I can't believe we don't have a thread for this series!! This is one of my absolute favorite shoujo manga series. I love the anime too but the manga is 1203219329305p9342342times better. XD

Who else is a fan? Let's gush over Fruits Basket and how friggin adorable and crazy emotional this series is!

I love the manga and anime. I even have a Shigure backpack ^-^
My feels were all over the place in both, but the manga made me cry.

It was the first manga to make me laugh and cry in just about one sitting. I love Tohru,she's just the cutest and a really inspiring and strong character, even though she's kinda ditzy (which is what makes her so cute xD).

Although, at first I kinda shipped Yuki x Tohru. (in the anime)  

Yeah, I think I was the same too...but the manga totally made me go NOPE KYO. XD

Man, its been so long I need to reread it. I think i finished hte manga back in like 2007?? Its def time for a reread!! I love the ending. So sweet.

The anime is quite similar to the manga but doesn't cover all the manga. ^-^

The anime is really good too, I would highly recommend watching it.    (of course, if you have time)

OMG Fruits Basket is my all time favorite Anime/Manga!! It was the second anime that I watched when starting to become an Otaku. I love it so much and KYOXTOHRU ALL THE WAY!!! At first in the anime I thought Kyo was a complete douche-bag, but then I started to see how cute and caring he is, and now I love him!!! Did any of you watch the english dub? I first watched it in English dubbed(and that was how I was introduced to English dubs!) and loved the adaption of the voices.

I have the entire series on DVD. I've watched both dub and sub. I love them both. ^^ The english dub is enjoyable and I generally prefer subs.

Okay... so we've professed our collective love for Kyo x Tohru (which is awesome), and now let's see if any of the other ships have fans...

I liked that a lot better that I thought I would. It's really cute, and I like the idea of both of them recovering from their childhoods with someone similar...

I love this series so much...I like the manga better, though. There's more to take in. Hopefully someday the anime will get a remake. That would be amazing!

I agree Leto! This is a series that would definitely benefit from a remake to cover the rest of the series. I wonder if it was as popular in Japan as it was in the States. I know it did well over here.

If they remade it...there would be so many feels. I cried a lot reading it...Kyo is just...I love him. <3

The owner of the comic book store where I live got me into Fruits Basket when there was a DVD there. She told me that it was a good anime and I would probably like it. I decided to check it out and brought the DVD than took home to watch. The moment I watched it for the first time I love it.

I first saw it at an anime club I was trying to get into and i loved it the first time too. That series made me cry so much.

I love this series to death! I own some of the anime. I think I'm missing one of the DVD volumes? The anime ending made me cried so hard. ;-;

But like Brit said the manga is like 3875r349857230983049839085 times better. I own majority of the manga, but my friend and I split the series together. She buy one volume and I buy the other. Then we borrower them from each other. We did that a lot back in high school with manga series we both liked. Near in the end of the manga's run I didn't want to wait for Tokyopop translate it so I read the rest of it  from scanlations. 

I wish the anime continued on. I liked how they made the funny scenes in the manga funnier. XD

I despise that they didn't do the story justice in the anime. I don't blame them though, it took a while for the manga to be finished. This was one of my first anime.

I knew Fruits Basket for the first time through my cousin when I was 13 years old, she was the one who introduced me the series. My cousin once ever became a Fruits Basket fan, she had the anime DVD and the manga collections of Fruits Basket. I used to read Fruits Basket manga and watched the anime with my cousin during school holiday or during weekends if we had any spare time.

If I should say the anime is okay while the manga is better because Tohru's character is somewhat more fleshed out in the manga. Plus, the story in the manga is more touching than the anime, I feel the anime is somewhat lacking. 

I still remember that my most favorite character of the series was Shigure and Momiji because they were funny. I didn't like Kyo at first, but afterwards I am grew to like him, he and Tohru as a couple is nice. I also quite like Yuki, because he is really sweet and some of his moments with Tohru can be cute.

I didn't even know what shipping was when I watched Fruits Basket, so I'm not sure who I shipped.  I've never read the manga though with Fruits Basket.  I need to rewatch it sometime!

Anyway, I recently started watching this anime (I've discovered I'm one of those people who generally watches the anime adaption first and then continues with the manga, though I'm the complete opposite with books) and I absolutely LOVE it. The animation is nice, the ending theme is quickly becoming one of my favorites (I'm watching the dub so I get to hear the English version), and the opening is no slouch either. All the characters are good, but my favorite (as of episode 4) is probably Shigure, just because he's so chill and easygoing compared to the other Sohmas. And Tohru, or course, is awesome.

I reread and finished this manga at 3 am. I am in love with it all over again. 

Hey y'all...........dunno if it's OK to bring this up, since this topic hasn't been touched for about 2 years, but 1. I completely adore this series it is AMAZING, and 2. the anime is getting a reboot next year! From what I've heard they're going to do it completely, so we'll get to see all the characters grow up like they did in the manga!

Also, how has no-one mentioned Momiji yet? My precious baby child!

I love both the Fruits Basket anime and manga including the reboot anime series. I really like all of the characters, but my favorite character is Yuki because he's so adorable and he's a very sweet guy too.
