Looking at Prince Endymion, I think he is from the Renaissance era which is when plate armor and steel crafting. This is somewhat true for the Shiten'nō (worn by Kunzite in the Materials Collection) when they where themselves and the guardians of Prince Endymion.

Does anybody else feel this way? Does anybody have another idea?

I'm not sure, but I do personally believe that the Moon Kingdom is actually pre BC, I can't think of a reference in manga or anime at the moment... The musicals identify the Moon Kingdom stretching back at least to 3000 BC. But we are not given a complete reference to whether the "Princess Moon" in the musical is Princess Serenity or an older ancestor. I think because of the destruction of Earth and Moon, likely they were advanced civilizations that went through a backwards shift in technology.

Maybe, however the Golden Kingdom and/or Elysion could be Atlantis of some sort.

I'm ignoring most of the other planetary things, seeing as the Moon and other planets — particularly Mercury — could have more advanced technology while the Earth would have technology that is similar to that of the Renaissance or earlier.

In my minds eye, I thought it to be destroyed shortly before Mesopotamia started to grow (so around 3200-3100BCE). Kinda like an "atlantis" in that it was a super advanced civilization, and that by the time other civilizations came about around 3000BCE, all that was left was myths and legends about it. Hard to say how it all started though.

I've always thought about the Moon Kingdom being a sort of "parent civilization" to the Earth. Because of this the Moon Kingdom would have been regarded as "deities" which would have been a good reason fro the divide between the two. Whitehexe have you seen the Legend of Kaguya Island? Its a Sailor Moon musical, in which Princess Moon had destroyed an empire on Earth called Artiqa in 3000BCE by a Great Flood. Might interest you X3

Considering clothes? Hmm Endymion's clothes I would say fit the clothes from the middle age. When I think of Knight like clothing I think of the middles ages. As for the renaissance I think of bright clothing.

As an archaeologist, I feel required to chip in my two cents at some point, but I haven't looked back at the manga yet. Steel, however, is a 3000-4000 year old technology.

Like Venus said steel was around during that time. That's how they made their weapons and armor. Endymion has the classic prince knight look to him. The middle ages were known for Knights while the Renaissance was known for the arts and science.
