so as you all know Haruka, Setsuna, and Michiru are suppose to be only a year or so older than Usagi and the others, do you believe that? When I see them in the anime or in the manga they come off much older than they actually are. Honestly I see them as 18 and up. They can drive, they take care of Hotaru and I don't remember ever hearing about their parents.

When it comes to the Outer Senshi and their age, I often would consider them to be older, but not by only a year. I would considered them to be at somewhere between the ages of 16 - 18 for Haruka and Michiru and Setsuna at an age of a college student so definitely 18 or older.

I don't remember if I'm good or wrong about it but hasn't it been mentionned somewhere Setsuna was actually 19?

They look older in the manga but in the anime OMG they def look in their 20's i mean the height difference especially, they are all like a foot taller than the inner senshi lol

Setsuna. Come on. She looks like she is in her early to mid 20's. Just the way she is portrayed. Haruka and Michiru look to be about 18 or 19.

Lol, I've always thought similarily about the inners. The first few volumes? 14 to 15 years old. R? a solid 15. S? 16. ... by Stars, they look like they're 17 or 18 years old, not just turning 16.

But if they really were only 16 when Stars finished, then I could easily see the outers starting at age 16 - they look really grown up, but the inners look even moreso in Stars, so being 16 in S isn't that much a stretch, to me.

Perhaps Naoko was getting at something like...due to them being Senshi they will always look more older and mature than their actual age? It kind of defines them. I would imagine the fast aging of the inners would make sense with them maturing as Senshi too.

That or Naoko just forgot what ages they were supposed to be when she was drawing them later on. XD

I'd have to say the inners are all 14/15/16 throughout the series - Sailor's Neptune and Uranus would be 16/17/18 but Setsuna, she was at least 18/19 - wasn't she the school nurse at Chibiusa's school? How old is Hotaru then? Since she's always being reborn. What age can we calculate her to be at?

I remember talking to other Saturn fanactics about this very same question when it came to Saturn. In the 'S' arc/season, I strongly believe that Hotaru is around 12/13 years of age. I know this seems to be a strange age range for her since she is friends with Chibiusa, but remember she realy didn't have friends during this arc because of her body/Mistress 9's possession. As in the Stars season/arc, I think she matures to around the age of 7-8ish (at least in the anime) but this was always so controverital (sp??) since she always seems older when she is Sailor Saturn.

Now these ages are based on the anime version...not so sure on the manga just yet.

I think in general all of the senshi look a lot older than their supposed to be. I know some have also complained that Naoko in the manga drew the senshi's busts too ample. I disagree.

But to me, Haruka and Michiru are like 16-17, Setsuna doesn't have an age, but as a cover up, same age as Mamoru, which would be 18. Hotaru (intially) was 12-13 in S and then about 9-10 in Stars.

And to add to this discussion, from what WhiteMoonFamily said, about people complaining about their busts being too big...you know what. I know not all girls that age have that big of breasts, but i think i always liked how they seemed more mature to me. I've always been a bit largely endowed in the chest area from a young age, and I'm a bit of the center of attention when it comes to big boob jokes (i can't help they get in the way sometimes lol) so I think it was comforting for me to see the girls more matured. Also, I feel like I've always been more mature for my age and often times I forget how young I am and will think I'm actually a few years older. It's weird, but its another way I could always relate to the girls in Sailor Moon. They really had to mature so much very fast.

YESSSSS FINALLY. I totally agree. I'm not going to lie, but I "bloomed" like at nine and had a pretty full chest by the time I was 12. To see the girls in a more mature light made me more comfortable, if that makes any sense? I found it to be normal, and it wasn't like they were super awkwardly XL boobs or anything. HAHA

When I think of Pluto, I image an older woman in her early 20's, since she seems so mature and more grown up. As for Uranus and Neptune, I picture 18-20year olds. And of course Saturn is just a little girl.

Well I always felt inadequate due to my smaller breast size. Haha, totally kidding. I don't see why they were worried, again with the unnecessary shame of a human body, people please!

Well, in the manga Haruka and Michiru are portrayed as being highschool students during the Infinity Arc, then the Dream Arc takes place 6 months after and they are showed out of school, raising a child, and having highly professional jobs (though they are noted to already have those jobs during the previous arc). The Stars Arc (which I presume takes place right after the Dream Arc) shows their return to highschool, but it isn't stated what grade they are in.

My guess? Haruka and Michiru are probably older then the "Inners" by one to two years, but look very mature for their age (but not enough to pay for their own apartments according to the fact that Haruka mentions they have 'benefactors'). It can probably be guessed at that being international stars would explain why they were allowed to wander for 6 months outside of school.

As for Setsuna, during the Infinity Arc she refers to herself as a freshman studying physical science so we can say she's over age 18. During the Dream Arc, she is apparently working as a scientist and then switches over as a nurse who can pass as Hotaru's mother, which I assume means she has multiple degrees. I'm going to say that she's probably early to mid twenties, but in the case of Setsuna we have to remember she is the time guardian. She probably has a 'timeless' look to her, allowing her to pass as any age she needs (but that's could be my headcanon)--or, ya, she's abuse the time stream like whoa to get as many degrees as she possibly can.

In Chibiusa's Picture Diary 4, Chibiusa's says she's in the 6th grade, and since it can be assumed Hotaru goes to class with her, this would suggest she's 11-12 (this is me guessing based on what I know of the Japan Eduction system though).

Oh and the boobs range discussion. I've had a large size despite being rather tiny, so to suggest that they "blossomed" early isn't crazy. Anyway, Makoto has a pretty big cup size herself as the anime has hinted. (She's Talented~ everyone)
