| I think a big chunk is filler because Naoko was writing and the anime was ahead of the manga. |

| I was gonna say, you guys have been doing a fantastic job in terms of bumping old threads.
I defiantly need to give this one a better look through, there's just so much content to filter through. Though the way I see it, if it doesn't attribute to the main themes and plot, it's filler. It also might make sense to see when the episodes aired versus when the manga chapters were released, since both were going on at the same time. |

| Even though the anime aired along side the manga and even added in an arc to let the manga catch up, the way they decided to do the formula and tell the story on more of an episodic basis (making it more sentai like), it should just be viewed as its own thing and its own canon. Viewing it that way and reading the reasons Houyou no Senshi gave on why the episodes aren't filler and whats important about them will make more sense imo.
When it comes down to it the Sailor Moon anime is a slice of life show with occasional plot at the beginning, mid season or end of an arc, and final episodes. Thats why sometimes it seems they went "oh crap we got to finish this story up" with the finale episodes (i'm looking at you SuperS and Stars). |

| Whilst it is nice to see the characters grow, majority of the previous anime were fillers. It took quite sometime to reach the actual plot, and plus there's just too many repetitive stories+ monsters of the day. Don't get me wrong it was nice to see more, but at the same time it kinda gets tiring at some point. Though I do like the episodes with the Senshi's birthdays.
But yeah, Sailor Moon is a lot like Lolirock, a plot at the beginning and the end, but the middle can be watched in random and it won't affect the beginning and end (except for Senshi introductions). |
