlaid by a smaller star. Each of her pigtails has a small golden star roughly 8 inches before the end of the pigtail and a larger golden star at the base.

Powers:
★ "Ecliptic Rotation!" - The pointer fingertip of Sailor Nocturnus's right hand begins to glow with golden energy. She grandly gestures around her, tracing a large circular plane roughly approximate to the path of the apparent orbit of the nearest star. As she does so, a glowing golden outline appears in the darkened air, and it tilts on its axis and spins at an increasing speed. This disc grows in size and increases in speed until it becomes a blur, finally shattering outward with shock waves and tiny shooting stars. This causes minor energy and physical damage to multiple opponents within a three meter range of Sailor Nocturnus. It generally does not harm allies, but could cause harm to allies if Sailor Nocturnus's emotional state is distressed or unfocused. It can be used at a higher power level with more sailor soldier experience.
★ "Midnight Zenith!" - The Celestial Sphere, roughly the size of a volleyball, appears in Sailor Nocturnus's outstretched hands, and she cradles it gently on her fingertips. Arching her back and throwing her head back, she gracefully parts her hands and the sphere increases drastically in size, growing until it has projected itself on the sky (or, if indoors, where the sky would approximately be) above them, encircling the area. The many markings within the sphere glow with golden energy. Sailor Nocturnus extends her left arm out to her side, and a dazzling golden star appears at her fingertips. She draws her arm in an upward arc, the star following until it reaches the peak. It shines brightly, strobing three times, and the Celestial Sphere contracts suddenly into the star. The glowing star pierces through the targeted opponent, expanding the Celestial Sphere with golden energy upon contact, engulfing the target. This attack causes significant energy and physical damage to a single opponent. Sailor Nocturnus cannot successfully complete this attack without training.
★ "Starry Aria!" - This attack requires Die Zauberflöte to be performed. Its appearance, effects, and outcome are currently unknown.
★ "My Guardians, Aid Me!" - As she becomes attuned to her powers, Sailor Nocturnus is able to call upon the stars to provide minor assistance to her. This is a low power ability that is not directly an attack. She can summon a variety of uses, as long as they are generally related to the impressions of stars. ★ Asturlab - A flat, circular astrolabe approximately the size of a pocket watch, made of shining brass. This is Sailor Nocturnus's transformation item. The discs rotate and pointers align if there is danger nearby. This item is also used to safely guide her through space-time.
★ Celestial Sphere - A large orb of glittering gold energy that can be expanded or contracted when in Sailor Nocturnus's hands. Plotted upon it are the stars of the distant heavens, represented in the sphere based on Sailor Nocturnus's current location in time and space.
★ Golden Gauntlets - A gift from her mother, Queen Sternflammende, via the mysterious old Crone. Originally given to her during the Andromeda Spire event as a temporary item. This item was returned permanently to Sailor Nocturnus for the next event. They are golden armor providing physical protection for her hands and forearms.
★ Die Zauberflöte - The treasure of Sailor Nocturnus's bloodline is a golden flute that, when played, creates music that offers protection and power to the holder. This weapon is currently in the possession of Queen Sternflammende, Sailor Nocturnus's mother.

And then the explosion.

She jolted awake with a scream, shaking and shivering in a cold sweat. Her skin felt clammy as Pamina reached up with quivering hands to brush her dark hair from her face. The night was dark and silent. No stars or moonlight leaked in through the window. She reached out towards her desk, and the lamp illuminated with a soft glow that burned her eyes at first and then allowed her to glance around the room. Nothing. It was empty and sparse.

This place was vaguely familiar to her home, but it was also so strange. Pamina had been doing her best to observe and mimic, and it wasn't going perfectly but at least well enough that she was able to enroll in school and find a place to sleep. It had been a weird experience--one with plenty of blunders. She wondered how such a thing would even be possible for someone without a bit of... magic... help. She almost felt proud of herself for managing what she had done, but mostly she just felt lonely.

Trying to fall back asleep just wasn't working--her mind was racing and she couldn't calm down. She crawled out of bed, shivering anew as the sweat on her exposed skin started to evaporate. She climbed onto the desk, sitting on the smooth and empty top surface to stare out the window and up at the dark sky. The stars were only the vaguest, palest points of light.

Even so, they looked like home. Pamina reached out, gently touching the cold glass.

"Mother," she wondered, softly, "Are you out there?"

What a neat character. I kind of love the fact that she is untrained and basically not sure of herself as a senshi, and if she is not careful, she could hurt her allies with her powers. I also love her transformation item xD And the RP sample makes me want to hug her hehe

Is the Die Zauberflöte something that Nocturnus will eventually acquire perhaps during a storyline she's involved in? Since it is in her mother's possession right now, and it is an important item, I am just curious about your plans for it xD

I do intend it to be something that she could eventually acquire, pending whether or not that makes sense within a storyline. I wanted to mention it for my own reference, but it should be something that she could wind up having if either a) the queen dies or b) the queen gives it to her. I'm open to opportunities. :DIt all depends on the story!
