Storyline Name: [Advanced] Lovely Dragonriders: The Shade King

Plot Summary: There is a mystic land, populated by many mystical species. The peace has been kept by thousands of years by the Argetlam, the Dragon Riders, Elves and Humans who have bonded with Dragons. They are among the most magically talented, and the subject of awe and respect, both riders and mounts. But a new danger has come to their land, a king possessed by evil spirits and a desire for revenge who has begun a rampage, killing dragons at every chance he gets, aided by the power given to him by the spirits that have possessed his body, transforming him into the Shade King. And only a group of five Dragon Riders, based on the canon senshi that we know and love, dare to undertake the task. But will they be able to get along and learn to cooperate to defeat this new evil, that comes in the form of an evil King who seeks revenge on the Dragons and has plans to wipe out their race.

But their task will become much more difficult when one of their own falls in love with the evil king, and her love is returned, in a way? They must now find a way to heal rather than kill the king, if they are to save their dearest friends and save their home.

Details on any necessary information: Based on the books from Eragon, the Inheritance Cycle. the girls are dragon riders, though you can decide if they are human or elves. Please note that humans will look fairly elfin but not completely. They will have dragons, which you can design and will control. Dragons are telepathic, very intelligent, and VERY closely bonded with their rider. Usagi will of course have a black dragon named Luna, Minako will have a white dragon named Artemis, and Rei will have a deformed two headed dragon named Phobos and Deimos. You can use this doll maker to design your dragon! Doll Divine Dragon Maker

Usagi and Mamoru will of course be needed. Usagi you can decide if she is an elf or a human, and she can have a crystal heirloom with some healing powers if she's an elf, but nothing like the canon. Mamoru will be the evil king seeking to destroy dragons, because dragons killed his parents. Probably an accident but up to you. Also the girls will require new names as this is a fantasy setting, which will be up to you. You can pick a character from the inner or outer senshi, but ultimately there will only be 2 inner and 2 outer senshi in addition to Mamoru and Usagi's characters.

The general plot is the girls all volunteer to face the king, do preperation, travel to his evil kingdom, somewhere along the way Usagi and him will meet and they'll fall in love, not recognizing each other for who they are, which happens because the still good part of Mamoru travels his kingdom, ala Moonlight Knight, trying to repair some of the harm he's done to his kingdom, so probably he and Usagi meet a handful of times along the way. And then the final battle where the girls combine their and their dragons power to heal Mamoru of the evil spirits that have possessed him because of his desire for revenge and essentially brainwashed him.

They can speak like an ancient language but parentheses or asterisks or italics can be used to show when they're talking in the ancient language. They can perform spells using the ancient language or silently if they're REALLY skilled, though if a newer or unskilled magic user tries doing spells silently, it's possibly they'll get distracted and disasterous results can follow.

Also, dragon riders can feel the life force of everything around them, animals, insects, birds etc., and will feel what death is like when a creature dies and they may be connected with it. This has led majority of Dragon Riders to be vegetarians, but humans are capable of overcoming this and continue to eat meat. Elves are probably vegetarian to begin with.

Dragon riders also carry swords whose coloring matches that of their dragon, and they are able to store energy in the pommel for future use. Generally gems can hold a very large amount of energy, with diamonds being able to hold the most amount. So it's likely they could have jewelry where they store energy for future need. They can take energy from any source, as long as it's living, which includes animals,insects, and plants. Spells that heal wounds require the same amount of energy it would take to heal naturally, so it's usually not recommended to heal wounds with your own energy in your body.

Can you please mention that the Senshi are the dragon riders in your summary, and highlight your change? I really didn't know who the summary was referring to until I read the details on necessary information part.

Also, please mention what the new danger is as well in your summary.

i'm honestly not sure how to mention the senshi are the dragon riders. 1. because they're not senshi anymore in this roleplay and 2. i don't know which character is going to be played for the roleplay.

Also, I know they aren't Senshi, but just the girls in general (just how I referred to them, sorry for the confusion). I understand you don't know who will be played, but you did mention five of them....

Are only the first 5 of this list that are claimed going to be played? Do you need all of them?

