Storyline Specific Information: It is the year 2015, and finally the world's most anticipated MMORPG, Sailor Art Online, has just been released. Thousands of players from all over the world are excited to enter the Silver Millennium, an artificial world covered in monsters, weapons, unique scenery, and most importantly, adventure.
Liera Smith, excited, scored a copy for herself and for her college roommate and best friend, Daeka Loukas.
As the time of release neared, Liera slipped on her NerveGear, created an avatar, selected her preferred class, Swordswoman, and threw herself into the game.
But unknown to her or anyone else playing the game, the person behind the Silver Millennium has other plans for them. Liera soon heard distress calls that the logout button was missing; she didn’t much mind – she hadn’t planned on logging out soon anyway – but the information unsettled her for the close connection the NerveGear had with their minds and bodies outside the game, and fixing such a huge error could prove challenging to the developers… how could they download a patch while still in the program?
Before long, players are taken by surprise when a bell rings, summoning them all to the main city in the game. Once all players had assembled, a strange figure shrouded in dark clouds appeared, telling them that they were all stuck in the game until they beat all 100 floors of the game's main dungeon: D Point. To add to the panic, the figure also revealed that if the players tried to remove their Nerve Gear, or if someone in the outside world removed it, the Gear's microwave transceivers will fry the player's brain and kill them. Additionally, if they die in the game, they die in real life.
This news sends the players in the Silver Millennium into complete chaos, all fearful for their life, but Liera is determined – she won’t die, and she’d try her best not to let other people die, either. She’d use her knowledge of RPG games to try to make it through as quickly as possible – and to do that, she had to leave quickly. Taking Daeka’s hand – she was a healer, and she wasn’t about to abandon her best friend – she rushed out of the city and started carving a bloody path towards the first floor of the dungeon.
Who will make it to the 100th floor, and what will be lost along the way?
Additional Information: Liera Smith is currently attending a state university and is finishing up an undergrad program in Mechanical Engineering. Being one of the only women in her program has given her many advantages and disadvantages – many doors opened for her so she could be the token underrepresented person, but then it is automatically assumed she is in on her being a girl alone, and not on any talent. To combat this, Liera strives competitively with her peers, fighting to outperform them no matter the platform – Physics or mathematics test? Done. Material design challenge? She’ll take you on. Logic puzzles? No problem – and oftentimes comes out on-top or tied with the top, earning her (grudging at first, but eventually turning towards friendly) respect from others in her program. Favorite collegiate pasttimes include serving on the university’s Lunar Rover team, where they had to design, build, test, and drive an extremely light-weight and easy to maneuver moon buggy, and race it against other college teams for a prize and recognition from NASA, and serving as a mentor in the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), an outreach program aimed at middle school girls to show them that girls belong in the hard sciences as much as boys do.
As for what got her into this mess, Liera’s always loved role-playing games, especially JRPG’s. She had dabbled in MMO’s, and during high school had been in a really successful all-girls group in one of the more popular games, but with her studies she had stepped away from the MMO scene, only returning when word of Sailor Art Online and the NerveGear reached the states, the platform only too enticing.
As for her relationship with psychology student, Daeka Loukas, the pair had been randomly matched up as roommates and became quick, if unlikely, friends; and now Liera takes full responsibility for what happens in game to her.
Liera is honest, if a little abrasive, and thoughtful, if impatient. She doesn’t like to wait around if a solution could be tried or tested, and will think quickly to make changes on the go – it’s made her a good engineer, if a little frustrating to work with.
RP Sample:
Well, that's interesting, Liera thought as she slashed through another trash mob, working in as many jumps as she could to work up her Acrobatics skill. As the monsters exploded into pixels, she paused, taking a breath. It was just the first day, only a few hours in - she didn't need to rush to level up, she could stop and smell the roses. She closed her eyes, listening to the sounds of the person fighting far to her left, the grumbling hiss of the snake monster ahead of her, and the gentle crashing of the waves below. She enjoyed the feel of the straight blade in her hand, the cool sensation of the wind from the bluff moving her hair - it all felt so real... but then panicked voices echoed over the area; her brows furrowed as she listened carefully, attempting to pick out what they were saying, but they were just too far away.
She opened up her skills menu and exchanged
Acrobatics for
Straining, and tried again. This time, the voices were a little clearer. "
I can't log out! I don't have a log out button!"
"
Are you sure? It's right beneath the -- huh... it was right there... Maybe it's in a sub-menu?""No! I can't find it anywhere! I need to log off - I have work in the morning! This is stupid! You'd think they'd've checked for this before release!!"Liera opened her eyes, held up her hand to ward off questions, and opened her character menu again.
Logout
was missing.
And then bells sounded in the first city, calling them back in for a system announcement; she glanced over to Daeka's character - Sailor Achelois in this world - and nodded her head in that direction. They might as well head in and see what this was all about.

| Sailor Name: Sailor Enyalius Class: Swordswoman Element: Energy
Avatar Outfit: In Sailor Art Online, attire is always changing as players level up and acquire newer, stronger gear. Like all others in the game, when she started, Liera, as Sailor Enyalius, wore cloth attire with metallic armaments, primarily colored in yellow to show her elemental affiliation. As she levels and other characters split into support classes, she is eventually able to request specifics from armorcrafters and finds a favorite style and tries to stick to it. As she levels and attains higher titles, this outfit may change.
Sailor Enyalius, like all swordspersons, wears a long coat as the primary feature of her armor. Hers is black and made of a fine metallic mesh, lending itself to ease of movement. It is collared, sleeveless, mostly open in the front and ends at the thick of her calves. As pictured to the left, the outer coat peepholes to show her chest, but then gathers again at the thick belt around her waist before splitting to either side of her. Her undercoat - for the shirt pictured is attached to her outer coat through careful seams on either side - is made of dark steel plating, a durable and strong material shaped to fit her figure snugly to provide greater protection in battle. The plate mail ends just below her belt, but forms protective plates on either side of her hips for protection and to push the rest of her coat away from her legs to provide even greater maneuverability; the top of the armor is plated with copper, and forms a sweetheart neckline. Below her waist, she wears short black shorts, leaving much of her tan thighs exposed before her boots start, just above her knees. Her boots are plated in darksteel, but accented with strong, curving copper designs that start at her heels and work their way up her boots, circling the reinforced knee plate. More darksteel plating protects her upper arms, again accented and piped with yellowy-copper. She wears black fingerless gloves reinforced at the wrist and back of her hand with darksteel, piped with copper.
Her sword is either strapped behind her back (equipped longsword) or sheathed at the belt on her waist.
Skills: At the beginning of the game, avatars can only equip two skills that they can train; more increments are awarded as they level up. Below are all of Sailor Enyalius's skills; as she levels, skills will be bolded to show which she has access to; levels will start to appear beside bolded skills to show her effectiveness at using each skill.
