Let's say that you already have figured out the plot for your story, and the plot points for the chapter you're writing. Also you kinda feel like writing today.
But, something just isn't right.
One of my tips for the writing process, is that you have to be in "da mood".
What is "da mood"? Not being thirsty, hungry, sleepy and wanting to write. Sure, you might have read on the internet that you should write everyday as kind of an exercise, but writing is also about doing it because you love doing it. If you feel like you have to write today, but don't have the inspiration or will to do it, then don't do it. Why? Because you're a writer, and you probably are also a perfectionist, so even if you're just drafting you want it to be right.
When you are going to write, make sure you have eaten and drank something already. Also if you're sleepy and you know a nap it's not gonna help (or in other case, it's still early to sleep) then wash your face. It works, unless you're completely exhausted, then probably the best thing to do is sleep, unless you can't because inspiration.
Also, it's important to know what you're going to write about. Some writers might be able to just write on the stop,
I can't. Haha.
In all seriousness, sometimes you feel like you could finish the chapter you're writing, but then it comes that moment. Oh, yes, that damn moment when you suddenly just can't write. Why is that? Well, it has happened to me, that I'm writing an scene and suddenly I just don't know what the characters are going to say. And then I stress out thinking about it.
To avoid this most times, write the whole plot of the chapter and then the plot points. I have recently started doing so, I do it in a Word document which has the following scheme:
Fan Fiction: (insert series/anime/ title)
Title: (insert fan fic's title)
Chapter: (chapter number) (chapter's title, if it has any)
Plot: (here you write the whole plot)
Plot Points:
- Or more accurately, plot dots, hahaha. Jokes aside, here it goes every single thing that's going to happen through the chapter.
It makes the writing process simpler, you don't have to stress out that much thinking about what should follow, because you already wrote it down. Just look at the document or paper in which you wrote it, and it may be easier for the words to come to you.
Also, it helps not worrying about how much words you're writing.
So, that's it. I hope it can help you guys out.
