Yeah this is way out in left field, but I could imagine, that if Naoko is like any other good creative person, that she might have pages and pages and pages of notes about Sailor Moon, perhaps similar to what authors like J.R.R. Tolkien or Frank Hebert of the Dune series.

Now I realize their stories are way more indepth in comparison to Sailor Moon, but I'm sure Naoko Takeuchi isn't much different with having notes. And I think she has notes for every version.

I wonder if its something she would ever release one day?

As someone who does a lot of writing, I find it hard to believe that she *wouldn't* have some kind of notebook or at least a collection of different tibits and ramblings that she's kept in a pretty Sailor Moon Binder or something. :3

It'd be really neat to see some of the small minor notes that she might have kept that didn't make it into the final product! Cute things like "Makoto braids her hair at night to give it that gorgeous wavy-ness" Or "Haruka once had long blonde hair but every time she attempts to cut it herself, she gets impatient and messes it up so badly that Michiru has to cut it short"

Yeah, but I wonder just how extensive it is? From what I remember reading in her notes and stuff, it seems like she wasn't really trying to go for a super indepth deep story of sorts.

I kinda wish the rerelease manga had the side bumper notes. I remember the old manga did. I should go through my old manga and read through it again.

I used to love her manga cliffnotes in the Tokyopop version and I miss not seeing it in kodnashas. She used to have random sketches in the side panels too, so I think she had rough character drawings or outlines in her notebooks but as far as releasing them I doubt it because they could be private and things she doesn't want everyone to see but who knows.

Pretty much every artist I know who has their own characters- even not in comics- tends to have note books with character information in them, or documents on their computers with pages and pages of character notes and little things about them and their lives.

I know of a lot of comic artists and writers who have information about their characters that they never reveal, ether in canon/story/comics or in other works/mediums...

I really want a book available called: Little Known Facts of the Sailor Moon Universe that is filled with all of these random things.

But I can see that maybe Naoko didn't really aim for having such in depth analysis of the series and the characters (she was rushed for time), but I also think she must have at least *some* notes that had accumulated over the course of drawing the series.

Wouldn't it just be something if in the near future she released Sailor Moon notes? XD Like when I made the thread about having a Sailor Moon remake and what you'd want to see in it and BAM! They smacked us with a new anime in 2013.

Part of me feels like though, if she has notes and wanted the world to see, she would've released them with her art. Because I dunno, I feel like they'd go hand in hand.

I'll have to double check this but I'm pretty sure in one of the artbooks (maybe volume 3,4,or 5?) she talked about writing down ideas for the next series in her Sailor Moon notebook which was like one of those official Sailor Moon themed notebooks. So yes at one point she did have a book of notes.

But there is always the possibility that they are lost now. She has said that she moved alot while she was writing and it is easy to lose those types of things when moving not to mention the fact that twenty years have passed. Do you still have notes from classes you took twenty years ago? I think Naoko probably still has them, if they weren't lost, because she has always struck me as sentimental.

I would love for them to be published, however, as it has been stated before, she is a very personal, private, shy person who probably doesn't want her notes out there for the world to read.

I also miss, the cute notes from Naoko in the sidebars of the Tokyopop manga. I also loved the full pages of notes in the back of the books where she talked about what was going on in her world of Sailor Moon and did bonus illustrations, nothing colored or anything but they were so special. It really made me feel very connected to the books and that Naoko truly loves Sailor Moon and her fans to take the time to write such sweet notes. I felt like to Naoko this wasn't just another story she was writing because it was her job, as many authors of all genres do, but because she really loved to write about Usagi and the girl's adventures.

One of the main reasons I was excited for the new Kodansha volumes, was that in their original press release they stated that the new editions would contain new notes from the author. But did we even get the Punch series? No! I was so angry because the books felt so impersonal without Naoko's touch in them.

She would have to have notes! Back in the day when I was really into writing fanfics I would like have 5 notebooks filled chapter summaries and plot ideas.

And I remember Naoko had many info about the senshi which were only published in some collectible cards, notebooks etc. like their favorite foods and that kind of stuff.

I want to buy the first edition in Japanese to get the awesome notes ;____;!

I think I need to get a notebook so I can write some stuff down about my characters for a story that's been lodged into my head for some time now. XD yay this thread.

I'm still waiting on JK Rowling to release her Harry Potter Encyclopedia she promised we would get like five years ago.

In the original Mixx/TokyoPop release of hte manga, they translated the little side notes and side bars Naoko had, and i think one of the mangas had an interview with her as well.

I think Naoko has a notebook of ideas and thoughts! It's logical for any author/writer to have a place to brainstorm and come up with new information. Though I don't know if she'll ever reveal it to the fans if she indeed has it. If she hasn't done it yet, why would she do it now?

Yeah, I don't expet her to release it.

Its just the answers in some interviews I've read about her coming up with SM, it doesn't seem like a whole lot of it was planned out. At least not in depth...but I always wondered if she went back and hammered out random details about the SM Universe that she is keeping sevret. ^_^

I thought the Infinity artbook was supposed to be the release of all her notes? Or was it just the release of all her design notes and little "remember to draw this" reminders?

The materials collection is has her character design sheets and such. However, I would imagine that is not all of her notes and materials on Sailor Moon.

I mean, I agree with Small Lady, there IS the Materials Collection, but there's got to be an additional book of notes somewhere, especially since the MC only really had designs, not very interesting details on the characters O:
