| I've been meaning to make this thread for awhile.
So I was thinking about the destiny of the girls chosen to be sailor senshi. While the senshi are all given their powers in order to fight the villains who threaten the planet and solar system. As well as the guardian senshi's duty to protect the royal family.
I wanted to discuss whether you feel the girls should be trapped in their eternal duty of a soldier or relinquishing or losing their powers and living out there lives as normal girls with chances of happiness, joy, and love? |

| I think there comes a point where they accept their and would not want any other kind of life. I think they all have a special bond with each other and care too much about each other to ever truly leave. It would be nice for them to be able to lead normals lives, but in my opinion, they will never be able to. |

| Well actually, through the centuries they have always been together just as one big family? And what's an ordinary life for a girl who's always been a Senshi even in her past lives? Wouldn't the Sailor Senshis also feel a bit useless after fighting against evil life after life and suddenly becoming a normal person afterwards? I truly think so. |

| I think they can still lead a normal kind of life.
Why can't they? They're not any different to other super heroes who still seem to hold down jobs and have relationships. |

| Well one of the things I really liked about PGSM is that the girls all lost their powers and were able to live normal happy lives. I mean in the beginning being a Sailor Senshi was so poetic, noble and romantic. But after facing repeated conflicts and suffering casualties every time, and the only thing to look forward to is nearly immortal lifespan with the prospect of more conflicts.
I think one life to live is enough. |

| Finally get to finish my post from earlier in the week.
What I wanted to say was I think the girls responsibility as senshi and their future lives in Neo Crystal Tokyo hinder them from achieving their goals in the present time.
Usagi: Didn't have many goals aside from being married to Mamoru and living happily ever after.
Ami's goal was to be a doctor.
Rei was content being a shrine maiden
Makoto goal was to own a bakery
Minako's goal was to be a singer
Michiru professional violinist
Haruka was a talented pianist and had a liked race cars
Setsuna's goal was to be a designer
Lastly, Mamoru like Ami was studying to be a doctor.
If the protagonists had a normal life they could work toward achieving their personal goals.

| Tts party my head cannon, that Mamoru was able to become a doctor and worked as a doctor during Crystal Tokyo. I also think that once the girls graduated high school, they were able to achieve some of their dreams, but once it was obvious they would get the good life of living in the Crystal Palace, they just officially lived there. I always thought that while they were still committed to their duty, there were times of peace where they were able to live out their dreams.
And since people would know who they were in Crystal Tokyo as in like they know that Minako Aino is Sailor Venus, etc. Minako was able to easily become a pop idol. Sometimes she and Michiru would have concerts together.
It's head cannon, but its totally possible. Crystal Tokyo apparently had a long period of peace before the Black Moon clan attacked. What else would they be doing during that time period? Besides political, domestic affair type stuff.
Makoto could have totally been solving world hungry with her mad cooking skills. |

| I think that they could have normal lives- why not? Superman and other Western superheroes have careers and families on the side. Senshi would have an advantage over those heroes in Crystal Tokyo, though- anyone who targeted their loved ones- since Serenity and her friends rule- would be committing political and military suicide. There would be no place to flee. In the peace of Crystal Tokyo, I would think that having a normal life on the side would be easy. Real-life soldiers have normal lives when they're not fighting; I would think that super-heroes could ever moreso. The whole oh-noes-they-can-never-haz-dreams is really more of a fandom trope. I didn't come online until recently, and it had never occurred to me- but it seems to be a meme online. :S Serenity's guardians have super, SUPER-important positions; I imagine they could do pretty much whatever they wanted. The sole exception is, unfortunately, my favorite: Setsuna. Her fate is just screwed. It's *SO* unfair. *WHY* stuff her in the 4th dimension?!?! ;A; Couldn't she and other Plutonians turns or something? (Maybe she could get married, have kids + grandkids and they could swap duties every few years? If there was ever a non-romantic rationale for getting married, Pluto has one!) The intimation that she's always stuck there, even in CT, bothers me. [Also, why it is the black one who's basically enslaved like that? I'm not one to see racism everywhere, but that aspect of it *also* really bothers me.] For the others, though, I think they'll end up happily. (Especially Michiru, who in the SuperS OAV seems to only have one goal...) |

| *opening dead thread*
Personally I feel that Ami, Rei, Makoto, Haruka, Michiru and Hotaru will be eventually free to choose their own paths... I feel Usagi, Minako and Setsuna are eternally bound by their fate. |

| I don't really think so, I think while Hotaru is /capable/ of it. After her second birth in the manga and the anime she seemed to pose no real threat to the Solar System, I mean they did try to raise her or at least, leave Setsuna to raise her. I feel that after Crystal Tokyo, Hotaru will be able to juggle being Saturn as well as collecting all lamps. But thats just my opinion X3 I'm iffy on Minako and Setsuna. I don't think in manga or anime or musical continuity they will ever accept a normal life. |

| In my opinion minako would be potentially able to pursue her individual life but I think she's held back by the pressure of being the most powerful and the leader of Usagi's guardians. As long as Usagi exists as a mortal Minako can't live in freedom.
Hotaru is similar but there's the difference that I think Sestuna Haruka and Michiru are very paranoid and want to make Hotaru avoid anything to do with being a senshi at all o_o.
As for Setsuna... she has a door, at least. It's a very nice door, it's nice it's different it's unusual. |

| I don't think Minako or Setsuna would ever take the choice if it was given to them... and I don't think Hotaru after the Infinity arc posed a threat to them. She was supposed to awaken when the Talismans came together. And now they just run around with the talismans singing Broken MOBIUS with no worries. I think Haruka and Michiru would be able to choose both mission and personal life. Besides, Hotaru HAS NO ASPIRATIONS BEYOND LAMPS. |

| I think that all of them are happier as Senshi, if only because of the comforting group bond it brings. But I think they also have time for some personal goals on the side.
Ami, Mamoru, and Hotaru all wanted medical careers. Minako and Michiru wanted music careers. Rei wanted to remain at the shrine. Makoto wanted to go into cooking or gardening. Haruka wanted to race cars. Setsuna wanted to design. And Usagi just wanted to have a family. It could all still happen, even if their duty comes first. We just never really got to see them having down time because the series was focused on the various wars. |

| Actually in both the anime and the musicals, Rei also had musical aspirations.
I see the girls as just a group of lonely individuals, outcast by society coming together as one in the sweetest way possible ^^ Let's face it, with the exception of Usagi, they're all outcasts in some way or another. =\
People think Ami, Rei and Michiru are snobs... they think Makoto and Haruka are scary... They think Setsuna and Hotaru are creepy freaks of nature... Minako's the weird one, as Sailor V she became discluded from main society. |
