She looked at his offered hand momentarily, before extending her own and grasping it tight. She didn’t know why, but she felt safer already. As if she’d be having a lifeline. Less of a chance to fall.

“’B’ certainly seems like the more plausible choice, though I wouldn’t rule out ‘W’. For all we know, it might be in some kind of ancient language or something. But, we shall try the ‘B’ first.”

Squeezing his hand once both to reassure herself and to let him know that she was ready, Titania stepped forward diagonally to the right, first with one foot, and when it didn’t give way, with the other. She doubted the trap would be sprung if she didn’t put her full weight on it anyway, but after a few seconds of nervous twitching, waiting for the floor to disappear beneath her, nothing happened. She could hear her heartbeat loudly in her ears, her every nerve standing on end, her entire body on full alert like it’d never been before. So this was how it felt to tempt death.

A part of her liked it, even as she knew it was stupid and arrogant.

“Well. It looks like you’re onto something,” she turned back and smiled mischievously at him, the hint of sincerity clear in her eyes.

Looking back at the tiles before her, she found that she was facing T, K, E, and P right beside her. “It stands to reason that the next letter is another vowel if it were to form a word.”

She waited on his input instead of just marching ahead as she normally would.

Somehow, for a small moment in time, Oberon thought she would refuse his hand. He thought she would finally laugh in his face at the opening he gave her into his life, his forming trust, but she did none of it, finally placing her hand in his.

It was warm, he found, to held someone else's fingers.

Or was it that he was cold? He couldn't say. Though many neighbors knew of him, he had lived mostly with his parents, knowing adults more than he knew faes his own age.

It gave him power to receive her trust. And that he had never felt before.

Unknowingly to them both, his hearbeat synchronized with hers in his own worry. Logically speaking, he was strong enough to held her, but would it be the same if she fell? Would the momentum be too much for him?

Her smile almost made him dizzy with relief and he chuckled with humor.
This puzzle, if life-threatening, was also thrilling in a whole new way. He was determined to see it to the end.

Without the girl... Titania... losing her life in the process.

"You also have a point. The word could be foreign, and some languages do not use vowels after a consonant, or at all." He hadn't thought of that, but he wouldn't admit it. "What do you think?" He asked, also accepting to not control everything; an offer to work as a team, to solve this puzzle together.

Unconsciously, he was telling her that her opinion was worth something for him.
