Kyan is a 170 cm (5’ 7”) daimon humanoid weighing approximately 59 kg (~130lbs) on Earth. She appears to humans as a pale-skinned woman in her late twenties with short light blue hair and deep blue eyes. Her bangs and the topmost layer of her hair and are pulled back into a high bun. A lavender-colored hair band centered with a large black star holds her bun in place. The remaining layer of hair fans outward from the center back of Kyan’s head. On both sides of her face, two small tufts of hair (which were too short for her hair bun) dangle alongside her lavender-colored earrings.
Her face is young and well made-up to cover any visible flaws from her constant effort to retain a humanoid form. Her tongue is slightly longer than a human’s, allowing her to touch her nose with ease if she wanted. Kyan possesses long, slender fingers with sharp nails that are usually painted black. She wears a lavender-colored 1”/2.54cm bead bracelet around her right wrist. Note that she is unable to cover up her flawed tongue and fingers, which subtly reflect their true appearance.
While posing as a human civilian, Kyan usually wears a pair of simple lavender pumps with a light green blouse and skirt covered by a white knee-length, fitted, button-up lab coat. The lab coat has two deep pockets on either side of her waist and is usually left unbuttoned. The sleeves of the coat run a bit long and tend to bunch up at her elbows whenever she bends her arms. Kyan almost always wears a pair of large white headphones around her neck and a pair of flexible reading glasses whenever she is out in public. If she is not wearing her lab clothing, she is more than likely wearing the newest set of designer clothes to satisfy her hankering for lavish items.
When in her witch costume, Kyan wears an open-back purple dress, matching bluish black tights and a pair of lighter purple pumps. The front of the dress bodice is comprised of two draped criss-crossed panels of purple silk chiffon material which leave a triangular gap between her breasts. A chain of black stars is clasped tightly around her neck to provide support to the wrapped bodice of her dress. A horizontal bluish black band extenuates Kyan’s waistline and separates the dress bodice from the gathered dress skirt which flares outward at her midriff. Underneath the flared skirt is slightly tattered layer of ruffled silk charmeuse fabric which is the same color as the horizontal band.
In her true daimon form, Kyan resembles what could be described as a menacing, human-shaped, bony, beast-like* demon creature standing at about 6 feet in height. Her body is devoid of all color with her four glowing blue eyes as the only exception. Two large tusk-like appendages protrude from either side of her mouth which is full of jagged teeth. Her long tongue tends to hang out from her mouth, especially when she charges at her foes on all fours. The upper half of her body is covered in dark blade-like fur that splays outward and resembles black kyanite. These blades are especially abundant on her hunched back, head, and elbows. Her arms and claws are disproportionately long compared to the rest of her body causing her to hunch forward with her sharp claws curled into her large palms whenever she is standing still. Dark shadow-like matter emanates from the surface of her body due to the Earth's inability to effectively hold her celestial body together. Note that if she were back on Tau, her contours would be more solid.
*Badgers, bats and prehistoric sloths have features and appendages matching closest to what I had in mind.
Personality: Kyan is a level 94 witch originally from the Tau Nebula. Under the human alias Anya Katayeva, Kyan poses as a Russian guest physicist researching wave mechanics at Mugen Academy. Her interest in wave mechanics stems from her hypersensitivity to vibrations and sound. As a scientist, she is hardworking and relatively organized, spending long hours alone in the lab with her Piezo XL noise machines and keeping all of her extraneous notes on a clipboard tucked in the pocket of a large blue binder that she carries around. Occasionally her Russian colleagues collaborate with her on projects, but they have come to believe that her bad habit of wearing noise-canceling headphones during social interactions signifies a passive-aggressive wish to be left alone. Kyan is stubbornly independent and does not like other people meddling in her affairs, making her fairly difficult for some people to work with. Those who do end up working with her quickly realize that she is a huge klutz—on Earth at least. Due to Earth’s weak gravitational pull, Kyan often overcompensates for motion and for the weight of objects, leading to humans commonly portraying her as rather clumsy whenever she inadvertently hurls an object at somebody’s face or nearly trips over her own footing after taking too long a stride. Oops.
