Advanced Character Profile
Character Name: Tsukino Usa "Bunny"
Her surname, 月野, contains the kanji for "moon" and "field." When pronounced, it sounds like the possessive phrase, "of the moon." Her given name, 羽咲, contains the kanji for "feather" and "blossom." Her parents chose it because it sounded reminiscent of her mother's name, with the "feather" and "blossom" references to her father's time as Pegasus and the rose gardens of her grandfather, Endymion. She was nicknamed "Bunny" as an infant, as carrots were (and are) her favourite food. (Note: Literally the English word "bunny," written/pronounced "バニー/banii.") Although Bunny is a princess, as she was born to the King and Queen, she does not have a royal title.
Gender: Female
Age and Date of Birth: 14 and July 1
Used Canons: Manga and anime inspirations; this character did not exist in anime or manga.
Appearance: Bunny is rather short, 4'9" (145cm) tall if she's standing as straight and tall as possible. She has fair skin and a very underdeveloped build. Her narrow torso is almost entirely straight; she has virtually no bust or curves. Her thin limbs are somewhat long, as though she hasn't quite grown into them. Overall, her shape is very childlike.
Everyone was surprised to see a child born to the White Moon with such dark hair, but the colour and sheen is clearly inherited from her grandfather, King Endymion. Bunny's curly bangs are parted down the center, and they roll up into tight spirals directly on either side of her part, with the other hair curving against the central spirals. Her bangs frame the golden crescent moon in the center of her forehead. A curl or two of hair falls before each ear.
Typically her hair is pulled back into two pigtails with very flat oval buns at the top of each. Her hair is somewhat thin, and although her pigtails curl at the end they are not as thick or heavy as that of her mother and grandmother. Her hair is also cut much shorter than theirs or her older sister--when left down, it does not quite reach her waist. The pigtails fall just past her shoulders.
Her large eyes are a bright ruby red, framed with short dark lashes. She frequently wears large round lens silver-framed glasses, especially when reading.
Generally Bunny wears either a formal dress or her school uniform. She is frequently tutored in the palace and thus isn't often seen on campus, but her program is considered to be part of the nearby school that was once the school the 20th century's Usagi attended. The school uniform consists of a white blouse with a double collar and a knee-length pleated skirt of dark red tweed. Over the blouse students may either wear a navy blue cardigan or blazer. (Bunny prefers the cardigan.) There is a thin dark red ribbon tied at the blouse's collar. Socks or tights may be white or navy. Acceptable shoes are dark brown loafers or low-heeled Mary Janes in black or dark brown. Bunny usually wears over-the-knee navy socks and dark brown Mary Janes.
She always has a small golden crescent moon pin that she initially keeps hidden, but eventually moves to wearing it openly--usually on the collar of her blouse or pinned to her outfit of her heart.
Personality: The youngest princess of the White Moon family, Bunny has always been sheltered and coddled. As a result, she has an naive sweetness and innocence as well as a lack of comprehension about most things in "the outside world."
Bunny is an avid reader; she's almost always seen with her nose in a book. Bunny enjoys nearly any written text--she reads novels, popular fiction, biographies, and newspapers on a regular basis. She spends hours upon hours in the palace library, and her closest companion is her digital book. Bunny soaks up facts and tidbits from everything she reads, and the majority of her life experience is summarized from the fiction and nonfiction that she consumes. She could acquaint you with numerous habits of the giant octopus, provide advice for patching up your troubled marriage, assist you with plans to host a large formal dining event, or teach you about failed health ideas prior to germ theory. At least, she thinks she can. The vast majority of Bunny's knowledge is unrelated to her actual experiences.
Her life has been so calm and gentle that she is not even fully aware how little she knows of life. Bunny is untested by strife or calamity. This is problematic because learning to deal with crises and unpleasant situations are essential to happiness. Bunny's happiness, by contrast, is a temporal thing supported by the hard work of many others and virtually no effort of her own. Until she realizes this, she cannot be considered mature or independent--and she must acquire both maturity and independence to be a successful adult, regardless of any status as royalty.
