Plot Summary:

Quote :: Love and Spite is a 21st century alternate universe of the Silver Millennium that takes place in The Verona Institute, an American high school (but attendees can retain Japanese character names without any social strangeness). However, there is no plan of the main cast ending their lives at the end of the storyline. Additionally, there will be no transformations or powers, but affinities or skills that tie over are welcome (for example, Rei's spirituality, Makoto's strength and baking skills, Ami's intelligence, etc.).

It is a new school year and a new school building for students from Rosethorn School and Silver Academy, as both original schools have closed down and their student populations, once bitter rivals in sports, academics, and all manner of extracurricular activities, must now coexist under one state-of-the-art roof. But who will rule this new school? Will it be the beautiful affluent young ladies of Silver Academy, whose charm, honesty, talent, and good nature have won over their population since kindergarten? Or will it be the strapping young men of Rosethorn High, who had worked their way up through the public education system and found themselves on top in their second year of high school and held strong since? It the senior year for all of our main cast, so the stakes are high - who will rule this school?

Their first battle is bound to happen in the Student Council chambers, as with the merging of two schools comes the merging of two school representative groups. Who will emerge as leader the new student body of The Verona Institute? Will it be Senior class Serenity Tsukino, the Student Body President of Silver Academy, as cute as she is passionate and determined? Or Senior-class Endymion Chiba, Student Body President of Rosethorn, hardworking and dedicated? With the personal pride of each school resting on their shoulders, these leaders will need to choose between butting heads with each other and collaboration on future events, and with their respective group of friends and student body pushing them for dominance over the other, the road for student-council run events looks rocky indeed.

Will they be able to get it together in time to throw an amazing Homecoming Dance?

Can they make decisions about what to feature for a Halloween festival?

And in their spring semester, with graduation on the horizon, who will be Prom King and Queen?

One thing is for certain: with clashing personalities on either side, passions running high, and some wildcards in the mix (like Beryl, the Mean Girl previously of Rosethorn), making final decisions about anything won't be a walk in the park... especially when hormones and personal attraction make loyalty to one's old school increasingly difficult.

Details on any necessary information:

The Senshi team are all from the Silver Academy, and to mirror their Princess status in the Silver Millennium, they all come from very affluent families who are intertwined in one way or another (business, family, etc.), but still retain some of the 20th century aspects of their lives. Serenity's mother owns a company, Lunar Technologies, which leads in state of the art computer AI. The Inner's parent(s) work there as well. The girls met through the work's day care center and become quite close.

Lunar Technologies footed the bill for The Verona Institute, as Silver Academy was getting older and they wanted the best, most state-of-the-art facilities for their daughters. For a tax break, they classified the school a "private", but allowed the entire student body of the public Rosethorn School to attend tuition-free, hearing that the Rosethorn School badly needed to close for repairs on the 20 year old building.

The Shitennou team are all from Rosethorn High, having banded together over the years. Endymion and Kunzite met and became best friends as early as 1st grade; they saved Zoisite from bullying in elementary school, welcoming him in as a friend, and in early middle school welcomed Jadeite onto their team when he was mis-perceived as a bully (he has an angry resting face). Later in middle school Nephrite joined their group of friends after a (longstanding) rivalry with Endymion on the (soccer) field. When they entered High School, Endymion went for the Student Council and became the youngest Student Council President his sophomore year.

Note: Originally in the OOC (and storyline) there were positions for Luna and Artemis as the younger (freshman aged) siblings of Serenity and Minako; however, to keep the story more focused on the Senior Class, I’d like to renege/write out those characters, as their players would not have a lot to work with and would end up treading water until they could reenter the scene, else potentially stretch believability by putting a freshman into senior-level courses. Instead, Luna and Artemis will be the faculty advisers to the Student Council; Luna is the school’s head librarian and Artemis is a technology teacher, and will be NPC's.

Please read the original RP thread before making claims; we will be starting from where the original team left off, but with the changes in place (no Luna and Artemis characters, Advanced requirements, etc.)

Note! All characters will have a “homeroom” class period surrounding lunch. This hour is like a “study period” and is spent working on study skills, doing homework, practice tests for college entrance exams or, twice a week, attending club meetings. I will be out of the country next week and into the week following. I'd like to revive the thread starting within the first week of August, and so request all interested parties to stake a claim in this thread and be finished - or nearly so - with their profiles by August 1st!

