Subject: Geekiest music you listen to 25th November 2012, 9:32 am
I like most music, but I find that the music I always return to and listen to on a daily basis would be considered painfully geeky by the greater population.
At the moment I'm listening to a radio station that streams music from the Walt Disney World Resort (as opposed to Disney film soundtracks). I'm really obsessed with the "Wishes!' fireworks soundtrack, and almost peed my pants when I found the CD at WDW this year for my birthday. That's a big thing for me right now, but I love most of the music from WDW.
I absolutely love the work of John Williams, the Star Wars soundtracks being my favorite of his works. There are just so many great themes in those soundtracks! I go through phases where I can listen to the same song multiple times in a row.
The Kingdom Hearts soundtracks are another one of my faves, and is definitely my favorite video game music. My husband listens to a lot of video game music, and there are a few songs that I like from his library of soundtracks, but for the most part I don't actively listen to video game music aside from when we take long road trips.
How about the rest of you?

I listen to video game music all the time, the geekiest of them being old (sound blaster 16 + adlib) synths of MIDI files. Warcraft 2, Dune 2, Ultima Underworld 2, X-com 1 and X-com 2: Terror from the deep being the geeky classics of my childhood.

I don't know how you guys feel, but Deus Ex main theme makes me feel like putting on some high tech combat armor, grabbing a gun and kicking the sailors' shiny backsides out of the milky way galaxy. FOR NEMESIS AND THE BLACK MOON CLAN!
Trivia: "baka" was the lowest rank in the Hungarian millitary in the first and second world war. They dug the trenches, did the grunt work, etc...

I listen to almost everything but in my everyday life while at home people think I'm funny basically because I match my music with what we have for dinner. When we have sushi I put on Japanese instrumental, when we have italian food i put on instrumental italian classics or Pavarotti, etc... I listen to a lot of instumental music and for every activity I find a match. ^-^ I love to listen to my spirit flutes cd when I am relaxing in front of my fireplace LOL

Man, for some reason I can't stand that song MiMako. xD
Right now I listen to a lot of Sailor Moon music, mostly from the anime and musicals. I also enjoy MLP songs and I have tons of remixes of them downloaded. Next to that, my favorite band is basically a rock opera about Megaman and its freakin amazing. Its like a weird hard rock, rock opera, video game, synthesized music...basically: awesome. If you've never heard of the Protomen, and enjoy music influences from Radiohead, Styx, and Queen and inspired by films like Eddie and the Cruisers and Streets of Fire, books like 1984 and Atlas Shrugged, then you will enjoy them.
I also rather enjoy listening to the Chiptunes station on di.fm and I love 8-bit versions of songs and from video games. 8D

I just love video game music, doesn't matter where it's from I just love listening to the soundtracks! Like, I didn't enjoy FF13 but I love Sazh's theme, for example. I've been stuck in my Soundtrack playlist for maybe a month and I'm still not bored with it
But I don't think it's a geeky thing....

Anime soundtracks. Lots and lots and lots of anime soundtracks. I have a ton of them on my iPod.
Cowboy Bebop, Bleach (mostly the 1st and 3rd), Pullea Magi Madoka Magica, Noir, Code Geass R2, the TV version of X , Death Note, Tsubasa Chronicle, Shigofumi, Hellsing TV, C: Money of the Soul Possibly Control, Black Lagoon, Umi Monogatari, Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night...I find myself listening to these on a fairly regular basis.*
...and fanmade My Little Pony music, I have a few hundred of those on my iPod as well.

Most of the music I listen to is, in one way or another, geeky. I listen mostly to Vocaloid, They Might Be Giants, and RPG maker game soundtracks and remixes... so, yeah.
