Appearance: His true form is that of an adorable brown sea otter, 5 feet in length and weighs 70 lbs. The fur around his face is lighter in color. When in human form, he looks quite dashing; standing at six feet tall with blonde hair, twinkling blue eyes, and chiseled jaw. His preference for attire typically involves long capes for dramatic flair and form-fitting suits or shirts to show off his toned figure. His attire style is dramatic, classy, and elegant. He also usually wears a white scarf that he claims is his trademark.



Personality: Narcisse is your typical Casanova. He knows his human form is drop dead gorgeous and he likes to flaunt it. Flirting is his number one hobby and he often gets easily distracted by girls. Narcisse talks a big game, but all his bluster is actually just a mask for his insecurity. (Not about his looks; he’s quite confident about that.) His failure to protect his original charge dealt a huge blow to his ego, which back then was not quite as big. But ever since that incident, his bad traits—vanity and carelessness—were magnified and he became ten times worse.

Deep down, he cares about his charges. Of course he does. Otherwise he wouldn’t have been so crushed when his first one was killed. But he doesn’t have the courage to admit it, and so his attempt to help his current one just makes things worse. Pride is definitely Narcisse’s biggest weakness; it would take him a lot to admit that he’s wrong or that he’s failed. He really just wants to be a good guardian, but at this point he’s not even sure anymore that he knows how. Part of him wishes he’d just get punished for eternity, because then at least he can stop trying and failing again and again.

Narcisse’s strength is his charisma; he’s a smooth talker and can pretty much talk gullible people into just about anything, especially if they’re the female variety (not saying he can’t attract men, he’s just less adept at using his charm with them). His weakness is his cowardice and his penchant for chasing pretty girls willy-nilly, sometimes forgetting his duty. He doesn’t really ever show his true self to anyone because he’s afraid people will discover that deep down he’s not as interesting as he makes himself out to be. Hence why he creates this mask of a cool guy who’s above everyone else. Narcisse doesn’t have any dreams beyond winning girls’ hearts (and protecting his charge, though he denies it himself), but he’s someone who only likes the chase. Once he’s gotten the person he wants, he’ll usually get bored and move on to the next one.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Pulling the adorable sea otter face to get anyone to say yes or take pity on him. Oozing charm in order to win girls’ hearts. Also swimming, but preferably not in human form, and less preferably in his expensive clothes.
 
History: Narcissus started out as the guardian of the original Sailor Andromeda; Princess Nerida Alderran. He was summoned from his own planet (name long forgotten) when he was young by the royal family and trained to become their advisor. A prophecy predicted the appearance of a senshi for Andromeda, and he was soon tasked to guide this senshi upon her awakening. He knew it was Nerida the moment he was born because of the bond that instantly became forged between them.

He was the one who awakened Nerida when the time was right and trained her, until the threat of the sea monster first appeared. Not being a fighter himself, even in human form, he had merely advised her and watched the fight from the sidelines. He didn’t manage to instill enough confidence in Nerida, and that was why she proceeded to ask for Percy’s help when he came along. He didn’t realize it at the time, but in a way, by staying silent, he too did not have enough confidence in her. In fact, he’d been relieved when another hero came along and agreed to help Nerida with her monster problem. He actually thought, Now that there’s a man on board, they can take care of this threat.

He hadn’t believed in his own senshi.

That one thought was the one that kept haunting him when Nerida was inevitably swallowed by the sea monster. He was horrified when he saw it, and witnessing the whole thing had left him considerably traumatized. He deemed himself a failure and pretty much gave up on everything for three centuries. He went into hiding, avoiding the royal family, his shame too great to face them after the tragedy that happened.

But then a new Sailor Andromeda was born.

Narcisse had been watching Kira since she was a girl, but from afar. He knew that someday she would be destined to take up the mantle of her predecessor—he could feel it in the bond that was forming between them. But he didn’t dare come close. He’d messed up things so badly last time; what if he only made things worse again this time?

And then the sea monster resurfaced. And he watched as Kira was offered up as the sacrifice to appease it, horrified but still too paralyzed to do anything. He was about to watch yet another senshi he was supposed to guide die before his eyes, this time before she even awakened to her great destiny.

It took him way too long to move, but when the sea monster did appear, he made up his mind and swam into the ocean. He was too far away to make it in time, though. Kira awakened on her own, and defeated the sea monster herself. Without his help.

It just cemented his belief that she didn’t need him. That no one needed him. She was better off without him after all.

He spent the next four years watching Kira train herself and learn how to become a senshi on her own. With every day that passed, he felt even more wretched for his absence. He should be there, guiding her and teaching her. He’d seen the loneliness in her eyes, how broken she was because she could no longer trust anyone. How alone she felt in her own home.

Yet he still couldn’t make himself known.

And then the time that passed became too much and there was no point in showing himself anymore. Kira had become an accomplished senshi on her own, learning of Earth and Crystal Tokyo, saving other planets and facing Chaos several times. She even fixed a leftover problem from Nerida’s spirit—freed her, gave her peace, and received the legendary weapon of Andromeda all on her own.

Her senshi never needed him.

So Narcisse remained in hiding, thinking it was better this way after all.

But just when he had accepted this new life and became comfortable with it, fate was about to throw a wrench in his plans, as it was wont to do.

RP Sample: Narcisse really was proud of his charge—that wasn’t really his. She’d grown up so much in just a few short years. He was always worried whenever she came rushing to Crystal Tokyo to take care of another crisis, and had begun to wonder why she felt so determined to save the world. He knew she wasn’t content here, sure. But he really wished that didn’t make her borderline suicidal.

After all, it was her strong will to survive and live that had awakened her senshi powers.

It wasn’t him at all.

He watched as she appeared now, apparently back from her latest mission. She landed deftly on the castle courtyard, her wings disappearing the moment she touched down. Relief flooded him as he saw her safe and sound. She didn’t look injured at all, but then again Crystal Tokyo probably had the best healers.

They’d better fix her up properly if they were going to continue using her services.

He couldn’t help but feel awe watching her confident stride, how comfortable she was in her skin and how sure of herself she was. She used to be scared and confused in the beginning. That was when he should’ve been there for her. And especially at that moment on the rock when she needed him the most.

He felt the familiar twinge of pain in his heart.

It doesn’t matter now, he told himself, just like he’d done a thousand times. It’s too late. And she doesn’t need you anymore. She never needed you.

He kept watching until she disappeared back into the castle, and smiled wistfully.

Maybe he should go into town and flirt with some of those peasant girls to lift up his spirits. They always did adore him so.
