This debate centers on the power of Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi-Moon. When Sailor Chibi-Moon matures into her own power, will she be weaker, as strong as, or stronger than Sailor Moon? I think she has room for further potential, because she is a unique union of the Golden Kingdom and the Silver Millennium (represented through Crystal Tokyo).

I agree; I believe that since she can control the power of her own Pink Crystal and yet has a known affinity towards the Silver Crystal, thus an assumed affinity for the Golden Crystal as well, I think in her purest state she might be able to call upon the powers of all three if she wished.

And as her crystal is linked to not one, but two celestial bodies to begin with, it just adds more punch.

This is a good question. I have no idea really. I want to say Chibiusa will either be equal in power or she has the potential to surpass Usagi. One part of me thinks equal because I feel like her pink moon crystal is like the silver crystal, just more fitted to her personally. But at the same time, since she is the daughter of Usagi and Mamoru, representations of the moon and Earth, she could have the capability to surpass Usagi in power. Kinda like how if I recall correctly, Gohan is stronger than just a regular seiyan in DBZ because he has a human mother and since he is half human, half seiyan, he's stronger than a regular seiyan.

I dunno though. I feel like she will either be equal to in power or she will surpass Usagi. I'm curious to see other thoughts C:

I believe that Sailor Moon will always be the strongest, regardless of what Crystals Chibi Usa may hold or anyone else. Mamoru has said that she has the brightest star shine in the universe and I think there is just something different about Sailor Moon that will always separate her from the rest. So much of it has to do with her personality, her pure-hearted faith and unwavering determination. I think Chibi Usa is a bit more... human, in the way she thinks and feels.

The Silver Crystal is indeed a very powerful factor but even Queen Serenity wielded it and I do not think she was as strong as Usagi is in her strongest form.

Even though Chibi Usa may be linked to all three Crystals, I think each crystal reacts strongest, to its truest potential, when linked with its owner - as if each crystal is apart of its owner in some way. Chibi Usa might be able to call upon all three crystals if she ever needed to, but I believe so could Sailor Moon, and that she would be able to draw a stronger combination of powers than Chibi Usa. I just do not think that Chibi Usa is as pure-hearted as Usagi is.

I agree with Jupiter, Sailor Moon is the galaxy's most powerful soldier because of her unique shine, the wonderful shine of her pure heart.

Sailor Moon's pure heart allowed her to become Super Sailor Moon before the chalice gave Chibi Moon the power to become Super Sailor Chibi Moon. Also, Sailor Moon always leads the other soldiers into their new transformations. Accoding to the theory that Sailor Comos is the future Sailor Moon, this means that Chibi Moon is at least weaker than the future Sailor Moon, if not dead, by the time Chaos shows up.

Do you guys feel like Sailor Moon is basically a goddess due to her shine?

I never thought of it that way either. Huh. But that's in a way why I brought up if people kind of look at Usagi/Sailor Moon as like a goddess. The most powerful in the universe, the brightest shine, the most pure, etc. to the point where no one, not even her own daughter could even possibly meet or surpass her.

I might be bias - she is my favourite. But I honestly believe she will always be more powerful. Lookit the things she has done? If the Moon line continues, I think all of the Sailor Moon's that will come after will become extremely powerful, but never with such the impact as Usagi had. Continuing to be a legend, all that jazz and hoo ha. <3

I can see that, definitely, but....no one knows the exact details of what the future holds once Usagi becomes queen and Chibiusa becomes the new Sailor Moon. No one knows what kind of bad guys she fights or what kind of power she is capable of tapping into. So, how do we know then that Chibiusa may not be able to harness power like Usagi? Yes, they are two separate people and Usagi seems to be more pure of heart than her daughter, but who's to say Chibiusa wouldn't turn out to be a character similar to that of her mother? Chibiusa's dream is to be just like her mother after all...

And apparently, Sailor Cosmos being the future Sailor Moon is just a theory. Even if it is Usagi in the future, she's obviously not Sailor Moon anymore, she's Sailor Cosmos. That means Chibiusa could be just as powerful as her mother was when her mother was Sailor Moon, no?

Ah no, you make sense ^^ I understand where you're coming from. And this may be true of Usagi given she is Sailor Cosmos. However, I still feel like, when Chibiusa is Sailor Moon, she has potential to wield as much power as Usagi did when she was Sailor Moon. Chibiusa's Pink Moon Crystal is unique and fitted to her, but we don't know all the details on what kind of power it holds. We do know that the Pink Moon Crystal is an evolved form of the Silver Crystal, so that right there says to me Chibiusa can at least wield the power of the Silver Crystal (note the R season where she is holding the future Silver Crystal in the future fighting along side Usagi against Wiseman). Then, the Pink Moon Crystal is adapted to fit Chibiusa. Meaning, it's made to fit her and her power. So, if anything, it's possible she is equivalent to Usagi in power at the very least.

