Character Name: Ami Mizuno
Gender: Female
Age and Date of Birth: 20 / September 10th
Used Canons: 90s Anime & Big Hero 6
Appearance: Ami is typically identified by her short, blue hair. Her big, knowledgeable eyes match her hair, and her skin is the color of porcelain. One of the shorter members of her group of friends, Ami stands at a small 5'2". Her hair parts at the left side of her head, and only reaches the middle of her neck. When not wearing her lab coat, Ami maintains a practical, modest sense of fashion. She likes to wear crisp blouses and cute vests, along with pencil skirts and sophisticated pants. She tends to suit more for comfort than for style when it comes to shoes, and typically chooses regular tennis shoes over the hottest pair of boots. She also wears small, blue studs on her ears 24/7. Occasionally, she will wear wire-rimmed glasses to assist her with reading and studying.
Personality: Known for her extreme intelligence and maturity, Ami tends to be very anti-social and introverted. She would rather work alone than with a group, study silently instead of read aloud, etc. etc. She likes large, quiet areas, and tends to stay away from crowds. A lover of books and the beauty of knowledge, she spends most of her free time studying or reading. Adjusting to new people and large crowds is difficult for her, and she has trouble trusting others. A patient girl, Ami is a fantastic friend, and will never let her friends down when they need her. She is very selfless, and is constantly putting the needs of others before herself. Because of this, she has a tendency to forget about her own happiness along the way. She longs to satisfy others, especially her mother. Ami is very good at coming up with strategies and staying calm in stressful situations. Handling pressure is easy for her, and she doesn't get nervous when required to speak in front of a crowd. If it means furthering her education, Ami will do it flawlessly. She dreams of becoming a world-renowned chemist. She fears large crowds and doesn't really believe in relationships. She tends to stay away from those who may hurt her, men being at the top of that list. Despite Ami's mature, sophisticated aura, she is secretly a typical fangirl. She reads fanfiction, romance novels, listens to the popular Japanese boybands, etc. She just isn't very vocal about her secret fetishes. Since meeting Usagi and the other girls at the lab, Ami has come out of her shy, insecure shell and allowed herself to open up more to other people. Her IQ and analysis skills are off the charts, and she uses all of these skills on a daily basis, whether as a student or as a hero.
Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Ami is very skilled with computers, and most other forms of technology. She also happens to be very good at chess, and is a very advanced swimmer. Although talented in many ways, Ami is most-known for her IQ of 300 and her indescribable intelligence. Most of all, though, Ami is ridiculously talented in the art of chemistry. She has every single element in the periodic table memorized down to a point, and she can do things with chemicals that most people couldn't even dream of doing.
History: Ami grew up with her mother in their modest home. When she was little, her parents divorced and her father left to pursue his art career. Ami's mother was a surgeon at a local hospital, and so she was never home much for Ami to really spend much quality time with her. This is the main reason behind Ami's shyness and independence, since she spent most of her childhood on her own and taking care of herself. She went through school always with the highest grades, reaching the top of her class effortlessly. Studying was her life, and her goal for a long time was to become a doctor like her mother. After all, that was all she had ever known. But when Ami entered college, she found her true calling: chemistry. Thanks to Professor Beryl, Ami discovered that she really had a deep love for chemistry and everything about it. She had always been great at chemistry in high school, but the though of pursuing it as an actual career never really crossed Ami's mind until meeting Beryl. Thanks to Beryl's prodding and insisting, Ami entered Beryl's advanced program and began to deeply study chemistry and everything she could do with it. In no time at all, Ami began to create astounding inventions with her chemistry prowess. She met Usagi and the others not long after joining the program, and they all became fast friends. It was strange for Ami to have friends after such a long time of being on her own, but she enjoyed it nonetheless.
Other Noteworthy Facts: Ami's blood type is A, and she is a Virgo. Her favorite color is blue, and her favorite food is sandwiches. She is also fond of her birthstone, a sapphire, and takes a particular liking for water lillies.
Storyline Specific Information: [Relaxed] Immortals - The film is set in a fictional futuristic hybrid metropolis called San Fransokyo (a portmanteau of San Francisco and Tokyo).
