So, this lady at my job told me today that they're replaying Sailor Moon on Nickelodean. (She was completely serious, too.) Obviously this is not true, so I was wondering what show is similar? o-o

Please don't tell me she was talking about Winx or whatever it is. The show about...fairies I think.

THAT'S WHAT I WAS ASSUMING. I have no idea. I just nodded my head and went with it. "Yeah, I'll have to check it out! Definitely!" while thinking she doesn't know who she's talking to.

Nooooooo!!! I used to baby sit a little girl who was OBSESSED with them. That show scares me.

Wasn't Winx that show where every single girl bares their midriff and has huge bobble-heads? ... Okay~.

4kids made a horrible dub. I watched a few episodes of another english dub and it was better. But Winx is meh.

I was going to say if it was on 4 Kids awhile ago I would have said Tokyo Mew Mew/ Mew Mew Power. But that has been gone from there for awhile also. Which would make better sense then Winx Club, other then that I don't know I don't watch Nick.

Tokyo Mew Mew is a good assumption, but like you said I haven't seen that on TV in forever.

Tokyo Mew Mew has been out for a long time... I'd say it's pretty similar in the fact is has a group of Teens, that battle bad monsters from space each day.. Love interests are similar.. I think SM is darker, and better thought out.. but overall, same.. "genre" if you will.

Yeah Tokyo Mew Mew has the similar concept has Sailor Moon. But it's shorter and isn't as complex as Sailor Moon plot wise. Though the anime is better than the manga. Anyway, precure is other magical girl anime series that is similar to Sailor Moon though it has never aired here in the states. 4kids did want to dub it though.

The magical girl genre tends to have a lot of series which overlap in terms of style and story progression. Since Sailor Moon is so incredibly renowned, I imagine the confusion is quite frequent when other magical girl series emerge.

Winx looks like the strongest candidate, unless your coworker has somehow confused a teenage Tony Stark (Iron Man: Armored Adventures) for Sailor Mercury and Son Goku (Dragon Ball Z Kai) for Sailor Moon.

I think Winx is prolly the winner, I know Nick was making these weird announcements about how it's now a TV series.. which I already thought it was but any who..

Nick made a new season for Winx. I think. I could be wrong.

Actually you guys are probably right, i seem to remember hearing about Nickelodeon picking up a new version of Winx. Also according to this wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winx_Club

The first special aired June 27, the second special on August 1, and the third special on September 18, and the fourth and final special aired on October 16. Beginning on November 14, Nickelodeon will start airing Season 3 every weekday. They will also co-produce the upcoming fifth and sixth seasons."

I know originally 4 Kids dubbed Winx (its originally an Italian animated show) and I've heard they didn't do that great of a job compared to its original format. 4Kids pretty much did what they do to every other animated kids show they pick up, completely change and ruin it. That is what they did to Tokyo Mew Mew when it aired in the US. They didn't even finish the series from what I understand. It was called Mew Mew Power and basically they changed it like Dic had did Sailor Moon. Americanized names, changed the attack names, music, etc. etc. I would have figured considering how most companies dub anime pretty faithfully (even at the time period when 4Kids picked up, it was becoming common practice). But apparently I don't think 4Kids is dubbing anime with faithful fans in mind. they are just making it for kids. Oh well.

Wow i didn't mean to go off on a huge tangent there. Anyway, I've seen people post about Winx occasionally on tumblr so thats why I know so much. XD

I know people used to get Sakura: Card Captors a little mixed up? But then that's an old anime too, nowhere near as big as Sailor Moon and the questionably popular Winx. So yeah, it's probably Winx.

What Brit-chan said is true and true about Tokyo Mew Mew, I watched it and was so displeased with it I am glad they took it off, 4 Kids just goes for kids. They completely took out kissing scenes and all the scenes to explain things but anyways, if it was recent I agree with the Winx.

Actually, for most grandparents cartoons and all anime are all the same! I can tell you about it... It is terrible sometimes! I have to make sure when they take care of my 3 years old son they won't put something like ``Ninja Scroll``on for example!!! They think all animated episodes or movies are made for kids!!!

So of course, I wouldn't be surprised if they confused 2 or 3 different anime shows!