Although her keen perception of sound helps her interpret human social cues and avoid danger, over-stimulation caused by Earth’s tectonic movement and telecommunication systems leaves her with a volatile temperament, as both forms of background noise interfere with her ability to efficiently gather pure hearts from humans. Kyan tends to lose patience quickly and is easily annoyed by any vibrational disturbances that are cacophonous in nature. She especially dislikes the sound of shrill voices, shattering glass, and tremors. Even something as minute as jumping up and down on the floor could be enough to set her off when she is in a foul mood. Despite her temperament, Kyan is normally not a risk taker and will hold her tongue or flee to spare her own life the moment a situation falls out of her favor. If however, she reaches her breaking point, she will recklessly attack or speak her mind regardless of the circumstances.
Kyan is somewhat aware of her own temperament and tries to soothe herself whenever possible, either by reducing background noise with headphones or by exposing herself to frequencies that are harmonious to her own body. For this reason, she is absolutely mesmerized by the hum of crystal glass! If lucky, some unfortunate soul might catch her in a bar or a shop resisting the urge to rub the outer rims of every filled wine glass that she comes across. (Don't call her out on it or she might throw one at you!) If she happens to be in the right mood, she may even drink some of the wine to change the tone of the glass, but she prefers to drink mors and tea. In addition to her fascination with crystal glass, Kyan is also intrigued by the materialistic aspect of the human lifestyle: she often spoils herself with fancy human possessions and delicacies such as jewelry, designer dresses, caviar, and truffles.
Whenever happy or excited, Kyan has the tendency to clasp her hands together and raise her voice up an octave to express her amusement. She frequently does this whenever she sees a human doing something that she deems adorably pathetic or naïve. Although Kyan is generally nice to humans during her daily interactions with them (as Anya of course), the majority of her "kindness" is self-satisfying. In reality, Kyan sees humans as no more than a resource for the Tau Nebula and for her own entertainment. Kyan has also come to believe that humans are deaf to the tones of their own souls and are consequently led astray in their quest for peace and tranquility, thus encouraging her to belittle them and re-purpose their “wasted beauty” for her own needs. Her attitude toward humans is subtly reflected in the way she addresses them in the diminutive -commonly as hun or dear- whenever she speaks.
Fueled by curiosity and the desire to self-indulge, Kyan loves to get personal with her targets before taking their heart crystals. This is partially because the background noise caused by Earth's tectonic movement limits her ability to accurately locate pure heart frequencies from a distance. Thus, she must confront targets to assess the worth of pursuing them. Whenever she locates targets with suitable souls for her intended purpose, Kyan will put complete focus onto them by doing whatever she can to win them over with a seemingly innocuous front. In an effort to gain human trust, Kyan would readily seize the opportunity to befriend, date, or work alongside her victim. She prefers this more involved method of gathering heart crystals -especially when acting alone- because it keeps her from drawing too much attention to herself and it also allows her more time to enjoy herself as she toys with her victims. If however, ordered by her superiors to gather massive amounts of heart crystals in a short period of time, she would loyally do so even though their request may not seem logical or entertaining to her.
When upset, Kyan rarely cries, as crying serves no biological purpose to her daimon form (other than to deceive humans). In addition, she prefers to remain as silent as possible so that people will overlook her, and therefore leave her in peace. During restless or stressful nights, Kyan often isolates herself from her colleagues by climbing tall buildings to be as close to the stars as possible. On cloudy evenings when stargazing is not an option, Kyan loves to frequent the planetarium and Mugen’s astronomy exhibit. Both options typically improve her mood, for she feels a stronger connection to the stars than to any other living creature. Any Unique Abilities/Skills: FORMS HUMANOID: As opposed to controlling a human host, Kyan uses her own humanoid appearance, meaning that she can only externally imitate a human and that her body is far more prone to the gravitational and atmospheric discrepancies between the Earth and Tau Nebula. With little resistance on her body, Kyan’s physical strength and reaction speed is comparable to that of an athletic adult human male on Earth. However, she fears that prolonged exposure to the Earth’s “pathetic” gravitational field might weaken her strength over time due to mass wasting.
