Appearance: Standing at 5 feet 9 inches tall with an athletic build, short-cropped, light blonde hair and bright blue eyes, it's no argument that Haruka is a heart-throb. Her preference for more androgynous clothing often leads to female interest, with many mistaking her for male, but Haruka isn't the type to mind. Not only does she enjoy the attention, she also likes what she likes and isn't one to be swayed by popular opinion. If she wants to wear a feminine dress, or a masculine tuxedo, concepts of gender don't get in her way. Her pale, white skin is naturally clear, and her 100-watt smile is one of her best features.

Haruka Tenou is a powerful combination of nerve and stubbornness. Between the two, she easily defeats most challenges that come her way, especially if those challenges involve sports or fast reflexes. Adept though she is, her talents never go to her head. You'd never find her giving swirlies in the locker room back in high school. She's more likely to be the mentoring senpai than criticizing bully.

Her impressive air of casual cool covers the funny, tender-hearted joker beneath and you may not ever see that side of her if you aren't looking. Haruka is selective that way, carefully choosing who she lets into her life, who she lets see her heart. Her softness is often covered by her tough exterior - she'd rather dazzle you with a basketball dunk than pour out her heart, and she'll find a basketball if she has to, if it stops her from having one of those conversations.

Because she can be inexperienced when it comes to talking out her feelings, she's often blunt and can trip over her words when trying to say something meaningful. Her myopic view of the world and limited insight into other people makes her quick to form judgements about them and getting Haruka to change her mind once it's made up is a Herculean task. It can be done, but it takes nerve.

If you do manage to worm your way into her inner circle, consider yourself lucky. You'll be delighted and sometimes vexed by her hidden goofiness and warmed by her powerful sense of loyalty. The world to Haruka is black and white, and becoming close to her is like flipping a light switch - you're in, or you're not. She protects those close to her at any and all costs. She's the type who would rather end the world than lose what she cares about, because what's the point of the world without the people and things she loves in it?

History: Born to a wealthy family, Haruka grew up with the resources needed to mold her into a top student at her high school alma matter, Mugen Academy, where she wore the uniform for male students. Though she was part of the track and field team in junior high, she found a love of racing, becoming a top Japanese race car driver at an early age by getting her driver's license overseas (or so she claims...). Unsurprisingly, she also excels at racing video games. In her free time, she enjoys cruising around in her sports car, or riding her motorcycle. Additionally, she owns a helicopter, which is nicknamed Tenoumaru.

Storyline Specific Information:
Complications - An AU set in modern day Tokyo where the sailor senshi don't exist and the girls are completely unacquainted with one another. Haruka Tenou knows what she wants in life - to be Japan's top race-car driver. That is, until a risky move in Japan's grand prix leaves her in the care of Tokyo Takanawa Hospital's elite surgeon Michiru Kaiou. Bored and confined to her hospital room, Haruka tests the limits of the beautiful, young surgeon's patience, but as the days pass, Haruka realizes there may be more to Doctor Kaiou than her icy exterior suggests. But will Haruka dare to open her heart when she can't tell what might be lurking beneath Michiru's surface?

Haruka will likely wear a variety of outfits depending on how the story progresses:

In hospital, she will mostly be wearing a white hospital gown that ties at the neck and has a slit in the back. However, since she can afford the best care, hers will be made of a soft, satin fabric rather than the usual scratchy, paper-y kind.

When racing or referencing her racing via possible flashbacks, she will be outfitted in full racing gear - a red leather uniform with two fat black stripes running up each side of her body from ankle to hip, the from wrist to neck. Her outfit includes red, leather gloves with grips on the finger pads, and a polished red helmet with black visor and black pinstripe down the center from front to back, as well as red leather sneakers that are form fitted and resemble soccer cleats, sans the actual cleats on the bottom.

When fully dressed she will wear a lose white blouse and form fitted blue jeans from a high quality retailer. The color is even and the clothes are obviously hand stitched and of an exceptional quality. Most importantly to Haruka, they're soft, comfortable, and offer no restraint - she can run, jump, or just stand there looking pretty and winking. ;D She will optionally wear a black leather jacket with breast and inner pockets and a silk lining, flipping up the collar when chilled or caught in the rain.

She may optionally wear a gold or silver hoop earring in only her right ear, and sometimes a feminine looking watch with small white face and silver band. This is the only jewelry she favors.

