Making an avatar for myself and I don't like the blank background. What should I put there/any other tips?

try a pinkish color!

try adding some textures on multiply then use layer masks to erase around the edges. when using textures, you should definitely try some of the more simple types such as gradients, or full colour textures. :3 or if you wanna add more depth the the colours of the images definitely try using some textures on soft light :3

i really like the pink background and it's definitely looking really pretty right now. you should add a bit of adj. layers if you wanna mix around with the colours a bit or just use it how it is. (depends on your tastes)