Note: She must be careful in preserving her appearance; if her humanoid form is severely damaged in battle, her body will automatically revert to its true form to conserve energy and reduce pain. Kyan may change back to her damaged humanoid form if she wishes, but doing so is usually not ideal. DAIMON: Compared to other female daimons with similar forms, Kyan’s physical strength is average. Conversely, the strength of her magic is above average from years of training to become a witch. In her daimon form, Kyan relies on her long claws and earsplitting shrieks to eliminate her enemies. She may also use her Death move or spells if she believes them to be more effective against her opponent.
LEVITATION DESCRIPTION: The Earth’s gravitational field is much weaker than what is present in the Tau Nebula, allowing Kyan to use less draining levitation magic. However, since her body is accustomed to crushing levels of gravity, she often forgets that she can levitate easily on Earth. In addition, she puts more focus on retaining her humanoid form than on ease of transportation (and knows better than to levitate in front of humans unless she feels threatened or is already attacking them!) ACUTE HEARING/HEIGHTENED SENSITIVITY TO VIBRATIONS DESCRIPTION: As a being with acute hearing, Kyan relies heavily on vibrations and sound to interpret the world around her. Whenever she is complimenting or complaining about “the vibes,” she is referring to the soft hum emitted by the mere existence of other living things. These “soul” frequencies are what drive her to target certain humans.
ADVANTAGES: 1) Kyan is relatively hard to sneak up on if she is in contact with the ground. 2) The purity of the heart is almost guaranteed by the frequency it emits. 3) Though she may not completely understand all of the social and verbal cues given off by humans and animals, Kyan can pick up additional context through the subtle changes in the voice and the heart frequency.
FALLBACKS: 1) Unlike Earth, the Tau Nebula is not a dynamic and evolving system and therefore lacks tectonic movement. As a result, the Earth’s tremors are merely background noise--a complete nuisance to Kyan. Not only do they bring out her sour mood when she is trying to locate something, they also interfere with her ability to accurately pinpoint suitable targets from a distance. 2) Humans are not the only creatures that give off frequencies. Animals, plants, and other beings do too, but each possesses a signature frequency. Kyan can easily tell humans and daimons apart from the frequencies of other living beings. She tries very hard to ignore the rest, usually without much luck.
WEAPONS --WITCH STAFF DESCRIPTION: A long yellow staff with the top twisted into an infinity symbol around a black star which glows a faint lavender color when spells are cast. Kyan specializes in longer-ranged attacks that keep distance between herself and her foes. With her witch staff, she casts a variety of weak spells to discourage enemies from engaging her in close combat. Commonly used spells include small bursts of energy (e.i. shock waves, sonic booms, and pressure waves), static noise, irritating tones, and unusual melodies. By utilizing the wave properties of constructive and destructive interference, the staff may also serve as an amplifier for her noise machines and Death move, and as protection against wave-based attacks. In other words, she cannot be hit with her own attacks as long as the staff is in her possession.
Notes: -The staff materializes before her whenever she initiates combat. -Although the witch staff serves more as support than as a physical weapon, any foe bold enough to charge through Kyan’s spells should expect to be swung at. -The staff is durable but not indestructible. -The staff can be called back to her.
--NOISE MACHINES: PIEZO XL4031, PIEZO XL4032, PIEZO XL094 ORIGIN: Kyan’s own creation; All three machines are installed with a Woofer and Piezo Tweeter. A Piezo Tweeter is “a driver which is dedicated to the reproduction of high frequencies and operated by means of a crystal -in this case pure heart crystals- rather than an electromagnet.” On the other hand, Woofers produce very low frequencies.
DESCRIPTION: The PIEZO XL model noise machines are metallic boxes resembling the conglomerate of an audio processor, fork tuner, digital tuner, and radio. Each machine comes with a metal funnel and is top-plated with a silver audio interface covered in switches and dials that can adjust the properties of sound waves. The small display monitor on the front of the machines shows the pitch as either sharp, flat, or in tune. Kyan can adjust the amplitude, dispersion, phase, and pitch of her machines’ sound waves with the switches, knobs, and dials on the audio interface, and can change the frequency and period by turning the dial on the radio station knob below the display monitor. The volume is adjusted with the large knob on the right side of the display monitor.
