Hallo party people! Today I am going to teach you how to color manga scans!

Here is the scan I used (I cleaned it) and the finished version of it!

Step one!
Pick your scan and do any cleaning/re-drawing (if you're brave like dat) it may need! A clean scan is a happy scan! ~ It's also easier to color manga scans if you don't have all those icky things distracting you from the main focal point you'd like to color.
Here is an example of a cleaned up scan I did just recently.

Step Two!
Set your Scan to "Multiply"
Right Click > Blending Options > Multiply


Step Three!
Make a new layer right under your scan and title it whatever you'd like to start on




Step Four!
Pick the color you'd like to go with and start coloring your first part of your scan! Don't be afraid to color outside the lines, you can always use the eraser too to erase away stray marks!



Step Five
Repeat steps 3 & 4 until your entire image is colored like this!


PRO TIP!
When coloring, group all your layers together by what section of the person they are on! This is what my groups look like.

This keeps everything neat and organized so it is able to be found easily.

Step Six
This is about the time you can start shading. (You can repeat steps 3 & 4 for shading) I'm no shading master so all I can really tell you is so go with what you think is right. I try to use lighter and darker colors, depending on what part of the body I am on.

Step Seven
Background coloring and other things!
For this particular scan, I felt that nothing extra for the background was really needed, because I wanted the main focus to be on Rivaille himself, so I just added a simple dark grey color and added text. Along with that I also colored the blood on his blades.
