Chill autumn wind blew through the streets of the shopping district, sending a few early fallen leaves swirling around corners. The brightly-coloured shop lights glowed cheerfully, but no figures stood before them. The streets seemed deserted and calm. A tension hovered in the air, not unpleasant, but gradually building.

A faint glimmer punctuated the darkness. It slowly coalesced and brightened slightly, forming the shape of a tall and stately woman, her long hair billowing around her. Her body remained transparent and somewhat vague in nature, yet there was nothing sinister or alarming about her presence. She passed into the shop without opening the door.

Dark eyes, as deep as space, focused on the ancient crone. Her request was unspoken, silently gesturing to three distinct items.

The words had not been said, yet they were heard. Her hand reached out, ready to tip points into the willing palm of the old one.