Each machine comes equipped with three ports: one for a power cord and two for external speakers. All of Kyan’s noise machines have long power cords. These cords are superfluous and serve to distract her foes from the main power source, the soul(s) trapped within the metal box(es). Nonetheless, she protects the cords in attempt to lure her foes into the more devastating range of her Death move. The PIEZO XL094 is the smallest of the noise machines and lacks a traditional fork tuner on its plated interface. It is the only machine with the primary purpose of transporting a single pure heart crystal. The other two machines hold more souls and can be fueled by any heart crystal regardless of its purity. Purity does however, play an important factor in the efficiency of the machines. Machines running on low quality crystals require more souls to achieve the same frequency range as a single pure heart crystal.
RANGE: Decreases in effectiveness with distance from source. The machines themselves are able to move about freely if enhanced with levitation magic. Range of effectiveness may be increased with the addition of external speakers and the witch staff.
EFFECT: The goal of the noise machines is to stun, confuse, irritate, and divert enemies with the agony of the souls trapped within, so that Kyan can ideally extract their heart crystal and/or crush them with her Death move. Whether or not these goals are achieved will depend on the target’s perception of sound. For example, a deaf target would be unfazed by the machines. DEATH MOVE: CAVATINA BUSTER ORIGIN: Cavatina- “A short and simple melody performed by a soloist that is part of a larger piece.”
DESCRIPTION: Kyan’s primary attack; The Cavatina Buster is a simple, yet discordant melody that emanates from the tips of Kyan’s fingers in the form of a crushing compressional wave. Through the use of her witch staff and other external equipment (e.g. sound machines, speakers, microphones), Kyan can amplify and manipulate the harshness/frequency of her spell. Siren’s Song is her nickname for the Cavatina Buster attack when it is accompanied by her artificial noise machines.
RANGE: Varies. The attack is most devastating in areas where sound is easily reflected or focused (e.g. cities, tunnels, auditoriums, rooms without carpet) and least effective on wide, barren/open terrains and in areas where sound is absorbed. Note: The intensity of the Cavatina Buster decreases with distance from the source. EFFECT: Varies; Additional effects depend on the sensitivity of the individual. Nausea, ringing ears, and/or sore muscles are the most common effects experienced by people who have been exposed to the Cavatina Buster.
History: In her earliest stages of development, Kyan was one of many daimon eggs abandoned to be incubated by stellar radiation in a large communal nest. These communal piles allowed native daimons of the Tau Nebula to quickly incubate eggs and efficiently sort newly-hatched individuals based on societal use. Soon after Kyan hatched, a privileged servant of the so-called Death Busters snatched her up and brought her back to the organization’s main establishment where she was then placed into a rigorous training regime. Such an incident was not uncommon on Tau; the Death Busters frequently sent their minions through the fields of abandoned eggs in search of successful female hatchlings. These newly-hatched females were then collected and raised into a special army of witches with the sole purpose of serving the entity and power source of all daimons Master Pharaoh 90.
Like any lonely young creature fueled with the desire to have purpose, Kyan willingly accepted her position as a witch-in-training and worked toward her first assignment to perfect an outward humanoid form, even though most of her mentors treated her and the rest of the army like fodder. Their distance did not bother her; as a child, her attention was often distracted by unfamiliar noises and the warming radiation given off by stars. Because young Kyan seemed most responsive to vibrational disturbances, her superiors decided to unlock her full potential by training her in spells utilizing sound and wave properties.
Upon reaching adulthood, Kyan graduated from her training as a level 94 witch and pledged full allegiance to the Death Busters and their mission to expand the growing nebula to Earth. As the nebula slowly expanded outward, Kyan and several other Tau beings managed to access the Earth when a wormhole temporarily opened up and allowed contact between separate dimensions. Those who successfully escaped the tunnel before it closed off received special instructions to transport, implant, and hatch daimon eggs while collecting human souls and establishing a presence throughout Earth. As the surviving daimons came in contact with the Earth's atmosphere, they dispersed to various locations throughout the world. As Kyan reached Earth's atmosphere, the last event she remembered before blacking out was gracelessly falling toward a beautiful, snow-covered city.
