Appearance: Kunzite is the tallest among the four Shitennou, beyond the six feet, and has a muscular build. He has a lot of endurance, but his strength is greater. He has long white hair that stops just bellow the shoulders, a serious face, stoic (or unreadable) features and small pale gray eyes. He is known to frown a lot. He has a pale complexion in the manga and crystal, but they gave him a darker one in the anime only.

Manga/anime
When he was protecting the Prince Endymion, at a time where the Silver Millenium had not yet been destroyed, Kuzite wore a different uniform than the one he wears under Beryl's brainwashing. He had a white jacket with golden borders, black pants, knee-high boots of metal, one brown leather belt at the level of his waist and two others crisscrossing at the level of his hips. His sheath was on the second belt and had a green gem embedded in its handle. His cape was brown on the outside and dark blue on the inside.

During the Dark Kingdom arc, he wore a dark purple/indigo military uniform with pale blue trim he never buttoned entirely with black boots and a cape white on the outside and blue on the inside. He has epaulets with a blue gem embedded in it with dark gray bud earrings.

Crystal
When protecting the Prince Endymion, Kunzite wears a pale blue uniform with a darker blue trim and like each of the Shitennou this time, he wears a cape white in the outside and red in the inside fastened by epaulets that have green gems embedded in them. He wears a belt at waist level and two crisscrossed at hips level where is fasted his sheath.  He wears dark metal boots.

During the Dark Kingdom arc, he wore a white military uniform with a royal blue trim. He still doesn't button his jacket all the way up and the inside of it is of a paler blue that the trim. He is also the only one to wear a white cape. He has a single black belt around his waist. His eyes glow red when under the brainwashing spell and he wears diamond shaped earrings made of metal.
Personality: At first glance, Kunzite might appear aloof and cold. His presence inspires respect and he is quite imposing, not smiling much and usually keeping to himself. When he speaks, it is generally to say something that was needed, to correct a point or to ask a pertinent question. He is reserved, silent and calm, keeping a lot of information about himself unknown. It's not that he wishes it a secret if it's found, well it's found, but he's not really fond of sharing unnecessary details about his life. He is hard to relate to, hard to read and hard to understand for he keeps his emotions tightly under control. He doesn't feel more or less than any other being, he just knows how to keep a straight face and how to master his emotions. He will, however, express his disagreement when he deems it constructive or needed (he won't keep himself from telling his Shitennou they made a mistake) and if someone is able to get under his skin well enough, his anger is usually frightening.

He is very serious, not much one for chitchat, but with friends, he can open up more. This usually happens more around Endymion with whom he is the most comfortable, but also to whom he is a confidant. He will however participate in a conversation in which he sees close to no interest when it is asked by the etiquette or when it comes from a higher ranked person. He is strict, keeping the men under his command on their toes and alert. He work well under pressure, he remains calm even in the worst situations and he can handle multiple problems at the same time (though he really prefers when that doesn't happen).

Despite his leadership and despite his seriousness, he can get cocky and slightly mocking towards other, sometimes warningly, sometimes without genuine caring. His humor is generally dry or sarcastic. He is confident in himself, critical towards others, practical in most situations (when it comes to emotions it tends to go in all the ways he's trying not to go), he is determined enough to get things done as quick as possible and he can be very driven, rarely single-mindedly.

Kunzite is a very loyal man that tends to take the weight of the world on his shoulders. Though his guilt can quickly become too much, he usually doesn't let it affect his work, his missions, his duty or his mood during any public event. Those are generally thoughts he will deal with by himself instead of sharing as he prefers to live in the moment instead of being unbalanced by things he cannot change. He is protective towards those close to him, he feels like they depend on him and he can be self-sacrificing for the sake of his prince. He will carry a guilt for a long period of time, but he will not generally show that it is still present in him. He will encourage his younger counterpart when the need arises and he is not totally devoid of empathy towards their personal struggle.

The brainwashing made him crueler, almost unable to feel any regret and mostly single-mindedly driven to the task given. It doesn't keep him from actually feeling emotions, but the way he would express them differs a lot than how he would in another situation. Where he could use manipulation as protection of his friends and prince, under Beryl's rule he became downright manipulative, even towards his own partner (as seen with the number of times Kunzite roused Zoisite's mood to get what he wanted - anger wise speaking).
Any Unique Abilities/Skills:

• Teleportation: He can go from one place to another in a short amount of time.
  
• "Flight": He can float above the ground, but there is no wings involved.
  
• Forcefield: He can protect himself with a green shield that envelopes him completely.
  
• Shield/Barrier: He can block attacks using a green or black barrier.
  
