The Galaxy Cauldron is proud to announce its eleventh writing contest and the first of the new year 2013. The theme for this writing contest is "First Love." You are free to interpret the theme as you like. The rules are as follows:

Rules
1. Entries must be 1000 words or less.
2. Entries must be rated PG13 or lower.
3. Entries must be related to the theme.
4. Your entry must be a new entry created specifically for this challenge.
5. You may only submit one entry.
6. You may not show your entry to anyone else or post it elsewhere on the Galaxy Cauldron until after the contest is over and the winner is announced.
7. Sailor Moon themed entries are encouraged, but not required.

Note: Voting will last for eight days. All questions may be directed to Sailor Venus.

The next theme was supposed to be "loss of a loved one" but I skipped it because I figured you guys had enough sadness and angst with the last challenge. ^.^

I thought of this for a fleeting second, more as a funny story. Especially taking the little memes from tumblr; "senpai didn't notice me" "I'm not kawaii" "why is my cake so little" etc. etc. XD

Entry #1
"I thought I was your only love?" Mamoru laughed, teasing the young blonde on his arm.

Usagi stopped for a moment, then shook her head. "Well, yeah, but you weren't my first love."

"Do you are least love me more than ice-cream?"

Usagi munched on the remains of her ice-cream cone and swallowed. With a smile she kissed Mamoru on the lips. Afterwards, he could still taste the vanilla.

"Always," she promised.

Entry #2
Golden tresses, carmine ribbon. Sparkling cerulean eyes curtaining the dark depths of her inner soul. Lean, delicate frame, crafted as such that could easily house Aphrodite herself. Sugary personality, masking something more. She intrigued me. She mystified me. She made me look at her in a way I had never looked at a human being before. Especially in this way. I had never felt such excitement, such curiosity. Such awe. Every time my eyes would lay upon her, my breath would catch in my throat. My stomach would feel as if it was doing a somersault, making sure to kick me in the process. My thoughts would scatter and jumble themselves up, no longer making sense. Heat would rise in my body all the way to my face; I could feel my blood dust my face with the finest cherry paint it could concoct for the occasion. This golden beauty left me as a mess.

When she wasn’t around, she would invade my thoughts like an army occupying a country. She was like a chemical misfire, neurons rerouting to my heart instead of my brain. It was…frightening, to say the least. I mean, I had never felt this way towards anyone before. Thinking this and feeling that towards someone… Having them occupy your mind all the time… I really cannot catch a break. Not even at night when it’s time to curl up and sleep for the night. That’s when her consumption is actually in full swing. I find myself thinking about her smile. Her voice. Her laugh. Her hair. Her shape. How sugary sweet she seems to be.

But then I think about her eyes. I think about how, if I am able to lock eyes with her, I can see behind those cerulean kaleidoscopes. Everything isn’t all sugary sweet as she wants us to believe. I can see the dark silhouette of a monster, wrapping his arms around her, trying to consume her. Trying to bring her down on her knees, defeating her. Of course I see her fighting, but every time I do see in her eyes, she gives up, little by little. Trying to compromise with the shadow, somehow, someway.

And I find myself desiring to charge in there, shining sword or bow ablaze, and take down the beast, once and for all so she could live in peace. So that way, I could be the one to wrap my arms around her and shed some light on her heart and soul. So that I may hold her and make her feel less alone. Make her feel happy. Make her feel…whole. Kiss her so that she may know that she too is loved and allowed to love.

That’s when I realized, that I finally fell in love, for the very first time. I wanted to be near her, protect her, lift her up, be what she needed. Love her. What else could it possibly be? All the movies, television shows, manga, books, and music, all say that when you feel this, you are feeling love.

And it’s frightening. To feel such a pull, such a force, from another person. To think and feel these things for another. To want another. To be what they need. To want to be close to them…so close…and yet, I must fight the desire to just lunge after her. I must always be aware of my reality to make sure I don’t live out one of my fantasies.

Perhaps, pluck up the courage and just let her know; confess. See what comes of it. You never know unless you try. That’s what I was told by the one person that somehow found out. Of course, she was the only “expert” among us, since she was the only one that has been in a steady relationship since ancient times. It’s easier for her to say. Her love is written in the stars. But, how could I refuse? If I didn’t see if I could act soon, I was going to explode.

The night I decided, it was raining. A thunderstorm had rolled in. To my surprise, she came to me. She came to me and everything began to unfold. Everything began to fall. I had decided, however, no matter how frightening it may be, to just let the pieces fall where they may. I needed to arrange my own story for once.

I pulled her close to me. I should have known that would be a dangerous move because immediately, my mind went blank. My heart decided it would be a good time to switch on and dominate my actions and words. Then, my head began to spin. My heart began to ring in my ears it was pounding so hard. If this is what being in love felt like, I didn’t know what all the rage was about; I felt as if I was about to pass out.

But then I found out. All at once, everything came back together. I still felt dizzy and as if I was made of putty. I still felt my heart try to drum its way out of my body. But this time, it was a euphoric mess. Because I took the plunge and got the surprise of a lifetime.

Entry #3
It was a warm and sunny day. Two girls, one of them was blonde while the other was a ginger, were laughing at the park, while having a picnic.

"Aw! That was so sweet, Usagi-chan! I loved listening of when you and Mamoru-san first met! I still remember of when I met Masato-san."

The smile left the red-haired girl's face. Usagi looked at her with sad eyes. Even though she suspected her friend knew she was the champion of justice named Sailor Moon, she never confirmed it. So, she could never tell her friend that she was there when her beloved one passed away. Naru let out a whisper and continued, still feeling a bit weak.

"He was so sophisticated, you know? Tall, long hair, And they way he looked at me... I still feel sad about it, but it's nice to talk to someone about it and it's not like I can talk about this with Umino.".

"Naru-chan, I know you have this memory of him, but you know he was up to no good." Usagi was being extra-careful as to not reveal her identity and confirm her friend's suspicious by accident. "Remember, you told me that he acted weirdly sometimes."

"Yes, he did. Sometimes, I felt like he was using me for some reason. But near the end, when that blond man sent those weird people and took his life away, when he saved me. That's when I knew it was for real. And I'll treasure that. I'll treasure and I'll always remember him and that chocolate parfait we never had the chance to get together." Tears started flowing down her cheeks as she mentioned the sweet and the blonde girl hugged her in return.

"It's okay, Naru-chan. Let it out, you need to let go of him. You have Umino now and he's so caring and loving. I'm sure you'll be together forever." The ginger girl smiled at her friend. "And now, what DID you bring? I know we had a lot of catching up to do and that's why I haven't said anything before. But we talked and talked and talked, now where's the food?"

Naru giggled when listening to the question and got the food out of the basket for them to eat before each of the girls went to their respective dates. But deep down inside her mind, she never stopped thinking about Sanjouin Masato.

'I'll always love you, Masato. We'll see each other again, I'm sure of it.'