When Kyan later woke up, she found herself lying on an elevated surface with a blanket covering her body and several Russian men in long white lab coats staring at her in confusion. Apparently they found her –their newly hired researcher– unconscious on the steps of their institute in Moscow, dressed inappropriately for the weather. As the daimon humanoid became fully cognizant, her entire body reverberated with the unfamiliar sounds of the Earth. Overwhelmed by all of the noise, she clasped her hands over her ears and looked away shyly from the strange humans. Despite the unusual circumstances, a tall dark-haired man with rectangular glasses eagerly helped her up from the table and introduced himself as lead physicist Sergei Asimov. As the reverable scientist welcomed her to his team, Kyan could not help but gaze at him in awe; she could not believe the unusually pleasant hum emitted by the man’s soul. Then she remembered the Death Busters’ proposed invasion. Human souls were still needed for Master Pharaoh 90…
Under the alias Anya Katayeva, Kyan worked with the team of Russian scientists investigating the String Theory and theoretical existence of other dimensions. As part of her proposed research, she convinced her colleagues to help fund a project to build devices which she claimed theoretically capable of contacting inter-dimensional beings through the use of sound waves. She was determined that if a matching frequency could be obtained by exploiting the tones of human souls, then she could secretly introduce native daimon eggs to Earth while appeasing her humans with “progress” in their research. Using her knowledge of wave mechanics, Kyan built three noise machine prototypes which she proudly named PIEZO XL after their ability to utilize and store heart crystals.
Almost immediately after the final production of the devices, Russian physicist Sergei Asimov eagerly invited several of his colleagues to travel with him to Japan for a research seminar at the elite academy known as Mugen. There they would spend several months exchanging information and collaborating with representatives from around the world. Upon arrival to Mugen Academy, Kyan immediately sensed a strong presence of the signature daimon frequency in the surrounding area. With no way to return home until Tau’s expansion or the appearance of another worm hole, Kyan wished to remain in Tokyo under the assumption that the unusually dense population of daimons reflected the official starting point of the Death Buster’s Earth invasion.
Luckily, Sergei’s team received permission to leave a few of its members behind to help run the current research project. Kyan was one of four researchers chosen by Sergei to stay at Mugen Academy. Sergei promised his team that he would return to Mugen at a later date to give a presentation on his groundbreaking theory after he finalized publishing arrangements for his scientific journal article. Since Sergei’s departure Kyan has remained under the radar, working at the academy as a guest physicist and quietly seeking out souls to power her machines as she awaits further instruction from the Tau Nebula.
Other noteworthy facts: Design notes: Kyan’s dress design and hair based is based on the common fibrous, splayed habit of the mineral for which she is named, and the hue of her hair/eyes reflect the mineral’s most common color. She also loosely reflects the form of a traditional Russian dancer. Gait: When she walks, she takes small light steps. She must be careful, for if she walks too fast she might trip herself. Languages: Kyan can speak Russian and Japanese fluently. When she does not understand another language, she interprets the meaning through subtle changes in the speaker's intonation and body language. Note: Humans who speak a language other than Russian or Japanese are more likely to be taken less seriously by Kyan. She would find their attempts to express themselves adorable. Preferred fighting style: Long-ranged, magic, defensive Favorite stones: kyanite (naturally), quartz because of the hum its molecules give off Additional Likes:crystal healing, crystal glass, shoes, dresses, stars, incense, tea, mors, music Additional Dislikes: grimy clothes, cacophony, cats, dogs, and other domesticated animals (they do not react to her like they would a human), children, commotions

Spoiler:
Username: Sailor Anya Class: Mage Element: Energy Appearance:
Kyan's in-game avatar Sailor Anya looks exactly like her humanoid form, but with different clothing. Sailor Anya wears a sleeveless, open, yellow fantasy tunic that is held in place by a dark blue waist band and by the bow of her sailor collar. Both her sailor collar and bow are patternless with a dark blue color. However, a small red star adorns the center of her bow. On her arms she wears dark blue detached sleeves bearing three yellow bands. Her boots are knee high and match her sleeves. Underneath the open tunic, she wears a short, gathered white skirt. Additional appearance notes: -The holster for her wand is attached to the back of the dark blue band at her waist. -Her hooded cape is dark blue on the outside and red on the inside. -Her hair bun is held in place by a dark blue ribbon. The center of the ribbon has a yellow star.
