Character Name: Luna

Gender: Female Mauian

Age and Date of Birth: Unknown in canon, but she is an adult feline
Used Canons: I am primarily drawing from the original anime and Crystal, with some manga inspiration. I'm going for a more serious Luna so I am really not adopting much from PGSM and Myu, though I am familiar with it.

Appearance: She is a black feline with blue eyes and the mark of a golden crescent in the middle of her forehead. She is average in size for a cat, coming up shorter than a person's knees and certainly small enough to sit atop someone's shoulder. She has a feminine grace to her movements that reveal her gender as a female cat.

IN times of crisis or under the power of the silver crystal, she can assume human form for a brief time. In her human guise, Luna wears a bright yellow dress with a black underskirt layer. She wear a moon pendant and a yellow bow on her beck. Her hair is black, wavy, and voluminous with two small odangoes at the top. She still sports the crescent moon on her forehead.


Personality: Luna can be extremely serious and mission driven. She is a bit bossy at times but for the best interests of those she cares about. On the few occasions where her feelings waver from the mission, for example falling in love with a human astronomer, she will hide her own feelings as much as possible and sacrifice her own desires for that of the team, however much it might fill her with regret. She has a bit of a nanny personality, wanting to make sure homework is done, senshi training is done, and everything is in place just so. But it is no wonder as she primarily lives and works with teenagers. She does not consider herself brave and is often frustrated with her inability to help those around her, however she will risk her life to save them if given the opportunity. While generally Luna acts and talks like a human, cat behaviors do surface from time to time such as enjoying milk and loving to be stroked on the head and around her ears.

Her relationship with Usagi is an interesting one. On the one hand, Luna seems to constantly be exasperated by the girl's teenage hijinks and short comings, and often makes disparaging remarks about leaving teenage Usagi in charge of anything. However when the pressure is on, Luna has an immense amount of faith in her, though she may not say it.

Luna is a worrier and often Artemis fills the role in soothing her worries and boosting her confidence. Although she often chides him for not being serious enough. But occasionally the shoe falls on the other foot. Luna has an immense amount of faith in the silver crystal and can often be seen praying in times of crisis, either in the prayer room on the Moon or elsewhere. That faith is something Artemis is in awe of at times.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills: The crescent mark on her forehead enables her to recognize members of the Moon Kingdom and also to faintly read energy auras of people who have any sort of power beyond the normal human. This enables her sometimes to sniff out senshi or enemies but it is not an exact science. It comes to her more like a hunch, or simply a feeling that there is something different about a certain person. Luna also has the ability to materialize certain objects from the Moon Kingdom such as transformation items, likely from some sort of subspace pocket. Oddly enough, when Luna and the senshi are reborn, Luna always seems to return with more of her memories intact than the senshi. This may also be due to the crescent mark and the powers endowed to her by the queen. Lastly, while affected by enough energy from the silver crystal, she can take on a human form for short times.

History: Luna comes from a line of Mauian advisors. She formerly served the queen until she was charged with looking after the small princess Serenity, a task she takes extremely seriously and is often fearful that she may fail. She performed this duty up until the invasion of Beryl’s forces from Earth where her princess was killed and Luna, as well as everyone else were sent back to Earth to be born again. There her mission remained to find the princess by first finding Sailor Moon and awakening the other sailor scouts. This she did, though it was only thanks to Usagi herself removing a band aid that was plastered over the crescent, which enabled her to recognize the girl as who she was. Luna has been through many trials and tribulations with the girls, and continues to watch over them alongside Artemis, another Mauian assigned to Sailor Venus. Together in the future they bear a child named Diana who is guardian to Chibiusa. During the Crystal Tokyo time she watched over Neo-Queen Serenity until the Black Moon Clan attack where she and Artemis amongst most others were injured, though all was recovered and brought back to normal due to the efforts of the past Sailor Moon. Her job, through all of these lifetimes has never changed and probably will never change as long as Serenity lives.

Other Noteworthy Facts: Luna loves milk. human food, naps, and being stroked on the head. She especially likes this treatment from Ami Mizuno AKA Sailor Mercury and will often climb up on her shoulders or lap. She is rather testy about anyone messing with, or pulling on her tail.

RP Sample: Luna looked with wonder at the new blonde haired infant girl who was to be the new princess of the Moon kingdom. She had never seen anyone so small, yet delicate and beautiful. At first, Luna was afraid to go near the baby for fear of breaking or damaging her in some way, or doing something wrong. With some gentle nudging from the queen she finally gained the confidence to approach her. Almost instantly the small chubby arms reached out and seized on Luna’s tail. A cat’s tail is a very sensitive area, but Luna took a chance and sat patiently, letting the baby touch her. She didn’t pull on it, in fact the baby’s touch was surprisingly gentle. A light and airy tinkle of a laugh escaped the baby’s mouth as she snuggled Luna’s tail fur against her face, reveling in its softness. Her blue eyes met Luna’s and her heart instantly melted. From then on, she was practically inseparable from the baby. She took up station at the foot of her crib except for meal times. A few days later, she was summoned by the queen.
“Luna”, she said softly, giving the Mauian a gentle smile. “There is something I would like to ask you to do. It’s about the princess, my Serenity.”

Luna’s blue eyes widened, concerned that there may be something wrong. “Of course your highness, anything! Is something wrong?”

The queen responded, “No Luna, don’t be alarmed. Though I can see by your response that you have come to care for my daughter. That is why, I would like you to be her guardian, to protect and help raise her to be the princess and ruler she must someday be. Will you do that for me Luna?”

“Oh, I do care for her very much. I can already see she has your kind heart and….” The remainder if what the queen said registered and she stopped, mouth slightly agape. A guardian…to the princess? The task of guardian was probably the highest honor that could be bestowed on a Mauian, but it was a very large responsibility, one that Luna suddenly found she did not believe herself capable of. Her legs trembled down to her paws. Without realizing it she began to take a step back. “No, I cannot…There is no way I could fill those shoes. Perhaps someone stronger and smarter…maybe Artemis? I am not good enough to fulfil that assignment. I – I have so many shortcomings.” She took another step back, head cast down in embarrassment as she admitted to the doubt that laid within her heart.

“Luna” the queen called, rising from her chair to stoop down to the cat’s level. She put a hand atop Luna’s head and gently stroked behind her ears. “Do not put yourself down so. Don’t forget. I have seen what you are capable of and how loyal you are. You have been with me for many years already remember?” She spoke kindly and reassuringly. “You are more capable than you realize. Will you trust me and do your best?”

Her heart overflowed with emotion and a few tears flowed from the corners of her eyes along the edges of her whiskers. How could she deny such a request from one who held so much faith in one small cat? Her voice almost a whisper she answered: “It would be my greatest honor.”

Done! Sorry to take so long. ^^ Quick question. Do you need to add SSI for every story you are in, or only if things are different in some way? Because I am in Little Soldiers too. But as of this moment nothing is really different.

As for SSI, it is used if something differs from canon for the character, be it personality or plot wise. Since Little Soldiers tells of a time that isn't explored in canon, you could just note that this story takes place before the canon story. If Luna's personality and role are still the same, you don't need to go into more detail.
