Sailor Neptune (Bubbles)!!!Keep on walking all over our hearts Oh? You want an example of her prowess? FEAST YOUR EYES ON THIS YEARNING FROM To Rise Again, and YOU BETTER OPEN THAT SPOILER: - Sailor Neptune wrote:
- Intro Post:
The sight of the once bright kingdom of Silver Millennium falling into ruins was the worst thing Neptune had ever witnessed in her life. Worse still, it was a sight she had to witness alone. The one thing that had kept her going all these years was the light of their princess, the knowledge that the queen and the royal family were safe and whole and happy. She knew what she was supposed to do should an attacker come into her territory. She knew what the protocol was if, by some miracle, they managed to make it past her and into Uranus’. She knew all the right things to do in the event of an attack, except for this one. Because this was one threat she had never foreseen. That even her mirror had failed in predicting.
And there was no protocol for this. For the unthinkable situation in which the Moon Kingdom could be under attack while she was still standing. And after standing there, just watching it burn for a few minutes, she could stand it no longer. Maybe she was disobeying her queen—something she never thought she would do—but she wanted to believe deep in her heart that Queen Serenity didn’t want her to just sit there and watch them burn. To do nothing. She was supposed to protect the kingdom. Maybe not from these threats, but they were a threat just the same, and they had proven too much for the princess’ guardians and the castle guards to handle. If there was no more kingdom to protect… if the princess and queen no longer existed, what was the point of her duty anymore?
Uranus would still be there, was the thought that she used to console herself. Maybe she’d leave her post undefended, but Uranus was loyal and steadfast—stronger than her. She would still be guarding her post in the event of an attack from the outer layer of the solar system. She would have no warning of it, yes, but surely she could handle it. Neptune had seen her in battle before, she was strong…
These were the thoughts she used to comfort herself as she abandoned Triton Castle and flew towards the moon. Even if she knew she was condemning her partner to death. Even if she knew it was the most irresponsible thing she had ever done. Uranus will be okay, was the mantra that she kept repeating to herself. Even if she’d be disappointed in her.
Neptune never imagined the first time she would step foot on the moon would be like this. She had dreamed of this moment she knew would never happen more times than she cared to admit. To be surrounded by all that light and beauty, to be so close to the princess and the queen that she so admired. To be one of them. She had always expected to feel joy and wonder and awe, but now all she saw was devastation and fire and death. Her heart ached painfully as she tried to decide where to go.
She found the bright light of the princess pulling her out of the city, and she turned to look towards the castle, where the queen presumably still was. But Neptune was too much of a coward to face her and see the disappointment in her eyes if it turned out she’d made the wrong choice. Yes, the princess had her guardians, while the queen was alone, but…
She didn’t think twice about it. She just followed the trail of light that had so long kept her tethered to sanity when the loneliness proved to be too much.
She had found the princess with all of her senshi intact—which was a surprise—but not as surprising as the presence of Pluto. This was alarming, because who was protecting the Gate of Time? Or had it fallen, too? And if it did, what did it mean for the timeline? Had she been called here, or had she done what Neptune did as well and disobeyed her orders? Having never spoken to her before and afraid she’d be called out on her own reasons for being there, she had not approached the guardian of time and instead lingered just slightly away from the group as she observed them.
The princess was what naturally drew her in first, and for a moment Neptune was struck by all the emotions she felt upon laying eyes on her for the first time up close. She looked so… sad. So broken. Not at all like the happy and carefree princess she had often seen in her mirror. She was with someone Neptune didn’t recognize, but as Uranus arrived shortly after, her attention was completely redirected.
The moment she saw that flash of unmistakable blonde hair and blue eyes, Neptune’s eyes widened and she instinctively stepped back. The urge to hide consumed her, irrational as it was given the fact that Uranus had done the very same thing she had. But that meant… That meant the outer sectors were completely defenseless now. Although, did it really matter? The kingdom had already fallen. Perhaps their place was here after all.
Neptune avoided Uranus’ eyes, though she couldn’t help but look at her every chance she got. Those eyes were even fiercer up close. Power—and obvious anger—was radiating off of her in waves. Guilt and shame mixed with awe and admiration in her gut. She had often watched over the senshi of the skies, the partner that she had never met in person and only ever spoken to in times of crisis, and even that only in short bursts of messages from her castle to Uranus’, the only guardian beside Pluto who understood her loneliness and seclusion better than anyone.
And her closely guarded secret of how sometimes, she would fall asleep to the sight of Uranus’ confident smile, her smirk when she successfully cut down an enemy in battle, and that one moment she impulsively recorded in her castle monitor when Uranus reported an attacker had been neutralized, and had added, “Good night, Neptune,” in a rare moment of casual camaraderie. Neptune had replayed that recording every night since to send her to sleep, and her dreams had been filled with open blue skies and the wind and an impossible picture of two intertwined hands, marching into battle together. And one particular morning, she had woken up expecting to find a second body in her bed, and had been disappointed to find none.