Her nature is easy-going and easily pleased. Although she has been doted over from her birth, she is not selfish or demanding. Generally, Bunny is pleased and satisfied with whatever is offered to her--be it a schedule, a food item, or a conversation. In fact, she has trouble making up her own mind for even small decisions; she's had everything planned and arranged for her entire life, and her own skills for critical decision-making are lacking. She typically defers to the opinions or choices of others, wiggling out of actually deciding on anything, even something small and unimportant, whenever possible.
Bunny is also sympathetic and kind. She feels deeply grieved by injustice--although honestly she knows very little of the scope of injustice and unfairness in the world--and wants to solve everyone's problems. Lacking actual experience, she's typically not very good at doing so. Although she is sympathetic, she is not empathetic. She doesn't have the emotional practice to understand what it's like to be in the situation of a wronged or unhappy person, she has only the vaguest concept of how it
might feel based on what she's read in various novels or other books. Soft-hearted Bunny still tries to be helpful and do whatever it is that she thinks will make the problem go away or make that person happy, but her solutions rarely even scratch the surface of the issues. On a fundamental level, she cannot understand the problem enough to understand how to fix it.
Towards others, Bunny is open and trusting. She has no reason to be anything else; everyone has been kind and loving towards her. The people of Crystal Tokyo admire her for her status as youngest princess, and her family loves her unconditionally. Bunny believes in the goodness in everyone's hearts. She'll give any person a second chance, and a third, and a forth, and a fifth. She believes in the capacity to change and learn to do the right thing. After all, nearly all of the novels that she's read feature glorious character metamorphoses from "bad" to "good!"
She has met very few people and has no real friends beyond that of her elder sister, who she cherishes and adores. Bunny thinks that her older sister is amazing. She's strong, and graceful, and poised, and elegant. She's beautiful, too--beautiful like their mother and grandmother. In Bunny's eyes, her sister can do nothing wrong. She's perfect. She's Bunny's idol--exactly the sort of person Bunny aspires to be.
Bunny is a devoted student--she enjoys reading school and training-related material as much as she likes reading for a hobby. She likes completing projects and meeting deadlines. Regardless of the subject, Bunny will do her best to apply her full attention. Due to the level of effort and attention that she puts into her work, her grades and performance are strong. Bunny did not experience the degree and scope of training and schooling that her older sister was subjected to because as the younger daughter Bunny would never ascend the throne. She still must be an exemplary princess, but she's had more free time and less stress. One of the reasons that Bunny took to reading as a hobby was to fill the time when her older sister was busy with lessons and obligations.
At this point in her life, Bunny does not have any concrete goals. She changes her mind constantly; mostly depending on what she's read most recently and what her attention is focused on. Sometimes she thinks she wants to be a regal figure like their mother. Sometimes she thinks she wants a big family. Sometimes she wants to be a teacher. Sometimes she wants to be a journalist. Or a writer. Or an artist. Sometimes she wants a beautiful romance. Sometimes she wants to overcome and triumph entirely on her own. The list goes on and on.
Any Unique Abilities/Skills: The youngest princess has always seemed completely average. She has never displayed any unusual abilities or skills.
History: A second princess was not something the public (or the royal family) expected or anticipated. It had been believed that the queen would only give birth to a single heir, but another daughter was born to the King and Queen only a few years after their first. Her parents loved their second daughter from the moment they knew she would be a part of their family, and her older sister felt the same. Bunny grew up in a happy family in the beautiful Crystal Tokyo and idyllic Elysion.
Although she is a princess she will never be their queen, and as a result Bunny's life has been significantly less stressful than that of her elder sister. She is still held to high standards. There are expectations for her behavior and demeanor. However, the duties and responsibilities of a younger princess are much less taxing than that of an older daughter who will one day rule the kingdom. Not required to attend all diplomatic events and not expected to inherit any powers as a sailor soldier, she was often left to her own devices. Rather than exploring the world outside the palace or connecting with others, Bunny turned her attention inward--toward books and her imagination.
