Why don't we have this topic yet!? I'm sure there are a ton people on here that are huge Harvest Moon fans. Harvest moon Games that I have played:

I just got Tale of Two Towns and I'm addicted to it! My favorite platform game is Tree of Tranquility. My favorite portable game is More Friends of Mineral Town, but Tale of Two Towns is so close to being my favorite. However there a few things that bother me about the game.
My least favorite:
All of the game cube games: Wonder life and Magical Melody. I didn't like the bachelors for the girl in Another Wonderful Life. They were all creepy old guys expect for Rock, but I didn't really like him. The guy Wonderful life was okay, but I didn't like the village. As for Magical Melody I liked the plot, but that graphics really turned me off and the village was too small.

DS Games: DS/DS cute games. Again for the girl it had the bachelors from Wonderful life and Forget me not valley is my least favorite village.

So about you guys? Your likes/Dislikes ect.

I've never played Harvest Moon but I've been really wanting to get into it. There's so many games so I have no idea where to start @__@ Which do you think is a good one to start off with? I have most if not all the consoles they've been released on.

With the Harvest Moon games, you can pretty much start at whichever one. They don't have any connecting storyline to each game. However, there are ones that are better than the others. You may want to look up reviews for them.

If you are considering the DS one, I'd avoid the first Harvest Moon DS and go with Harvest Moon DS Cute or one of the other ones. From what I understand, Harvest Moon DS had a lot of bugs and gliches which were fixed with the Cute version. You could also always just go with the latest one, Tale of Two Towns. ^^

I've honestly never played the games, but my BF has played almost all of them besides the newer ones and I have some friends pretty into them too. ^^ I've been meaning to try them...just...very...bad...at gaming. u.u

I would recommend back to nature if you have a play station. It's really good and you have a purpose to make your farm successful. You have to befriend all the villagers and you have to make a lot of money. Like Small Lady said you can start with any game. As for Tale of Towns while I do love that game there are some problems with it. Not glitch wise just game play things. It might not bother you though since you never played an HM game.

I tried out Mineral Town (the girl one) last night because GBA is the easiest system to emulate and I haven't gotten the chance to make a Gamestop run lately. It was fun but I totally failed at it, I might take another stab after reading a walkthrough xD On the third day I spent literally all my money on a random apple from the Chinese guy and accidentally threw it on the ground. That made it disappear forever so I ragequit ; ;

One thing about the games is that I can't decide if I'd rather play a girl or play a boy so I can marry the cute girls xD I wish I could do both ; ;

Later games have the option where you can choose between a boy and girl. Sometimes I have a girl file and a boy file that way I can marry both genders! It just depends if find the girl villagers cute and usually they are. Mineral Town GBA games is a lot fun, but it's endless. Don't buy apples from the Chinese guy. They're just normal apples. In the fall your tree by the pound will grow apples.

Forgive me for resurrecting this old thread but I was suddenly struck by the need to talk about Harvest Moon.

Forever bitter that I never got to finish my Back to Nature game after working painfully on building the farm and the relationships twice. ;_; I think that whoever you end up marrying will be that girl we saw at the beginning of the story though right? Because I've debated this a lot with a friend who successfully married one girl and turned out to be the girl from the opening but I think they all would be. I was planning to marry another one to prove my theory but never got that far   

I have not made it that far as I recently just bought and started playing this one so far xD But as far as I can tell from reading about it and playing almost every other Harvest Moon game, I'm pretty sure you can marry any of five girls(Ann, Elli, Popuri, Karen, or Mary) Again I'm not completely sure, but that's how it was for the 64 version and other ps/ps2 versions xD So I guess this doesn't completely answer your question, but I hope it helps?? xD

Back to Nature? That PS1 game? You get to pick the girl you want to marry. ._.

Yeah, I know you can marry any one of them, it's just the story at the beginning says one of them is the main character's childhood friend, and then after marriage it'd turn out the mysterious girl from the opening is one of them. What I was wondering if it remains true whoever you marry. ^^ (I was so going to marry Karen!)

I really like the Mineral Town characters, and I first found out about Harvest Moon because of Nintendo Power. My favourite game is More Friends of Mineral Town for the Gameboy Advance. I do not have a least favourite game. The new one being released by Natsume The Lost Valley, I find the art style is a little off-putting. Story of Seasons (Connect to a New Land in Japan) looks like it will be good old fashion Harvest Moon though.

Been a while since I've played that far, but I'm pretty sure I remember that whichever girl you marry is the on you met in your childhood.  I always marry Mary, I think she is in that game. Or Maria. The same character design uses both names from one game to another so I tend to forget.   But, yeah.  Pretty sure the girl from your past is whoever you wind up marrying.

@Yamichan: I don't think Magical Melody is that bad.  There is a lot they could have done better, though.  The festivals are all seriously disappointing.  You can't really participate in any of them!  They're all just show up, talk to everyone once, and that's it.  If you don't have a horse for the races, you can't watch or bet on any of them, and if you DO have a horse you can only see the race you're in. -_-  But, overall I like it and start a new game fairly often.  I usually wind up marrying Bob now.  I used to marry Joe, but then I became good enough friends with Bob once to see his comment about being timid like horses and decided he was way cuter.  Big strong guy with a head the size of a mountain, and he's afraid he's not strong enough to protect those he cares about.  It's absolutely adorable.  I also absolutely love the musical bit when you get enough notes to save the Harvest Goddess.  I always make sure I have a save just before I go up there with the last notes so I can watch that part any time I want.

I like the music note thing, but the graphics are a turn off to me. Usually I don't care about the graphics.

I can't wait until Harvest Moon comes out next month!!

THERE'S A NEW ONE!?!?!!?!?!!

I meant December and yes. There are two. One is being released from the Japanese company that creates Harvest Moon which I believe is released in Jan. and the other one is created by the North American company that released Harvest Moon here in N.A

Yami knows the entire story between the two games better than I do. I think the N.A one was released this month

Harvest Moon 3D The Lost Valley is the one that is being created by Natsume Inc. It's a chibi style similar to Havest Moon. Story of Seasons is the Japanese one of the Harvest Moon series.

Why Natsume is releasing their own game. :

The Lost Valley which is made by Natsume is out already! This is a spin off. 

Story of Seasons which was made by another company which is an official Harvest Moon game comes out in February in North America. It will not be under the Harvest Moon title in NA because of this.

I used to be super addicted to Harvest Moon. I've played A Wonderful Life, Friends of Mineral Town, Harvest Moon DS, and a bit of the SNES one. I played Magical Melody for a little while but I didn't enjoy it much.

My little cousins are addicted to Harvest Moon now, so I want to start playing the most recent ones.

@ Addy No I haven't because I forgot about it. Plus there are games that are more important right now. *cough*Smash*cough*

I want to get Story of Seasons first seeing how that is an official Harvest Moon game plus I read up on when it released in Japan and seems like fun. I know nothing about Lost Valley. However my friend told me that regular Harvest Moon fans didn't like it, but people who are new to the series would like it.

The rune factory branch of harvest moon games are my favorite, though I have played friend of a mineral town and more friends of a mineral town.

Aaargh I miss Harvest Moon so much. I don't have a 3DS or know anything about how to use it ;_; I'm so behind with gaming consoles

Aww Mercury! If you ever used a Game Boy Colour or Game Boy advanced back in the 90s or early 2000s, then you know how to use one! As long as you know how to use a controller it's virtually all the same!
