| Like we have two topics about Harry Potter, but not one for talking about the book series itself? So now we do! So yeah talk about the book series itself! I guess beware of spoilers and what not. So right now I am rereading the series. I have never reread the series as whole. Back then I would just reread a random book while waiting for the new one to come out. I'm on the 7th book now and I love the series even more than I did as a kid. When I'm done with book 7 I will rank the books from my favorite to least favorites. I like Snape a lot now and I see the brilliance in his character. It makes me more sad knowing certain characters will end up dying in the end. Jeez J.K Rolling don't let Harry be happy! |

| I somehow managed to miss this thread, weird. I love the book series, but so far I only own the Half-Blood Prince. (My sister has the first book with the fancy new cover design.)
What's everyone's favorite Harry Potter book? I think I liked the Chamber of Secrets the best. |

| I liked the fact that once you read the book once, you could follow the clues buried in it and see who opened the Chamber of Secrets yourself early. Very clever. |

Yes! I noticed that when I was rereading the series despite the fact I reread Chamber over 10 times as a kid. |

| I should probably reread this series again. I usually do it once a year. Always fun to revisit these characters, who honestly I think a lot of people have grown with them. (not the actors, the characters). Seeing new sides to them each time you read =)
#3 is still my favorite! Prisoner of Azkaban |

| This is quote an old thread but I couldn't resist! I love Harry Potter and I'm Gryffindor. I own all books, including The Tales Of Beedle The Bard and others. My favorite book is probably the sorcerer's stone, even if it's the first one. And also, I recently rewatched the first four movies and I'm planning on watching the others this month. |

I need to reread the series. I want to fall in love with it all over again because it was amazing and the world building is excellent. Serious kudos to JKR for keeping track of so many characters and solidly built an entire world that captivated so many hearts.
My favorite is Goblet of Fire! |

| I read the series through for the first time earlier this year. It's pretty fantastic. Makes me wish I had grown up reading it!
Chamber of Secrets really stood out for me, it's really well constructed. It's my favorite book. I can't even begin to choose a favorite character... let me just combine them all into one to avoid choosing.
Has anyone checked out Stephen Fry's audio books? I read most of the books but sometimes I'd switch over to his reading in order to multitask. He does an awesome job. |

| I like Harry Potter, but I am not a big fan of it, I am just a regular Harry Potter fan. I just like Harry Potter because the series is very well written with many complicated things which can be unexpected.
My personal favorite character are Hermione, Luna, Snape, Sirius, and Dumbledore. Hermione is smart and she is very loyal to Harry, Luna is weird but she is really charming and cute, Snape is amazing at the seventh book, Sirius cares a lot for Harry, Dumbledore is really wise yet interesting on the same time.
Harry is an alright protagonist, his character is still decently written. But his character irritated me a bit at the fifth book and the sixth book. I like the "Chamber of Secrets" Harry the best, I don't really like "Order of Phoenix" and "Half Blood Prince" Harry. Harry grated my nerves a bit at "Order of Phoenix" and "Half Blood Prince." "Prisoner of Azkaban," "Goblet of Fire," and "Deathly Hallow" Harry is alright.
My favorite Harry Potter pairings:
Ron x Hermione, the love-hate relationship between them is enjoyable to follow. There interaction can be rather funny.
Harry x Ginny, no matter what people say, I still like this paring, I like their relationship better in the book rather than the movie. And besides, Ginny is the girl who can slow Harry down at the sixth book, aside from Luna.
James x Lily, quite interesting pairing, but I don't understand why some people don't like it.
Neville x Luna, blame fanfictions, a guilty pleasure of mine. |

| Hmm..., I'm somewhat surprised at how popular Chamber of Secrets is. The later books I am a fan of; still, I don't know why that one I didn't like as much, maybe it has just been some time since I reread it. The Pensieve is a really cool magical item, btw (since we're all sharing thoughts in this thread or something ) (or whatever that memory reading bowl was, I don't know) |

| I use to be a huge fan of it. After the release of the last book, my enjoyment petered out, especially when the fandom population began to explode. Also, it's tricky for me to get into them again, because of the beginning of almost every book, so au fics are easier for me to read when they work around it. I still like the world that JKR had made. It is pretty creative.
Probably my favorite book in the series was Goblet of Fire. I remember that one pretty fondly. |

| Huh, somehow I didn't see that this thread was here. I love Harry Potter, and I have read all the books several times, starting with my mom reading to me when I was little. My favorites are Prisoner of Azkaban and Half-Blood Prince (I love backstory). I don't care for Order of the Phoenix as much, nor Sorcerer's Stone.
I agree with magic. I like the books and I've read them a lot, but once I really get the universe, I have more fun treating it like a sandbox and reading different stories that use the same basis. Fanfiction is amazing for that! |

I feel the same, actually, too; with Sailor Moon it's kind of similar, as there is a lot of content to make fanfiction and such out of, and as both are especially not so complicated so to make them difficult to integrate with, or so simple so as to be uninteresting for fanfics. |