Her family and palace staff always felt protective of the "other" princess, if only because she was younger and less "important" than her older sister. They made sure that she was safe and cared for, because they loved her. She was excluded from political and strategic meetings and discussions, not to keep her ignorant of policy but to keep focus on the decisions that needed to be made by the people who would be making them. Although she has visited Elysion numerous times, she is not involved in the work of her father and feels no strong connection to the dreams of the people. As long as she was responsible for her schoolwork and displayed a good attitude, her parents were satisfied with her performance. They kept most of their focus on grooming her elder sister to inherit the throne and rule the kingdom.
Bunny enjoyed reading and learning, and quickly discovered that applying herself towards her studies pleased her parents, so that became her primary focus. Her academic drive lead to her being tutored in the palace, with teachers moving along at her pace and crafting lesson plans specific to her interests. Bunny is neither a genius nor is she particularly gifted, but she doesn't mind working hard and enjoys the praise and satisfaction from her parents. Like most children, she wants to please them. She has yet to reach a point in her education where she has been anything other than interested in the challenge, and the influence she can exert over her lessons has prevented her from being burned out or bored. Unfortunately, this drive has not translated well to non-academic interests. She doesn't have any established hobbies or other activities that would encourage her to get outside her safe zone and engage in a variety of experiences.
Bunny's somewhat unconventional private tutor program does take her outside of the palace. She regularly--although not frequently--goes on excursions to locations or events related to topics of study. These outings are all small undercover trips where her identity as the second princess is not revealed. These small doses of exposure to the outside world have yet to make a lasting impression on her. In fact, she is relieved to be back home. This lack of interest in exploration puts her at odds with her older sister, who longs for freedom.
Although she bears the mark of the crescent moon, Bunny displayed no unusual abilities or powers. She was thought to have not inherited any of her parents' powers, as if all of that had passed to her older sister instead. It was a serious shock to everyone involved when she first transformed into Sailor Moon. Technically, she would be considered a sailor-soldier-in-training rather than a fully-fledged sailor soldier like her sister, Sailor Elysion. At her current state, Sailor Moon has little ability to control her powers and lacks the combat training that was drilled into the older princess for so many years even prior to her awakening. There has been an attempt to "catch up" Sailor Moon, but her physical training has not been as successful as hoped--at least not yet.
When they were very young, the two princesses were often told tales of their mother and grandmother's battles and victories as Sailor Moon. The elder princess may have dreamed that one day she would carry on that title, but the younger princess was merely dazzled by the stories. She loved to hear about Sailor Moon and read stories about Sailor Moon, but she never imagined herself as Sailor Moon. In fact, Bunny also believed that her older sister would one day awaken as the sailor soldier who could control the Silver Crystal. She wasn't even envious--to her, it seemed natural and correct that the girl who would one day become queen would be the same girl who would fight for love and justice.
Bunny began having strange dreams about a woman in a long white dress with pale lilac hair. At first the dreams were faded and lacked detail, and she forgot them immediately upon awakening. Yet slowly, over time, more and more aspects of the dream became clear to her. The beautiful woman looked like her mother and her grandmother, but she was someone Bunny did not know. The lady told Bunny stories about a place with palaces of marble and flowers unlike those in the palace gardens, a place with pools and lilies and a beautiful blue orb that hung in the sky both day and night.
In one dream, the woman gave her a gift--a small golden crescent moon pin, exactly like the one on the front of the lady's white dress. When Bunny awoke, she found that the crescent was clutched in her hand. It seemed like something out of a story; she kept the secret to herself, afraid that if she told her sister or anyone else that the dreams and the memory would fall apart and she'd find out it never actually happened.

