Originally a spin-off of Harvest Moon, it's developed into it's own series now.

So far I've only played the first two, but I've certainly enjoyed them.

I am a Harvest Moon fan but I have been terrified to try Rune Factory. It is really hard to find the first DS game. It does have beautiful character art though.

I never played them before. Are they fun?

I'm not playing it at the moment, but my boyfriend is playing it on my (i guess now his DS, i'm currently playing Magical Starshine, another DS game), but he seems to be enjoying it so far and he is a fan of the Harvest Moon games. He always complains that he can't tell if his guy character is really a guy though. XD

I'm a huge harvest moon fan, but I have always been unsure about the rune factory series.

I'd recommend it to anybody, though sadly the company that was in charge of producing the series went under earlier this year. It's like animal crossing and harvest moon, but with plot, romance, and a bunch of crafting, grinding and badguy killing. The only one's I have not played is the first one and frontier. In terms of difficulty, oceans is actually the hardest. overall the fourth one is the best. If you can get any of em cheap, swipe em up. That's what I did. I found the first one I ever played, the third one, for 6 bucks. One of the best 6 bucks I've ever spent on a videogame.