I still hold that Chibiusa could maybe at least be able to harness power equal to her mother's because of her crystal. I mean obviously Sailor Moon is like the boss of the universe and all that, but Chibiusa is her successor. I still say anything is possible.

Chibiusa will also have had way more experience than Moon by the time she gets older because she started so young? Like, if Chibiusa and Usagi died at the same age, Chibi would have had waaaaay more time fighting. She also had Moon and the other scouts as mentors, while Moon only had Luna. Although she had the outers later on, they weren't reallly around. Chibi got to see Moon and everyone fight at a young age, and she already knows what she's doing. I think that could definitely give her an advantage.

I think that Sailor Moon will remain the strongest senshi in the universe. Her heart is pure enough to release the true power of the silver crystal. If anyone other than her jumped into the cauldron to try and destroy chaos I don't think it would have worked. Even cosmos states that she could never be as strong as sailor moon.

And speaking of the cauldron, Chaos, although not destroyed, was hurt pretty badly when sailor moon fought it. So much I believe, that chibimoon wouldn't have to fight evil in her lifetime, and so I believe she wouldnt need to become any stronger.

Actually, no, because Usagi is 14-16 while chibiusa is 903+ years old lol.

It's personal head canon that Usagi and her friends are the strongest; Chibiusa may get close, but she'll never quite reach or surpass her mother. Being half moon and half earth doesn't make me think she'd get any special advantage, as she's likely to only inherit the power of the moon.

It probably depends on who becomes Sailor Cosmos. If Usagi is Sailor Cosmos, then she would be, but I wonder how she would get the Silver Crystal again. I guess she might develop another Sailor Crystal, but that would kind of be a bit weird, to be all-powerful without the most powerful crystal again. Although the line about her being the brightest star might have been Mamoru being nice, she definitely would have been the most powerful at the end of the manga. If Chibiusa becomes the future Sailor Moon, and then later Sailor Cosmos, it would both make her more powerful and still mean that Sailor Moon was the most powerful soldier.
That the Silver Crystal wasn't exactly attached to her like with the other Senshi was always quite an interesting thing.
As for the whether Chibi-Moon may become more powerful during Neo-Queen Serenity's tenure, I guess that is possible. She has her new Pink Moon Crystal transformed from her Silver Crystal. That wouldn't necessarily guarantee she would be powerful though, as out of all the possessors of the Ginzuishou Usagi was the one who could actually use its power the best, and I have to agree that her heart is probably the best suited to it. Fiction also tends to be all over the place, to be frank, when it comes to the whole descent thing (in Dragonball, S-Cells increase with a gentle heart and training, and can be inherited though too). She has plenty of time, regardless, to prepare for being the future queen, so some time indefinitely in the future Chibiusa would become as powerful as Usagi Sailor Moon at least.

I would think Usagi will be Sailor Cosmos though, personally, since I really feel that she is worthy of that kind of power, but that's kind of my fan canon.

I think I agree with Jupiter Rose that there really isn't enough information to make even a well-educated guess on this one. And Mamoru's words are obviously in awe of his soulmate's accomplishments and spirit, but still subjective. It's still a fun topic to think about, of course :p.

We do see Usagi surmount what seems like an impossible challenge requiring such a great inner strength and love at the end of the series. I do agree that it's meant to be "THE END" truly and that with absolutely no hints at future threats greater than the last one in the series, it is probably safe to assume that Chibiusa will never face such a challenge to test her mettle, whether she has the potential to rise to it or not.

And of course, as mentioned by deathrebirthsenshi, Chibiusa is technically already pretty old - at least if you're going by manga/Crystal. Which is actually somewhat appropriate given imo she does display greater strength in the later part of the series compared to her anime counterpart.

Personally, if anything I think that her greatest challenges will come in a different form in the last part of her life that will have almost nothing to do with all-out evil threats at all. It'll be more related to governing Crystal Tokyo if I had to guess. After all, that's what most of her life's training is devoted to. Her stint as a Sailor Senshi in the past is relatively short in comparison (though again going by her manga age). I think it's just another experience that gives her the needed experience and vantage point to be able to deal with complex issues facing Crystal Tokyo in her later life, regardless of Neo Queen Serenity's fate.

So, I guess my conclusion is that if anything they will be equal in strength but that the comparison is too hard to make. It's a bit like trying to compare the strengths of Saturn and Moon. Just like how their crystals are different, so are their souls and their fates. They're meant to make somewhat of a complimentary team when they work together, so for me it fits that fact as well. It's obvious that they're both very capable and that Chibiusa has a lot of *potential* to live up to Usagi's legacy but we just don't see enough evidence to know if she'll have to.