Senshi Fuku: Sailor Moon wears a
white bodysuit with side panels of
pale violet-pink. Her sailor collar is
Prussian blue with a wide stripe of
white near the edge. The bodysuit has short, straight, slightly loose sleeves that carry the same
white and
pale violet-pink style established by the bodysuit. They have rectangular cuffs of
Prussian blue with a wide
white stripe, mimicking the pattern on her sailor collar. Her short pleated skirt follows the same design. Where the skirt attaches to the bodysuit there is a padded v-shaped waistband of
fuschia. In the center of her chest is a large sheer bow of
fuschia. A matching bow is affixed to the waistband at the small of her back. In the center of the front bow is a large
golden crescent in the same style as the White Moon birthmark. Another similar crescent is perched in her hair at the base of her right bun; she wears no other hair ornaments. Her elbow-length
white gloves are loose near the end of the glove. A few inches from the cuff of the glove are two thin stripes,
pale violet-pink and
fuschia. On her legs she wears sheer
white thigh-high stockings with a scalloped hem. Her shoes are
Prussian blue round-toed flats with two stacked ankle straps, one

Powers:"Luna Sparkle!" (low) Sailor Moon signals with her hands and reflects a flash of light from her central brooch or the crescent clip worn in her hair. The light can stun, confuse, wound, distract, or illuminate. It may be able to destroy a very novice or low-power enemy, but this is very rare. It requires very little energy from Sailor Moon to perform this attack, but it is also easy to avoid or deflect.
"Moonlight Pillar!" (high) Sailor Moon clasps her hands together at her chest, bowing her head. Then she slowly raises her arms and opens her hands until her arms are fully extended above her head. A brilliant, overly large full moon appears behind her, glowing and beautiful. As she speaks, a brilliant beam of vertical light shoots down from the sky, surrounding her target. This attack purifies and heals depending on the strength of Sailor Moon's heart. If the target cannot be purified, it will disintegrate into dust. If Sailor Moon is weak, distracted, or conflicted, she will not be able to perform this attack.
Sailor Moon is able to channel power and energy from other allies, either boosting their attacks by amplification or utilizing their energy to increase the intensity of her own attack.
When she has awakened its power within her, Sailor Moon is able to use the Silver Crystal as her ancestors have. The effectiveness and power level fluctuate depending on the strength of her conviction and her purity of heart.
Magical Items: Communicator - Bunny's handheld communicator resembles a rectangular smartphone. It features a touch-screen, and can be used to video-conference with registered contacts; receive text, voice, or video messages; and perform minor calculations and analyses of opponents.
Serenity Pin - This item initially allows Bunny to transform into Sailor Moon, before she receives her compact. It is a small golden pin, roughly 2"/5cm diameter, of a crescent moon.
Prism Compact - This item allows Bunny to transform into Sailor Moon. It is a circular compact with a crescent moon. Within the crescent is a diamond flanked by two circles, reminiscent of the alchemical symbol for silver.
Silver Crystal - This is a beautiful crystal that shines with the purest light. Sometimes it looks like a multifaceted cut gemstone, and other times it blossoms into a floral shape.
RP Sample:The rest of the palace seemed to hang under a slightly gloomy cloud, but Usa was never bothered by the rain. She rather liked it--everything was slightly darker under the haze of the clouds, and the pitter-patter of raindrops could sound like white noise or music. She didn't even mind thunder or lightning. She felt peaceful when she could watch the rain drip down from the gray sky from the safety and comfort of the Crystal Palace. When the rain storm was over, the Earth seemed refreshed and sometimes there was even a beautiful rainbow--it gave her something to look forward to as the droplets fell.
Her lessons were over for today, so the youngest princess quietly shuffled down the hallway towards the library. No one was milling about in that area as she pulled the heavy doors open and slipped inside. By this point, she knew the organization of the massive collection by heart, and it didn't take long for her to select a much-loved novel and leave. Her departure was as silent and unnoticed as her arrival.
She hustled down empty corridors, the familiar halls almost eerily ever silent since Papa had gotten sick, and climbed numerous staircases to move from level to level within the expansive crystal structure. It didn't take long for her to reach her destination--she had lived in the palace her entire life, and she knew every entrance and exit and passage backwards and forwards. Stepping into the topmost room of one of the crystal towers, Usa could see the star-shaped Crystal Tokyo layout stretch out all around her. With the falling rain, everything seemed coated in a pale haze.
The raindrops drummed loudly on the glass of this small room. She liked the noise. It covered up her own unwanted and unbidden thoughts and worries. It was hard for her to deal with the king's failing health--if the doctors and Mama could not help him get better, what could she do? The dark-haired princess settled down on the floor, tucking her small form under one of the eaves and opening her book. At least, for a while, she'd be in another world. A world that stayed on the pages.