I think this is where my confusion lies.

i did specify in my restrictions. the only certain characters needed are Usagi and Mamoru. Mamoru is the evil king, and of course he and Usagi fall in love. and of course they get different names, with it being a different setting, which the player has to come up with so i have no idea in the faintest what it could be.

the other 4 characters i'd like to see being as 2 inner characters and 2 outer characters, to mix things up rather than just doing the typical "it's Usagi and her inner senshi!" i see a lot. i chose Setsuna, so that covers a outer senshi...but the other outer senshi and the 2 inner senshi are completely in the air and dependant on players who want to join this roleplay.

i figured giving the choice would allow more freedom also for people who like certain characters...you know, how some might really like Haruka or Rei specifically.

I understand you mentioned Usagi and Mamoru, but it was in paragraph context, so i wasn't 100% sure they were needed/ part of the 5 dragon riders or not, or if you were allowing all 10 characters to participate.

This is contradicting by you first saying they are all open, and only indicating you would like to see, rather needed. If you want only 2 inner and 2 outer along with Mamoru and Usagi, please clarify in the Necessary Details section as well so it isn't contradicting, or remove it and only keep the Restrictions. Then also mention first come first serve regarding who the 2 inner senshi and 2 outer senshi are.

the other language is the so named Ancient Language.

and i removed the implication that all characters were playable, and fixed it so it matched the restrictions.

Saturn asked me in to look over the storyline cause I know the Inheritance Cycle XD So! A few questions from me!

first thing:

1. Why "Eldunari: Dragon Hearts" when the dragons' Heart of Hearts aren't mentioned within the plotline itself? ((If it was more of a placeholder, might I suggest looking for a phrase in the Ancient Language about barriers or crossing fords to represent trying to get over the barriers around Endymion's mind towards dragons?))

2. When you say

Are you insinuating that Mamoru is in fact a shade and this will be the first ever attempt not to kill a shade, but to free the spirits trapped within, thus releasing the victim from their influence? ((I mean cause that'd be super interesting to have them going up against a Shade King, intending to kill it, only to have one of their own fall in love with Mamoru ((Through dreams maybe? Dreams the mental scraps of his former-self project to separate him from the madness and that now controls his body and mind, which Usagi brushes up against during unconscious hours, not exactly knowing who or what it is she's talking to until it all becomes clear that Mamoru has not been completely erased by the shade)) and thus Usagi cannot bring herself to agree to fight him directly and the group as a whole has to find another way to free the malevolent spirits without killing the host))


3. Small thing:

When Eragon was escaping with Sloan from Helgrind, he used plants to replenish his strength, and it was part of the Dragon Rider training to recognize the plant life around them and know that they could take energy from plants as well as animals should they be of need; is there a reason this is different in this storyline?

i went through and capitalized. also added that the ancient language could be shown as italics. i'll have to discuss this with the players to figure out the most preferred method.

1. i chose Eldunari and Dragon Hearts because i was struggling to find a title for the roleplay. i've always liked how the word Eldunari sounds and the power behind them...and i guess i just chose Dragon Hearts, because there was going to be romance in the roleplay, a minor focus on Usagi and Mamoru. i thought it sounded like an impressive title, and silly if you knew about Eragon and knew how redundant the title was.

2. well no, i hadn't really intended on Mamoru being a shade, because he's certainly not posessed with hundreds of spirits like Durza was. I thought it was just amusing to be a play on the "oh hey, he's still getting brainwashed!" sort of thing. but your idea is very interesting so now i'm not sure anymore. where were you when i was trying to figure this out in the rp activity chat?T_T

3. no i just honestly couldn't remember if they took energy from plants, because it's been about 2-3 years since i did my read through of all the books. the biggest thing i remember about the taking of energy was Eragon when he was preparing for battle, and sitting near the cooking tent, taking the energy from the multitude of dying animals to store in his belt and such. and when he first took energy from his surroundings, causing mice,insects and such to die. i honestly don't remember anything about taking energy from plants.