I've got ideas for "chapters" of the storyline marked out below as "goals" XD Every time we meet a goal I consider it a win and would be totally open to just wrapping the storyline up in a bow and sending it to the Hall of Fame if people get to feeling lukewarm about it xD

The first goal of the storyline will be to get to/through Student Council elections, the race for which will be announced / start during homeroom on the first day of school and elections will be held the end of the third week of school (just before progress reports are sent out).
The second goal will be for our new student council members to agree to Homecoming festivities - what they should be, how they should be, etc. - and end with the homecoming dance.
The third goal would be for planning a Halloween / Harvest festival.
The fourth would be a Winter Ball.
The fifth would be Mina's very own personal holiday celebration - Valetine's day. Complete with dance and card exchanges and the whole deal.
The sixth would be .... Idk what it would be for early spr---SPRING BREAK PLANNING. Some schools do senior spring break trips and wow that'd be ridiculous to agree on, let's do that XDD
The seventh - and ultimately the final goal - would be Prom. ~~With the final showdown between Serenity and Beryl for PROM QUEEEEN~~
The epilogue, if we get there, would be getting to graduation, and saying goodbye to the Verona Institute. :')

Iirc, originally it was either hard-line senshi/shitennou "original" pairings or opt out of pairing them altogether, but since nothing's really happened I'm open to discussing with players whether to open the pairings up or not!

I've updated my profile to add the SSI and put Bunny's class schedule in the official spoiler.

One of the notes I added has her having failed her driver's license test and thus being unable to drive at the moment. If whoever plays Minako wouldn't mind, it might be funny to have Minako give Serenity rides to school... possibly making them often tardy together. (In a nod to the 90s anime.)

Kunzite has a few IC posts in the original thread you could take a look at to see what what originally in mind for him - he was a little playful, but under a lot of pressure from his father. This was the SSI for him from when Lyssarie played him:

But a certain blonde beauty by the name of Minako catches Klaus's attention, and suddenly the Student Council rivalry is not at the top of his attentions.

As far as choosing classes, he may have chosen to take the same ones Endymion is taking, but with how schools handle schedule making there'd be no guarantee they'd end up in the same class xD They'd have better luck if they chose the same electives, but with Kunzite's father the way he is, he may have pressured Kunzite into taking the more business-minded courses. ;D I think they could share at least one class together, but regardless they'd always do lunch together Very Happy

There's no uniform in place yet, but that could change once the student council gets in control. >D

The Silver Academy had uniforms with freedoms: everyone had to wear a white blouse with the school's emblem, but they could choose their own color for their skirt, tie, socks, and the uniform sweaters. Hair styles were on them, but permanent dye jobs and multiple piercings were frowned upon - this was a creme de la creme school, after all, and "alternative" permanent fashion choices would be bad for their image. Many of the girls that went to Silver Academy actually liked their uniform because, while they could accessorize to stand out, it still enforced the idea that they're all in it together and were part of a "team" of sorts - and the best, most well trained and frankly most fabulous team in the entire city of Verona and beyond, as they won state championships on the regular. It was a fun status symbol

Even in the first days of the Verona Institute, some choose to come to school wearing their Silver Academy uniform to stand out and spot their fellows among the overwhelming influx of riff-raff.

Whether our girls choose to wear their old uniforms in solidarity with their old high school or choose to dress-down / dress-out into "casual" clothing to bridge the gap with the newbies / enjoy the new freedom is totally up to them, but I'd love it if it was discussed here before we start as it would most definitely have come up before school started to talk about what they were planning to wear and whether they all wanted to break out or all wanted to come in uniform in solidarity, etc.

The Rosethorn High school never had a uniform, just the standard don't-come-to-school-naked dress code, and think that the Silver High students were robots for having to wear one. They had school t-shirts that they wore to show school spirit, but only had to wear those on Fridays for pep-rallies. Some of the staunch supporters of their old school may choose to wear a school spirit shirt throughout the first week of school at their new school just to >C STICK IT TO THEM. XDD

I'm fully planning on Mamoru wearing a red Rosethorn High shirt on the first day XD
