Despite her cool and disinterested demeanor, her background, and appearance of an elegant maiden, Rei is not a pushover. While over the years her hot head has cooled somewhat, her passionate nature and temperament keeps that flame burning beneath the surface, her mind ready to speak the strong feelings of her heart to defend ideals held by herself or her friends. She will not suffer fools for long, as she feels she does not have time to deal with them; she will either tell them why they are wrong (in a direct in practical manner, mind you) to fix them, or, if with friends who beg her do otherwise, she'll simply walk away, unable to hide her annoyance but keeping her tongue in check, at least. 

Overall, Rei comes off as an aristocrat - calm and detached, reasonable and unattainable, always with a secret in her eyes that you have no hope of finding out. She's sophisticated with whip-like intelligence, well-organized and traditional with many of her views and beliefs. She is disciplined in nearly everything (save that temper). 

She likes to be in control; even while passionate, she always has control over herself and her words, saying what she honestly means, and she loathes losing that control. In this, she realized that she would not allow herself to fall in love, as she would consume them with her need to be in control and would thus change them and herself in the process. As such, she has sworn off men, and is, in general, uninterested in romantic relationships. Not to mention she has a generally low opinion of men due to a lack of respectable males in her life, beyond her grandfather. She considers them emotionally weak and untrustworthy, but for a favored few who have proven themselves otherwise, like her grandfather, and King Endymion.

Mannerisms: Rei has excellent formal manners, and remembers them often - unless she's been provoked beyond her usual control. Before boiling over, Rei has mastered the art of hiding her words within formal speech, her dislike simmering below the surface - it is a sign of her temper flaring when her speech becomes more flowery, and her friends know that the nicer her words are, the faster they should remove her from the situation, else prepare for the backlash of when she explodes.

Other Noteworthy Facts: Rei likes meditating and ancient writing; her favorite gem is the ruby; her favorite food is Thai food and fugu (pufferfish - very dangerous when not done well, very high class) and plum juice; her favorite flower is white Casablanca; she likes lizards and pandas. Storyline Specific Information:

• Light in Darkness - She was more of an active participant in these Sailor Wars, her position, her age, her knowledge and her strength made her an asset that could not afford to stay out of the conflict, even if she had wanted to. When the galaxy erupted in Chaos five months ago, Rei had originally attempted to coordinate attacks, but as allied planets were overwhelmed, she gave her duties to Jupiter so she could go out into the worlds and affect positive change; she and Jupiter kept in contact constantly - while many senshi stayed with their assigned planet until it was cleared of Chaos, she would arrive, make changes, lead a drive, push senshi forward, and then leave on a new assignment on another planet that was worse off.
  Three days ago, Jupiter didn't even know where to send her, things had gotten so bad. Senshi were lost, outnumbered, overpowered. Their deaths made her so angry, hurt her so much, one especially...
  As events let up, a report went out about a Sailor Crystal being stolen, and Rei had had enough. Sailor Crystals weren't just stolen by anyone, and if people were after a key player behind all of this, she would make sure they won.
  
• Continuation - Two months had passed since the event at the Galaxy Cauldron; Mars had been reunited with Venus, a miracle with mechanics that she may not have fully understood, but she revered nevertheless. With the Rebirth of the fallen Senshi, their efforts were redoubled, their advances pushed and the affects of their interference in this Sailor War and Chaos's push towards dominance reverberated throughout the Galaxy. With more communication than ever between she and Venus, and she and Jupiter, they pushed their fronts and reclaimed lost territories, forcing the darkness away and leading senshi onwards with renewed hope and purpose. 
  The war was not won, but there was a balance now that they had not had in the beginning. 
  With information sharing in mind, she, Venus and Mercury put together a conclave on an unremarkable planet to share information without risk of interception by Chaos agents, that they could continue the drive and end the war once and for all.

Mars streaked through space with a scowl of determination on her face, her Sailor Wings all but throwing her body forward with the force of each wing beat. She searched Sagittarius Zero Star critically, amethyst eyes narrowed, spotting a small dot near the mid-point of the river that snaked around the middle ground, but another group almost below her drew her eyes more. Sensing a change before it could happen, she prepared for the catch, bracing herself for the swift downward pull in a way that would allow her to roll out of it comfortably. When it came, she was ready, rocketing out of the sky like a red bullet in a satin skirt.

As she approached the ground she went into a well-practiced roll that took her back to her feet with the momentum of the fall, and in the span of a moment she was with Mercury, standing right beside her, their arms touching and her head leaning in towards her in a quiet greeting between friends who had been separated for months, but immediately she noticed something was wrong - Mercury looked agitated, and Mercury was never agitated. The pain and hurt in her eyes reflected Rei's own, but it seemed less like something battling below the surface, and more like something dragged up, fresh on her mind. First things were first, but she wouldn't let that pass. They had enough distractions to work with, enough weight on their minds and their hearts, and if she could put whatever was bothering Mercury to rest, she would.

Her voice was tense as she dispensed with business, first. "I saw the others ahead, crossing the river beyond this forest. The trees don't feel right," she stated, expressing the foul psychic feelings radiating from the canopy of trees ahead of them, "Is there a faster path through?"

Quietly, she added, "What's wrong?"
