Usagi was walking after school towards Game Center Crown, as she walked, an advertisement blew at her feet. The words caught her eyes --- Resurrection --- Dark Kingdom --- panicking Usagi broke into a sprint to inform the rest of her team.

“Usagi…” said a defeated sounding Rei, “Did you actually read it?”, Usagi shook her head and read the paper properly, “New Musical – A Sailor Moon Anecdote - The Dark Kingdom Resurrection Chapter, Casting Auditions for SAILOR MOON”. Motoki came over to the group “Ah, I heard about this, they’ve cast all the characters except for the lead, the auditions are being held at the Sunshine Theatre in Ikebukuro. I hear the girl playing Sailor Venus is especially cute”, “Oh, Motoki! Stop!” interjected Minako suddenly, hitting Motoki’s shoulder. Motoki blinked twice before asking Minako if she was playing the part of Sailor Venus, Minako suddenly realizing what she had implied chose to brush him off with vague “no” sounding words and turned her attention back to the racing game she was playing. At this point, a confused Motoki proceeded to deal with other costumers.

The girls started to discuss the musical, “Only I could possibly play that role so perfectly!” Usagi proclaimed as Ami and Makoto sympathetically nodded along. “Let’s definitely go and audition this weekend, it says Saturday! We can make a daytrip of it!”
“What I wonder…” started Ami, “is how can this show be so accurate, Queen Beryl and the Four Heavenly Kings are on the cast list, and the synopsis even mentions D Point and Princess Serenity…” A sudden crashing noise from the racing game and a Minako who was slinking down her seat led Makoto to finally ask “Minako what did you do this time…?” Minako laughed awkwardly and said “Well, I might have… with help from Natsuna… you see… to have… you see… like… sold the story to an animation company… that’s why the Sailor Soldiers have a toy-line and an anime series. Ehehehehe” “Mi-na-ko” said Rei starting to go her famous shade of red temper “Are you making money off our hard labour…?” Minako shook her head furiously “It’s nothing like that! We keep 5% of the money in a fund in case we need to travel somewhere… I had to travel to a lot of places as Sailor V and I had to pay for all of it, the rest of the money goes to charity.” Makoto, Ami, Rei and Usagi all relaxed, “Minako” said Usagi “Could you at least tell us when you do business deals about us”.

Meanwhile in the Black Moon UFO, Rubeus of the Crimson observed his map of the future city Crystal Tokyo before Berthier arrived, climbing through a mirror. “Berthier. This theatre is the last of the five Outer Crystal Points, if we fail this time we will have to spend time to locate the five Inner Points, we cannot afford to waste so much time. I expect you not to fail.” Berthier bit her lip anxiously but replied in a cheery voice, “Right! Last time those Sailor Soldiers caught me by surprise by I won’t slip up a second time. I have the perfect droid waiting.” “Hmmp… I expect results”. Once Rubeus left, Berthier summoned her droid, Bipierrot. “Bipierrot, I personally would rather not take over a theatre, actors are wonderful people to be praised. Completely being able to hide one’s self and pretend to be someone else so casually, isn’t that impressive? Hiding behind make-up, clothing and a different voice, how wonderful would it be to be an actress?” “I understand Miss Berthier” replied her droid, “Oh, is that so?” said Berthier in a skeptical tone. “Well let’s go to work shall we?”

That night in the Tsukino Residence, Usagi was chatting to Minako on the phone, Minako of course too engrossed in an idol magazine was not paying very much attention to Usagi’s long-winded-how-wonderful-Usagi-would-be-as-an-actress-model-kindergartener-teacher story, Usagi finally brought up the topic of traveling to Toshima the following day, Minako agreed but said that they should probably go early or they’ll never get there in time, agreeing the two said good-night.

In the morning the girls met at the train station to get to Toshima, Minako was nowhere to be seen, missing the first train they waited an hour before finally leaving without her. Usagi wondered what was going on; Minako had said she was sure to come. Usagi had also left the house not informing Chibiusa or Luna, Usagi grinned evilly to herself, finally having a fun day with her friends without anyone hanging on. Making their way into Ikebukuro the girls helped tried to help prepare Usagi for her audition but Usagi brushed them off telling them that she was sure to get it. Entering the lobby, they saw a huge massive queue of girls, some dressed as Sailor Moon, some not, “Usagi, do you think you should have dressed up too?” asked Makoto. Usagi grinned wider as she held out her Crystal Star, she ran off into one of the bathrooms and transformed with a quick “Moon Crystal Power, Make Up!” and joined the audition queue with her friends. Ami, Rei and Makoto were speechless at how brazen Usagi was being about it all. Eventually after an hour’s wait the girls walked into Usagi’s audition, there a panel of three men and a woman sat and another woman sitting at a piano. Usagi, despite all her cheerfulness and lack of modesty over this event began to get nervous.

“We’ll start” said the main in the middle, “with Sailor Moon’s catchphrase line… in the name of the Moon, I’ll punish you”. “In the name of the Moon, I’ll punish you” repeated Usagi with her trademark hand gestures and a wink. “No, no, no” said the director “the hand gestures are incorrect” and he demonstrated them for Usagi, Usagi wanted to point out that she would know better than him but thought better of it. “It’s okay Usagi” said Ami kindly, “just try again! Sailor Moon’s always making mistakes but she always pulls through, that’s why everyone loves her”. Usagi wondered whether she was being insulted or not.

“Next” said the woman on the far left, “please perform the theme song, “La Soldier” along with piano accompaniment, “But, I didn’t know I had to sing!” said Usagi, “well it is a musical” said the tired man on the right. The piano began to play, “Don’t worry” said Rei, “I know this song, it goes --- This is beyond impossible, do not wait, we’re almost there, don’t let it end, I want you in your entirety” Usagi copied Rei along with the piano. After performing a few more pieces of dialogue and dancing, the panel discussed Usagi’s fate in show business. “Well,” said the director “It was very interesting, but we have to decline, you are certainly not right for the part of Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon is a heroic character of grace, kindness, justice and power, you do not fit the same image and for the record, your costume does not match that of Sailor Moon’s. Your singing is all right, but not the voice we are looking for. You just do not sound like Sailor Moon. We are sorry to say you are just simply completely wrong for the part… however”. Usagi, dejected was slowly prodded out by Makoto. The director continued to talk “However…” he said again, “as common with the entertainment industry, we would like you two friends to audition properly.” He indicated Rei and Ami. “Miss, your singing talent is exactly what we are looking for and you miss, your kindness towards your terrible friend is something Sailor Moon truly would do.