-This is how her avatar may have appeared in the game before the Nerve Gear altered her image to reflect her real life appearance.
RP Sample:
…Kyan’s deep blue eyes shifted focus onto the group of men in business suits, her ‘colleagues’ who had stopped in front of a glass cabinet to admire the display of organic molecules crafted by students in the academy’s science club. ‘Look at all of these humans going about their mundane tasks as if they had purpose, and yet they completely ignore the song radiating from their souls--the song governing their inner peace and harmony! I can’t believe it! How ignorantly adorable can they be!?’
A small smirk formed in the corner of her lips. This was all too amusing. In the end, human existence was an infinitesimal spec in an endless sea of stars. What did it even matter to the universe if the Death Busters mercilessly wiped the entire human race from this pitiful planet Earth to make room for their master? Kyan clasped her hands together and nearly squealed at the thought of complete destruction and darkness. The stars--the beautiful stars--would once again shimmer brightly upon this desolate earth! The light gasp that did manage to escape her pursed lips caught the attention of her colleagues.
“Anya!” the tallest of the Russian men called out, raising a concerned brow when he realized his female colleague’s lack of interest in the models. “Is something wrong? You’ve been facing that wall for at least ten minutes now!”
“Miss Katayeva probably can’t hear you.” Another man shrugged pointing to the pair of white headphones resting snugly over the woman’s ears. “She’s always got those headphones on, remember?”
“…Anya!” The tall man’s voice grew impatient when she did not respond. “Anya! Can you even hear me!? Take off those damned headphones!” Just then he reached outward to rip the headphones away from the blue-haired woman’s head, but was surprised when she caught him by the wrist from behind. Kyan’s pupils dilated and her nails began to dig into the man’s flesh, but she quickly pulled herself together and let go of his arm. A brief apology seemed to calm the tension in the room, but it did not erase the tinge of shock in the man’s eyes as he awaited her explanation.
“Oh, I--I was just thinking about our presentations, dear!” Kyan lied, laughing nervously as she tried so hard not to clasp her slender fingers tightly around her colleague’s throat for even considering the idea of snatching her headphones. “Do I leave room at the end for questions? What if--what if students ask me something that I cannot answer?” Kyan’s right hand crept closer to the man’s neck until it was resting on his shoulder.
“Um…” To avoid eye contact with the strange, temperamental woman, the tall Russian man looked down at his wrist where two small drops of blood began to pool. He let out an uncomfortable cough when the tips of her long black nails tickled his jugular. “…There is nothing to worry about!” he replied abruptly, “You’ll do fine! Just remember not to put your headphones on or else they might get up and leave on you mid-presentation!” He gently brushed her hand away and then rejoined his male colleagues who only moments ago stood there watching the pair in silence. When the other men finally turned away and chuckled at the joke about the headphones, Kyan gnashed her teeth together in rage.
“If you knew how dissonant your voice sounded, you too would want to mute it out as best as you could! Just leave me alone already!” she hissed harshly below her breath, crossing her arms and staring them down with a chilling glare.
“…Ah, don’t take it personally, Yuriy. She’s the only woman on our team at the moment. I’m sure she’s just acting like this for attention because she feels entitled to her position. Everything will be fine.”

No problem! I have been keeping quite busy myself! Thanks for checking everything over!
Appearance: Why, yes! I did draw that picture. I haven't had much time recently, but I do plan to finish the drawing and add in the weapons. I also commissioned somebody with a cute style to draw a chibi. If she does not mind, I will probably use it in Kyan's RP banner.
History: Thanks! I couldn't come up with a fitting Japanese alias that played off of her name as well as the Russian one, but I also didn't want her to have a Russian alias without a reason. Luckily, I remembered Mr. One-episode-scientific-wonder Sergei Asimov.
