Hello everyone - Reiko here.

I've done some Sailor Moon "art" in the past year (when I should've been studying for French or Western Civ no doubt) and finally decided to post. I was reluctant at first because the drawings aren't my best work so it's not really showcasing my talent. Regardless, I thought some of you might be interested in them.









I also have a DeviantART (ID: AtTwelve34) where I post my portraits and occasional photography. Comments and critiques welcome.

Thank you. That one (Mercury) was actually drawn for a friend so I put more time into it. The rest of the senshi series was just a way to blow off steam--hence the proportional and detail inaccuracies. It was fun giving them each a different face but my creativity dried up after that lol.

Oh mygod, the detail that you put in faces... Gorgeous. That is talent right there, to be able to communicate so well via facial features!

And LadyGalaxia, I actually have a second photo of the landscape from "Aftermath" titled "Jaded" with less vibrant colors. The composition is changed up a little. Whereas "Aftermath" has the road centered in the screen, "Jaded" has it to the side to convey disillusionment.



Here's the crazy thing though: until very recently all my photos were taken with my tiny point-and-shoot Olympus--including "Aftermath" but not "Calling" which was taken with my Canon T2i.

^^ Such a good artist! I have attempted anime drawings before and mine suck haha. I"m not much of an artist. But you are!! (:

Reiko, I wish I was better or more knowledgeable about photography, I do some amature shots that I love, but not many, I am now inspired to post them now >_<

Oh, trust me, I SUCK at drawing anime. Too many facial features to sneak into one tiny face... I can never pull it off. My natural animation style is much more western. Here's a doodle I did of a super-hero version of myself:



I don't know how my style came to be this way because I watched a crap-ton of anime as a kid.

Well, thing is I don't think classical training is necessary in the arts. It's a great thing to have and I actually prefer knowing theory but it's also important to feel what you're doing. Just like ear-playing is essential to the most beautiful music, vision is essential to photography.

With me I have a very cinematic vision. My mind's eye always conjures these impossibly beautiful pictures and when I recognize these settings in real life, I snap a photo. I tweak the photos a little bit here and there to make them better represent what I saw with my own eyes but I don't mess with my camera settings that often. I've learned about ISO, aperture, and shutter speed settings very recently and I'm grateful for that but it hasn't improved my photography drastically. To each their own though. There are tons of photography blogs online. I recommend you check around if you want to learn more.

It's been a while since I've done any Moon-related artwork. Just like last year, I resorted to drawing to unwind in the middle of exams. Here's the product of all my stress from the past couple of days:

Thanks for the kind words--means a lot coming from a professional artist.

I've been doing a lot of photography work lately. I'm really trying to build up my portfolio since I'm studying film with a focus in videography. While photos are obviously just one still, it still good to be able to show future employers that I am knowledgeable about composition and have a vision/style.

Wait a moment! I don't know why I didn't see this before but I know EXACTLY where that is! lol! Very sweet! That means I'm definitely not the only North Carolinian in the forum ^^

Yep, I have it on my profile that I live in Chapel Hill. I'm a sophomore at UNC ^_^

Sweetness!! That just shows how oblivious I am at times - I didn't even notice until now. ^^; I head there at least once a month because that's where I take my kids to see their doctor.

Good news to anyone who might even slightly care!

I've swung these two photography gigs at my university--working for a theater company and a music distribution company. I'm doing photo and video documentation. It's been an absolute riot - I love it!! I've gotten so many awesome photos in the past few days.