• Dome: He uses a black semi-translucent dome that traps his enemies inside and that shrinks on itself slowly. It drains people's energy and it can be lethal.
  
• Ice Manipulation: He can envelop targets (from someone to a whole town) in ice.
  
• Energy Manipulation: He can create a sphere of energy (he could shape it how he wishes, but it's usually sphere) and throw it at an enemy.
  
• Attack Reflection: An attack that is launched is way can be thrown back to his adversary.
  
• Enhanced Physique: He is stronger than what is natural for a human.
  
• Astral projection: When vanquished and back in the form of a stone, Kunzite's spirit can communicate with Endymion (and probably the other Shitennou).
  
• Illusion: Though he usually doesn't use it as an offensive attack, Kunzite can create illusions around someone else and/or himself.
  
• Youma: Kunzite can create and control monsters under the influence of the Dark Kingdom's powers.
  
• Weapon: Kunzite usually uses short curved blades as weaponry, though he is known to be able to use the sword and the spear.
  

History:
Kunzite was born in the Golden Kingdom and sent to the castle to be one of the four boys that would be the prince's guardians. They grew up together in a correct harmony, working for the kingdom and Endymion. Kunzite thought the worst that would ever really happen would be Nephrite and Jadeite's shenanigans, any enemy of the Kingdom that was stupid enough to try something or even the prince getting in and out when he so wanted to, but one day, Endymion met the love of his life and things went down hill.

Kunzite never saw Beryl coming until way after when he died. He was brainwashed by her, fought for her against the Moon Kingdom, died for her and basically for nothing as his prince died also. He was reincarnated, but before he could actually get his memories back, Beryl found him again and brainwashed him.

Manga
He warned Zoisite about not ending up like Nephrite and was left alone when in the end the other Shitennou that had survived until there was killed by Venus. He confronted the Sailor Senshi, even able to mortally wound Tuxedo Kamen. The light of the Silver Crystal (activated by Sailor Moon's tears) restored Kunzite's memories in time for him to go back and resurrect him fallen brothers. They lived to remember their past lives, then return in the form of stones. When Kunzite confronted Beryl about Endymion, she brainwashed him again and sent him to gather more energy for their great ruler. While he is attacking the city, Sailor Moon is the one to first intercept him and he tries to bargain with her: in exchange for the Silver Crystal, he will give her Endymion's body. The Sailor interrupted their conversation, however, killing him with a grouped attack. He reverted into a stone at Beryl's feet and was given to brainwashed Endymion with the other stone as a gift.

He later came back (still as a stone) as an advisor to Endymion, helping him during the many obstacles they encounter.

Crystal
Kunzite joined the Shitennou not too long after Nephrite and Jadeite's failures. He introduced himself with them when Sailor Moon is able to chase Nephrite's shadow from the mortal world's princess. His goal was, like all of them, to get the Silver Crystal and kill Sailor Moon. He later on mocked Tuxedo Kamen's plan, knowing that they could use it against them. During one of their interactions with the Sailor Soldiers, Kunzite took a shot at Sailor Moon trying to kill her, but Tuxedo Kamen protected her, which somewhat killed him. He brought him back to the Dark Kingdom and one by one, the Shitennou were starting to feel something familiar from the man he had brought back. Following Beryl in the deepest places of their Kingdom, he discovered their ruler and like his friends retrieved his memories for a short time before being brainwashed again. He then went out almost on a rampage, freezing everything over so it would attract the princess' attention. After a fight where Venus tried to bring him to remember his past life, he went back to the Dark Kingdom and welcomed the Sailor when they finally found the entrance. He battled against them for a short while before the memories started coming back again.

Kunzite was then killed by Metallia just as he was regaining his senses and real memories.

Anime
Kunzite arrived way after Nephrite's death, while Zoisite was trying to get all of the crystals for Beryl. He was mostly there as a way to get Zoisite to get a hold on himself - which clearly never was easy - and really intervened when Zoisite and he planned a trap for Tuxedo Kamen. Zoisite disguised himself as Sailor Moon and Kunzite helped tie him up. When Zoisite could deal with the masked man, Kunzite handled instead the Sailor Soldiers who had found their way to them. He was almost about to be rid of them when Sailor Venus appeared, forcing them to retreat. Later, Kunzite teamed up again with Zoisite, having been ordered by Beryl not to hurt Endymion. He roused Zoisite's anger, which leaded him to try and kill Tuxedo Kamen. It resulted in their Queen's anger and he had no choice but to watch her kill his lover before his eyes. He granted Zoisite last wish, casting an illusion around them so his partner wouldn't die surrounded by the dark scenery of their Kingdom.

He died later on, after his attack against Sailor Moon backfired, praying for Zoisite to meet him on the other side.