Hiro Hamada "Chibi-Usa" Tsukino is a young genius and robotics expert who spends her time participating in back alley robot fights. Her older
brother sister
Tadashi Usagi, worried that Chibi-Usa is wasting her potential, takes Chibi-Usa to the robotics lab at her school--the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. There, Chibs meets Usagi's closest friends:
Go Go Tomago Rei Hino,
Wasabi Makoto Kino,
Honey Lemon Ami Mizuno, and
Fred Minako Aino as well as
Baymax LU-NA (a personal healthcare search-and-rescue robot Usagi created). Chibs also meets Professor
Robert Callaghan Rita Beryl, the head of the robotics program. Amazed by the students' projects, Chibi-Usa decides to enroll in the school. With help from Usagi and her friends, Chibi-Usa designs her own robotics project in order to gain a personal invitation via an annual exhibition. Her invention, Microbots (a type of nanorobotics which she can control telepathically through a neural-cranial transmitter with black cat ears), impresses Beryl, who offers Chibs an invitation to the school. Her project also impresses Alistair Kunzite (owner of the prestigious robotics company Kunz Tech). Kunzite offers to buy Chib's microbots, but Beryl successfully convinces Chibs not to make the deal. As they leave to celebrate Chibi-Usa's success, a fire suddenly breaks out in the exhibition hall. Usagi rushes in to rescue Beryl, but the building explodes and kills Usagi and apparently Beryl (off-screen). As a result of losing her sister and best friend, Chibi-Usa shuts herself away in her room and isolates herself from others for two weeks. One day, Chibi-Usa accidentally activates LU-NA, who responded to Chibi-Usa's cry of pain. As Chibi-Usa attempts to deactivate LUNA, she discovers a single microbot that was left in her jacket. Chibs believes its movement is due to a malfunction, but LUNA believes it is trying to go somewhere. LUNA follows the microbot to an abandoned warehouse just as Chibi-Usa catches up. There, they discover that someone has been mass producing Chibi-Usa's microbots before they are attacked by a masked woman controlling the microbots telepathically. Realizing this woman has stolen her project, Chibi-Usa decides to catch her and upgrades LUNA with battle armor and various fighting moves. Following their single microbot again, they find the masked woman at the harbor and attempt to pull a surprise attack, but are unable to when Rei, Makoto, Ami, and Mina arrive in a car (because LUNA had contacted them earlier, thinking that a great way to help Chibi-Usa was to contact his friends). The masked woman attacks them as they flee in the car. Later on, at Chibi-Usa's begging and pleading, Ami and the other girls decide to take on superhero qualities to help Chibi-Usa track down the woman who stole her project and solve the mystery behind the fire that killed Usagi. Ami, who was left heartbroken and devastated by the death of her first real friend, didn't think that fighting and violence was the answer to their problem. But she felt like she owed it to Usagi to help Chibi-Usa, and so Ami joined the others in becoming heroes. Her abilities with chemistry allowed her to develop a special weapon that would easily enable her to activate any kind of chemical she needed to create any reaction she desired. With the weapon on her hip, Ami became one of the six heroes of San Fransokyo.
Source: Most of the SSI is taken from the Immortals plot summary. Personality, appearance, unique abilities/skills, and noteworthy facts are taken from my canon Ami profile.
Hero Costume: Ami's costume is made of a tight blue hoodie with white lining and skinny black jeans. She wears black leather boots and a translucent blue visor over her eyes. A black belt with a small compartment hanging on the side of her waist accessorizes the outfit, along with a pair of blue stud earrings. The material is waterproof and thermoregulated.
Weapon(s): Ami's main weapon is a mini computer attached to a small compartment that hangs off her waist. Using the computer, Ami can choose any elements of the periodic table and send those choices to the compartment on her waist. On the belt connected to the compartment are small, empty capsules made from a polyethylene shell. These capsules pass into the compartment, which then injects the capsules with whatever chemical Ami chose with her computer.
RP Sample: The devastating news of Usagi's death left Ami in a worthless mess of tears and emptiness. She just didn't understand. Why did it have to be Usagi? Why did the most pure-hearted, selfless individual have to be the one who lost her life so soon?
Why did Ami have to lose one of the few friends she had?
Usagi had filled the hole in Ami's heart that she had her entire life. And now that Usagi was gone, that hole was empty again. She knew she had to stay strong for her friends and for Chibi-Usa especially, but when Ami got back to her home, she always broke down.
No matter how hard she tried, Ami would never truly be able to let Usagi go.