+ Automobile Racing: Haruka is an ace race car driver... with the exception of her recent crash. She's known on the track as a thrill-seeker who isn't afraid to take risks.
+ Pianist: Haruka is adept at playing the piano, having played since childhood. This can be attributed to her wealthy upbringing - it was important she be "well rounded," and the femininity of playing piano helped to temper her other, more boy-ish tendencies.
+ Fencing: In her spare time, Haruka is actively athletic and enjoys fencing. She doesn't compete, but prefers to work up a sweat in sparring matches with her personal coach.
 
History: Born into a wealthy family, Haruka was trained from an early age to take over the family business. Mathematics, piano, fencing - she was home schooled in all areas by the best tutors in an attempt to mold her into the aristocratic woman she was meant to become. Her palatial home often felt empty - her father worked long hours, often leaving on overseas trips for months at a time and she had never known her mother, who died giving birth to her. Her loneliness and lack of a strong parental figure informed both her sense of responsibility and her flirtatious attitude. The more the pressures of high society leaned on her, the more she held firm to quiet rebellions. If she needed to be athletic, she would choose the most high stake sports, learning to sword fight and drive fast cars. If she had to look prim and polished, she would choose male formal attire. She would always arrive pressed and dressed, if not in the way she was expected to. Her subtle inversions of the limits and obligations of her life gave her a taste of the freedom she craved.

When she entered high school age, she enrolled at Mugen Academy. With high marks and talent, she was accepted with ease. Her new venture secured, she had the excuse she craved to own a Tokyo apartment. It would be closer to her studies and she would need the extra time to form useful bonds with other students. Really, she just wanted to try striking it out on her own. Well, as on her own as the bankrolled child of a wealthy CEO could get, not that she didn't have a good chunk of racing money stashed away. Though she made the effort, she hadn't really connected with anyone in the way she thought she would. Hierarchy in wealthy Tokyo circles seemed established, and linking yourself to any one group felt like a bigger commitment than just friendship. It might turn into a business agreement, or worse, a marriage arrangement. Haruka learned that although she was now surrounded by people, she was still all alone.

The only time she felt happy, truly happy, was when she was racing. The purr of the motor, the screech of the tires, the smell of rubber on asphalt, it was like a beautiful symphony to her. If her car were an instrument, then she played it like a Stradivarius; racking up win after win, trophy after trophy. Interview and fan meet and greets followed. She didn't like those so much. It wasn't that she didn't like signing autograph books, or making her fans happy, it was just that it felt like the lease sincere part of racing. All that smiling for hours to people she didn't even know felt hollowing.

Haruka had always had confidence in her ability to drive. She felt the car was a part of her, the track the one place she could untether from obligation and be free. That is, until her crash at the Tokyo Grand Prix, when she was rushed to Takanawa hospital... (DUN DUN DUNNN)

Haruka flipped up the collar of her leather jacket as she walked. Caught by the brewing storm, a piece of paper fluttered in the wind, snagged on the bare fingers of a tree branch. It had been a very windy day, but Haruka didn't mind. There was something bracing about the way the wind buffeted her as she walked. It was the air made tangible. It announced itself, let you know it was there. And I can't fault it for that, she thought grinning, If I were the wind, I would have do the same thing. The howling grew stronger, whipping up leaves and stray pieces of trash. The forecast had mentioned a typhoon, but that was Japan for you, respectful of nature, and yet...


People swayed this way and that as some fought against, and others surrendered to the gale. Haruka squared her shoulders - she was the fighting-against type. She turned into the wind, digging her feet into the ground with every step. She pressed her heels into the sidewalk, calves groaning, propelling herself forward. She had to admit, even she was getting tired and her apartment was still blocks away. Haruka stuffed herself into the nearest alleyway, seeking a break from the-

CRASH!

Without warning, something had smashed into her. Unprepared, she tumbled into a sitting position in the small space. Whatever had hit her was warm... soft... and had smelled like... the sea? Haruka opened her eyes. Had she seen Usagi standing there, she would have made a joke. Nice job, bun-head. Running late again? She didn't joke this time. She was too busy picking her jaw up off the floor.

he woman standing before her was a vision. Her teal hair flew in the wind, making her seem big and powerful from where Haruka sat on the floor, and yet she looked so like a porcelain doll. Her collar bones so delicate, her fingers so perfect, so long.

With a start, Haruka realized she was staring. Dusting herself off, she stood up. "Well, hello to you too."
