I wanted to start a thread for people who think they will be hit by the Hurricane, so #1 we can pray for you, and #2 so we know what is up if you poof.

We'll be holding down the fort here in NYC. Hopefully things will remain stable.

I'm near Saratoga Springs, NY. Our power is expected to go out for 3-5 days. We'll see what happens! Tonight I'm going emergency grocery-store run and other stock up stuff. Such crazy weather this week -- first an earthquake, now a hurricane. And here I was SURE I didn't live in Japan. =p

I'm in Baltimore, which appears to be on the veeeeeery edge of the [projected] affected area. I just happen have a ton of water bottles I've saved up over the years, so me and my brother are probably going to fill them all up and stick them in the fridge. I'm hoping my dad goes to the grocery store tonight @__@ Fortunately our stove is run by gas instead of electricity, so we'll be able to cook things if we need to. Wish us luck!

Reporting in from St. Augustine, FL!! It's not supposed to hit us directly but we will be having a bunch of rain like today (It literally poured on my way to school this morning).. Hopefully everyone will be safe!!

I'm in Florida so we were completly skirted around by this one, I have family that lives 21 miles from the coast in NC who we've lost contact with at this time. (My gran and her husband)
I'm not worried about them at this point, as power outages and phone down's is fairly norm with the amount of people that immediately jump on the trying to contact people.

Everything is fine on my end. Lost power for an hour or so last night, but that was the worst of it.

Well that was lame. All it did in upstate NY was rain a bit, a tree somewhere in the county fell down. That was it. All that happened was that the mall and all the fun in town shut down for no good reason. Ahh well. Good that everybody in my area is safe, though!

Quite frankly, better safe than sorry. After Katrina, the margin of error was shown to be slim. And then we had a mess of a snowstorm here in New York City. This time, most everyone was prepared, and the worst that really comes of it (at least in New York) is inconvenience.

Some other states were hit rather hard, however.

I agree! But, I reaaally wanna start a nerve wracking political discussion about it because just the way the media has portrayed things compared to if it had happened down here. lsdjgfoaiwruetwgkjsdfkl. But I'll hold my tongue. ><

I'm in Waterville, ME. On my phone. Eh, things aren't good to be honest. I'll let you know when I'll be coming back. We lost power all over the county. Streets are rivers, bridges are either under water or washed away. /rant I dont want to talk about it too much. Everyone else stay safe!

I wasn't on during the morning yesterday due to cable/Internet/phone outage here in Gloversville, New York. Fortunately, we are ok and so is our city. A few trees might have been knocked down from the horrible wind along with some power outages in some places but other than that nothing. I wasn't even aware that we were supposed to be hit until Saturday lol. Other parts of New York I can't say much for. Certain places have been majorly flooded and there was a Mudslide. None of that was near us though. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been majorly affected by it. Be careful and stay safe (: <3

Guys, my University and my city is shutting down tomorrow. The storm is starting to hit, winds picking up. So far not bad but time will tell. I live in NE PA, so after this hurricane I am getting a bad snow storm as well.

Posting again since colleges are closing, so this means stuff is getting serious here.

(is it wrong that I wish we were getting something like that over here on the west coast? It's clear skies and really annoying. Not that anything like that can ever happen on the west coast, but rain would be nice...)

Yeah I live in Maryland and my school has closed, gov't offices have closed and some of the schools are converting into shelters starting tonight. I probably will lose power and it sucks since I live in the woods...surround by trees :p My parents better have insurance XD.

I'm used to hurricanes but this one is gunna be a dozy with that cold front coming through. Please stay safe and don't any of you have any crazy Hurricane parties! If it looks bad, get out!

We're supposed to get hit really bad but I am not sure how things will play out. If I vanish for the next few days it will be due to a power loss, but we will see! The storm is to come tonight and be really bad tomorrow, on Tuesday.

^^ Ditto with the power loss. My job shut down today and my college is closing again tomorrow. Nothing too bad here yet.

My school closed tomorrow too and our power already flickered on and off three times and it hasn't even gotten bad yet :p