1. XD I guess to me it's, idk, out of place? Like if someone made a AU rp where the girls were reborn without senshi abilities and it was just about them enjoying normal life without any evil conflict in it at all, and calling it "Sailor War" XD  I mean if Mamoru and Usagi were dragons then maybe "Eldunari" would be appropriate because it would be about dragons falling in love (with their dragon hearts)(and all the fun implications therein -- could they perhaps bond the same way riders bonded with dragons? would they trust each other with their eldunari? what would happen if one of them were to die? all fun stuff involving eldunari XD)  Maybe for this though, something in the ancient language - and keep it in the ancient language because it grabs attention - but about what the rp would be about?

2. ^^ in my mind, having Mamoru as a shade would make it 
--open to more of a conflict (even Elves fear Shades and Dragons are wary of them, and if he were powerd by spirits he could take on dragons by himself and be more of a credible threat within the Alagaesian canon setting), 
--gives a clear defining line between Mamoru and Evil-King-Mamoru (bahaha shade name Endymion?) 
--and provides an opportunity for a solution - it would give them something to "cure", in one shot (climax of story) with strong goals and morals in mind (finding a way to expel the spirits from within his body without destroying Mamoru's original mind or body being the climb and provide some conflict - would they need to contact spirits, like Eragon and Arya came across when returning from Helgrind, to see if they would help or offer a solution? Would they need to delve deep into books, or would they attempt to create a spell of their own making in an effort to expel the malevolent spirits, seeing as spirits just wanted to escape anyway, and resent being cooped up in a body?),

rather than attempting to change his thoughts and mind and heart about dragons, which, given that he had to have convinced what must have been an army of warriors and spell casters to take dragons down and oppose the entire Elven nation (who would not have hesitated to fight alongside the dragons to save the dragons) (I mean the dragons alone would be over-matched for Humans, who didn't have the natural magical ties that the elves did during the dragon wars and so couldn't hope to have won any kind of outward force of dragons to begin with)(and a human/elf war would be far from fair on the human side...)  would be too hard to tie up and win organically without resorting to brainwashing Mamoru to make him forget or work through his hatred.

Like I feel that if the human people knew their young king had turned into a Shade, they would want to work with the Dragon Riders to help. They would be too afraid of the King to actively try anything themselves - a shade can take down several spellcasters, let alone ordinary people - but they wouldn't resent the dragon riders for coming in to assist them, as they might if the King had convinced them to go along with him.

3. Thank you for adding plants back in XD If you don't believe me I can give you page numbers? Lol I started a reread of the Inheritance Cycle in May at the end of the school year so it's all fresh.

hmmm...none of those really feel right. see i did try to use words from the ancient language of the title...but some of them felt too...sharp? intimidating? not easily understood? somewhere in that realm. i really wanted to use something involved Shur'tugal, since it is dragon rider related, but i felt it would make the title too long. i'll try browsing through the wiki again and see if anything sparks.

and i...definitely think i'm gonna use the "mamoru is a shade" idea now. it just works so awesome and makes things easier...and hey, a little "moonlight knight" action with them falling in love! like maybe a fragment of his humanity has broken free, and at times roams the land trying to help his frightened people. meaning they could meet in a dream, and maybe a tavern at some point. interesting things to work out with merc and moonie. i'll have to drag them into a group chat for that...XD

  Yaaaaaas! The pure soul of Mamoru reaching out, knowing that in his rage and sadness he had done something terrible (haha summoning A SHADE YOU KNOW) and is attempting to atone for it as best he can, even going so far as to take the magical ability from the spirits that have taken him order in order to appear in people's minds~   XD I love it yay!

I think as soon as you feel out a more fitting name for the RP and edit whatever final decisions you make about Mamoru into the opening post, this baby should be ready to go! 

 I would be interested in joining if it were a different time - I need to wrap up a lot of the RP's I'm in before I accept any more @.@  But if you ever need any help or ideas for keeping it more canon-lined than alagaesia-au-lined, I'm here!

alright so i've changed the title to Lovely Dragonriders: The Shade King(subtitle Nuanen Shur'tugalar un du Konungr abr Sundavar), thanks to the help of kyra, and i'm adding in the fact that evil king mamoru is a shade whom the girls will attempt to heal.
