We've all seen photos of famous places around Japan, but here are a few from my personal collection. Some are places that are well known, others are a bit off the beaten path, and some... they're just a bit odd.
Be forewarned, this is an image heavy post!
Food:
回転寿司 (Kaitenzushi) - Conveyor Belt Sushi I know I don't eat sushi, but I couldn't resist going! Totally worth it to watch the little dishes make their way around the restaurant.
屋台 (Yatai) - Food Stalls at a Cherry Blossom Festival
Udon
Bento eaten on a bus tour.
More udon
Castles:
名古屋城 - Nagoya Castle
彦根城 - Hikone Castle
大阪城 - Osaka Castle
Temples and Shrines:
仁和寺 (Ninnaji Temple) in Kyoto
浅草 - Asakusa Temple in Tokyo
伊勢神宮 (Ise Shrine) - A bridge at Ise Shrine. People are supposed to only walk to the right or left of the line, as the middle is reserved for the gods.
伏見稲荷大社 (Fushimi Inari Taisha) - my favourite shrine in Japan! Made of thousands of toori.
Wish boards at 熱田神宮 (Atsuta Jingu) in Nagoya.
Giant Toori in Kyoto
金閣寺 (Kinkakuji) - Golden Pavilion in Kyoto
Barrels of sake at the 明治神宮 (Meiji Shrine)
A shrine in 日光 (Nikko)
A pagoda in cherry blossom season
Cleansing station outside of a shrine. You need to wash both your hands, and your mouth with the water.
Nature:
Obara - One of the only places in Japan when you can see cherry blossoms and fall foliage at the same time.
丸山 (Maruyama) - a park famous for its old cherry blossom tree.
嵐山 (Arashiyama) - a famous bamboo forest in Kyoto.
Mountains in Gifu Prefecture
Waterfall in Nikko
白川郷 (Shirakawago) - a world heritage site with thatched roofed houses
Around Town:
Koban - a stereotypical Japanese police box
A building to commemorate the famous poet, 松尾芭蕉 (Matsuo Bashō)
Super cute manhole cover in Iga! Many Japanese cities have decorated manhole covers like these.
The dog clothing store.
A very cool Alice in Wonderland themed jewellry and candy shop.
馬篭 (Magome) - A traditional Japanese town
The Nagoya Science Center and Planetarium. It looks like a death star.
大須観音 (Osu Kanon) - Shopping area in Nagoya
渋谷 - Shibuya
東京 - Tokyo from Roppongi Hills
Miscellaneous:
People dressed up as fish at a cherry blossom festival.
Dressed up as a Maiko in Kyoto. A really cool experience!
A traditional style Japanese room looking out onto a garden.
Marriage rocks
A hot spring in Gero
A Pikachu car
Ninja washrooms
A man walking his cat in the park while others are doing hanami
What photos of Japan do you like? Are there any in particular that you'd like to see? Share away!

The tree that's there now is a second generation tree, that was planted in 1949, however, the first generation of the tree was alive for about 200 years. They say that the one there is fading now, but the son of the man who transplanted the seeds from the first generation tree is trying to take care of it now!

I've never seen it myself, but apparently the oldest one is the Jindai Sakura, which is at the Jindai Temple in Yamanashi. It's said to be 1800 - 2000 years old, and planted by the 12th emperor.
Here's a photo of it I found on Google:

That cherry blossom tree photo was beautiful. I love all the photos actually. xD I would love to go and visit the shrines and historic sites of Japan.

I love cherry blossoms. All of these were just so pretty! The first food pic of the all you can eat sushi is the place I saw in a youtube video about Japan once!

Really? Do you know what video? Just curious since it's my photo, haha. I did make a video for my blog though about Kaitenzushi!

My favorite picture was the one of Tokyo as seen from Roppongi Hills. To me, it's just so neat to look down on a city like that.
I have a question about that picture of the police box. I noticed there seemed to be a little upstairs room there (because of those windows above). Is that a small room where the police officer(s) stay when they're on duty but not needed on a call at the moment, or what?

Here it is. ^^ If you jump to around 6:30 you can see the style of bowl they use on the conveyor. It looks so similar to me.
Even the image for this video looks a bit like your photo. Unless there are a lot of places that look the same and use the same colored bowl scheme?

I'm not actually sure! It's probably either a place to rest, or just more office space. As you can see, the building itself isn't very big, and Japan really loves its paperwork, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was an office / storage space.

Ooh, it's probably a similar restaurant, there's a chain of them in Japan, and a lot of the kaitenzushi places in general. This is my video:

I did a grant project in 8th grade, and for the project I wanted to travel to China and Japan. I listed the Golden Pavilion as one of the destinations I would travel to. All of these images look both beautiful and awesome and it really only furthers my desire to go to Japan xD

We have a lot of sushi conveyor belt restaurants here xD They all look alike. I didn't realize they're not as common in other places.
So many pretty pictures, I definitely want to go back <3 (And I finally figured out what the water thing in front of the shrine is and the sake barrels xD I saw them in a temple in Kyoto but had no idea what they were for along with some small papers hung in a board which I figured were probably prayers?) And that untouched temple grounds reminds me of a miniature Japanese garden decoration we had once where we could rake the sand just like that xD