She had deleted the recording afterwards.
Yet today as she looked upon Uranus’ face with her own eyes for the first time, that moment was still as fresh in her mind as if it had been made only yesterday.
With difficulty, she redirected her attention back to the discussion of strategy that had been happening.
Venus wanted to go back to the castle and leave the princess unguarded. This had shocked her, because she thought guarding the princess was the very job of these soldiers. Had she chosen the right thing after all by coming here, if these senshi were leaving? She didn’t understand; did they not understand what the meaning of duty was? They’d almost lost their princess. And now they wanted to risk it again?
Thankfully some of them seemed to disagree, and from the discussion Neptune learned that they had one person from Earth with them. The one with the princess. Neptune narrowed her eyes suspiciously at him. What was his motives of being here when his people had apparently attacked the moon? And so close to the princess, too… Thinking about it made her very uncomfortable.
But if they needed power… she had that. She and Uranus did. Neptune kept quiet as they weighed the options of who they should send, even if her heart yearned to remain with Uranus and the princess. In the end, she was chosen to go with Jupiter and Mercury, and she swallowed her disappointment.
Sailor Mars’ words to her were encouraging, but right now Neptune still felt guilt and shame for abandoning her post. Was it truly brave what she’d done? No. She was a coward. She didn’t know what Uranus’ reason for leaving was, but surely it was better than hers.
- Side conversation wrote:
- And then she caught Uranus’ eyes as the other senshi tilted her head to call her over. Neptune’s heart pretty much plunged straight to her stomach. She wants to talk. To me.
Now her heart was beating so loud she could barely hear herself think. It was so… irrational to feel like this about someone she’d never even met. And yet… With shaking legs, she somehow managed to make her way over, reminding herself to look way more composed and confident than she had any right to feel.
Uranus spoke about the princess, about their duty. Of course. Neptune had only ever expected as much from her. She listened carefully, about how the princess needed her guardians to come back. And then…
You are more important.
This time her heart felt as if it had been squeezed by an invisible hand, and an exhilarating feeling filled her. I am? Was it possible that Uranus also…
Uranus’ closing remark brought her back to the ground, hard. Of course. The lives of the princess’ guardians took priority. Because the princess took priority. They were never meant to… It was foolish. What she really wanted in her heart could never be. It was selfish. And she was stupid to even entertain the idea in the first place.
“Noted. I will protect them with my life,” she replied softly, meaning her words with all her heart. It was the least she could do after all the treachery she’d done. She began to turn away, eager to leave Uranus behind so she could think clearly again, but could not help herself. She turned, wondering if this would be the first and last time she’d see Uranus in person. “Be careful. And…” her words trailed off, but before she could change her mind or lose her courage, she quickly added, “It was good meeting you… Sailor Uranus.”
She didn’t wait for an answer, and walked away. ----------------
Walking with two senshi who were pretty much strangers to her, Neptune felt out of place. She was in unfamiliar territory now. Surely they knew the moon’s terrain better than she did, but she would lend her strength if they needed it.
As a question was directly addressed to her, Neptune shook her head. “Nothing yet. You two know this place better than I do, so I will follow you.” She kept her guard up and reminded herself to focus, to leave her feelings behind, as she shouldered this new unwanted mission. NOT DOING IT FOR YOU? HOW ABOUT SOME CRUSHING GUILT from Gravity: - Sailor Neptune wrote:
She watched the gradual change of expression with a sinking feeling. First the surprise, then the disbelief, and finally the betrayal. He let go of her hand, and she immediately missed his warmth, suddenly feeling as if she had been left in the cold. She could see what he was thinking in his eyes, and her heart felt as if it were the one being shattered when she watched him realize that she had lied and manipulated him, tried to take advantage of his kindness.
Tears began clouding her eyes as she watched him shift from cordiality to formality, upon realizing the truth about her identity. Every single word seemed to stab her with the coldness of ice, and his new mask of apathy made her want to crumble to the ground and beg for forgiveness.
Her feet remained planted on the earth, however, and her knees didn’t buckle, for princesses did not beg for anyone—a lesson that had been drilled into her since birth. But still, the idea that he hated her now, or worse, felt nothing toward her at all, threatened to drown her in misery.
“Endymion, I do not want anything from you. Please don’t get me wrong. I came back only because I missed you—they don’t even know I’m here! I’m not supposed to—” a sob interrupted her sentence, and she swallowed the lump on her throat. “I’ve been separated from you for so long, and all I’ve ever wanted was to return to you and tell you the truth. I am so sorry it took me this long. Please forgive me. I don’t think I can bear your anger or your loathing.”
She clutched her aching heart and looked at the ground, too afraid to see into his eyes for what she might find there.
Not quite? HOW ABOUT SOME JEALOUSY WITH A SIDE OF PISSED OFF from The Warrior Princess and the Miraculous Enyalian: - Sailor Neptune wrote:
The sea? She’s like the sea? The sea is mine, Kira fumed in her head as she heard about this comparison. Why would Nikos describe his crush as similar to the sea, of all things? There were so many other things you could compare beauty to. The sun’s radiance. The gentle and colorful flowers. The stars, even! Who even used the sea after a storm to describe a girl’s beauty?
She let out a weak laugh. “Wow, she certainly sounds… extraordinary.”
As Nikos kept describing her, Kira was beginning to regret this line of questioning. She didn’t need to hear him describe the girl of his dreams in these beautiful words. A goddess! She’s like a goddess now?! How am I supposed to compete with that?!
And then she stopped short. Competing? Since when was she competing? Kadera’s words must have affected her more than she thought. That was it; the children’s dreams had inexplicably burrowed themselves too deeply in her brain. Kira tugged the bottle away from Nikos, suddenly feeling a desperate need to drink. A lot. To forget all those thoughts that made no sense.
“Sorry, I feel thirsty all of a sudden,” she said by way of explanation before she gulped three mouthfuls of wine. “Must be all the climbing.”
Thankfully, they reached the top now, and she paused before the darkened palace. In her inebriated state, she felt like she could care less what was waiting for them in there. “So… which room has the best beds?” she asked. No? HOW ABOUT THE DEATH OF HEMERA IN Conviction: (featuring Light as Nyx, just for full effect ) - Quote :
- [Bubbles] Sailor Neptune ♆ (≠ ☿)-Today at 2:30 PM
She wasn't ready. That was all Hemera could think about when, grasping her sister's hand, she held her staff aloft and watched as the Great Worm reappeared, launching straight at them as if it knew what they were planning. She didn't have time to breathe. Only do. Summoning every ounce of magic left in her body, she willed herself to become one with Nyx, praying to their planet for help. "MIDNIGHT SUN!" Light-Today at 2:32 PM This was it. No turning back. Even remembering what happened the last time they did this... Would it even be enough? Or would that simply remove from the battle the last few that were able to fight?
The worm launched itself directly at them. She held her sister's hand tighter. Summoning every ounce of magic left in her body, she willed herself to become one with Hemera, praying to their planet for help. "MIDNIGHT SUN!" [Bubbles] Sailor Neptune ♆ (≠ ☿)-Today at 2:40 PM She watched as the worm fell, but even as it did, the sharp teeth remained on their trajectory. Panicking and doing the only thing she could, she moved in front of her sister to make sure none of it hit her. Light-Today at 2:43 PM They did it. And unlike last time, she was still conscious, but barely able to move. There seemed to be something still headed their way though... And then... her sister jumped right in front of her.
"Wh-- what are you doing? D-- don't!!" she cried out with all her remaining strength. [Bubbles] Sailor Neptune ♆ (≠ ☿)-Today at 2:50 PM It had happened so fast. One moment they were victorious, not even passed out, but then that attack... all she could do was think not her, not before I tell her, and then she was there, and then the pain... so much pain. There was nothing but pain. She fell onto her sister's body, her wings useless now. "I'm sorry, Amaya," she said as quickly as possible, while she still had some strength. "I didn't mean to get you here... you weren't conscripted. I just... didn't want to go on my own. I wanted to have an adventure..." She felt strangely light. "...together with you." One last tear rolled down her cheek as she clung to her sister, feeling the life seeping out of her. Her body was turning into stardust, slowly but surely losing its solidity in Nyx's arms.
Light-Today at 3:02 PM As her sister's body fell on hers, Nyx lowered both to the ground, unable to keep both of them afloat. "No! You... You can't!"
And then Hemera proceeded to tell her that little secret of hers. Her just-in-case. "No... shut up... we'll get you fixed..." she added in between, but she continued. She wasn't... conscripted? She only wanted to have an adventure together with her...
And then just like that, she was gone, her body slowly fading away. "No! Do something! DO SOMETHING!" she cried out. There has to be a way, there just has to!
Then she remembered the square objects that old woman had given her. They possessed great magic, enough to reverse time, didn't they? Without thinking twice, she dropped one, and she found herself right before the moment of the impact. But nothing changed. She tried to push her sister out of the way, but she was too late.
It all happened the same way.
She stared at the last square object she had left. Rather emotionlessly, she dropped it.
Again, she was at that same frightful moment. But this time, she made no attempt to move. It was something else that she would change.
She let her sister say the same words again, and grasped her hands tight. "You idiot! I don't care! I would never have left you to go alone anyway!" she said, tears streaming down her face.
"I... I always knew we could fly. I was just afraid... Afraid that you'd just fly away on your own... straight into danger... Never really considering what would make you happy. I-- I'm sorry too. I'm so sorry... In-- Inara..." she concluded, sobbing as her sister closed her eyes once more. Her body beginning to fade from existence once more. Yeaaaaah! And there’s more where that came from - a lot more; I only mentioned the ones from storylines I was/am personally a part of because they were just the first examples to come to mind. In anything that Bubbles does, she takes her talent with her - expect to take a ride whenever you jump into something she’s in, ‘cause she’s amazing.
