| To be honest, I'm quite disappointed in the majority of the 20th Anniversary merchandise. A lot of it looks really tacky or like bootleg items especially the bags/purses and the plush! The plush and figures (megahouse chibi figures) seems to be lacking and a lot of them don't even have the character's individual eye design... And I've heard the set of Compact Gashapon all have a factory flaw where they don't close all the way? And the prices seem pretty ridiculous... $50 for panties? Really? $100 more when it comes with a bra? Those Figuarts figures seem really nice and depict each character the best out of any of the items, I also like the sets of keychains too. But the plush and those little Megahouse chibi figures just don't really look like Sailormoon characters when I think of the classic animation style of Toei. I'm really disappointed. Now I've never handled a GE plush but they sure look a lot better then what Bandai has come out with, my only pet peeve is they went so out of their way to have all the outlines and detail on them yet neglect having crescent moons on Moon's boots! What do you guys think? I wonder if any actual dolls will be made? I wonder how they will look? Hopefully better then those recent creepy ones Italy came out with..... |

| I agree that some of the plushies look a little funny xD And some of the items look like costume jewlery, which I guess it is really, but they don't look as great xD I do love the compact's casing, the pens, and I'd love to have the nail polish set xD Being the nail polish junkie I am, I can use them for actual purposes and decoratively xD
All in all I think it has some pretty good stuff and some just okay things. Maybe they'll release more sometime and make them look a little better xD |

| I'm glad I'm not the only ones that find some things pricey. Wooohoo! Spend 50 dollars on an item that is made out of plastic! Like seriously I saw a pen/pointer going for 30 dollars. That's a waste of money imo. |

| They are definitely a waste of money for those that are practical, such as apparently us three xD But I guess the fact of owning one(or multiple) as collector's items is worth the price to some people? Otherwise they wouldn't keep making stuff for it =o I tried looking on ebay for some of this stuff since I was told it was only sold in Japan. They want like 200 dollars for 5 little tiny nail polishes. It's freakin insane xD You'd be better off buying the materials and spending the time researching how to make your own xD |

| There were three things I collected in my life. Pokemon cards, Beanie Babies, and Yugioh Cards. I don't collect those things anymore. Although I did buy a pack of XY pokemon cards over the weekend. My friend and I were being silly. XD
But yeah some of this stuff just seems pointless to me. Like the nail polish. XD You can just get the colors you need and make the designs you want. The figures seem cool and that's about it for me. I really never understood why people collect anime figures. I would just play with them like action figures. XD |

| I actually quite like the plushies and the Chibi figures. The Petit Chara ones are adorable and I intend to collect them all. If you look at the plushies and keychains, they're already so much better than the 10th anniversary versions. I think it's important to understand that they might not be able to put in as many details as in the animation itself in 3D version. Then again I guess I didn't have any expectations and was just happy enough to embrace them all ^^
Some of them are definitely expensive, and moreover, exclusive to Japan (like the Premium Bandai items) which make them even more expensive when resold in other sites. I wish they would try to cater all the fans instead of just the local ones, because those new Outers wand pointers that came out are too pretty T_T Some of them are collectors/limited edition items, so it's understandable that they cost a lot. They're meant to target the really avid collectors for whom money isn't an issue when it comes to the things they love.
I'm not a fan of the majority of the apparel merch and some do look like they were hastily thrown together with not much thought, but I'm glad because otherwise I'd be even more broke than I already am XD When it's good, I think it's really good, though. For the most part, with the things I've bought, I've felt like I've gotten my money's worth. |

| But all the previous merchandise released during the 5 year broadcast and the Sailormoon World line did pay more attention to character detail then now. Just compare any old Banpresto plush with a new Bandai one.... I find all the older merchandise has much more personality and appeal. I mean yeesh even Irwin dolls and plush had all the correct eyes! I just think with one of Japan's most beloved series they would put a bit more effort into the products... |

| I'm just annoyed because I feel like they're coming out with a million versions of each new piece of merchandise and I'm like yeah okay I'm not going to spend money on this when I already bought one... Like the petit figures and the keychains especially. |

| I've gotten a few things, but not a monstrous amount of stuff. most of it practical actually like pens that I do use and the paper clip things. those are really handy. I'm going to use the phone cases when they come. So far the only thing i've gotten that has no real purpose has been the compacts.
I agree with Mercury on the apparel they look thrown together and honestly why would someone want sailor moon under ware? what' the point of that? really. |

| I was just looking at the Bandai Saturn plush, and the material they used for the collars and skirts etc, I see places where that fabric is unraveling..... It's just really saddening to me... then again remember all the brown haired Japanese dolls where the hair would break off at the scalp[ |

| I must say I'm not that familiar with old merch, I've only seen a couple pictures of plushies and they didn't really interest me. But maybe there are better ones out there ^^ I never liked any of the dolls though, they scare me >_> |

| I have an older Tux plushies that I know of and i think a few others. Since i've got to clean up a few things I'll know for sure, but honestly with the sewing skills I gained in Home Ec. in high school i can make a better one. and my mom is a mad sewing Ninja. |

| To be honest I have mixed feelings too. But I am really excited about the Kanzenban editions of the manga. However, I've been on the fence about getting them. I don't want to buy them and then they eventually reprint them in English... |

| I think some of you are forgetting that all of the merchandise being released (that is not made by Great Eastern Animation) is being catered to the Japanese market and not any other market. The reason the panties and lingerie is so expensive is because the line that makes them is basically the Japanese equivalent to Victoria Secret. Have you bought panties from that store? Unless they are on sale, their panties aren't cheap. Same goes with their bras. Which is why I wasn't too shocked at the 2 panties for $45 price on Jlist.
Most of this merchandise is being catered to mid 20-30 year old women in Japan who see it and go "Oh hey I remember that show! Oh look how cute! So nostalgic!" that type of thing. Thats why we aren't seeing any dolls or things like that. The Sailor Moon 20th Anniversary is simply not being catered to the demographic the original anime and toys aimed for in the past (which was little girls).
For the most part I like the merch. I thought the patterned bag designs were cute (if i'm thinking of the same ones). The gashapon stuff is supposed to be cheap because its like going to the gumball machine to get a toy except they are all over the place in japan and have better toys in them. But considering each of those mini gashapon compacts are about $5 each, i'm not really surprised they aren't the highest of quality. I preordered the 2nd shipment from JList so I'll see how mine are when I get them. From pictures I've seen, they look really cute with maybe very small defects on them. I think one tumblr user showed there was a small drip of paint on one and a small scratch on the other.
I haven't looked at any details of the plushies. I thought the Chibi Moon one was cute when I saw a picture and was thinking about getting her. The only plushie I owm is the Sailor Moon one released by GE, and I thought it was pretty good considering she was only about $12.
As for the Figuarts, I think they are amazing so far. I love their paint jobs and details. They are really nice. Well worth the money if you ask me. I doubt I'll by the Zero figures (the more expensive ones) because its bad enough i'm buying all the figuarts and spending money on that...
I'm used to seeing easily over $50 for a figure in dealer rooms at anime cons (at least the few i've been to) so the price of the figurarts don't really throw me off. Generally I get them for about $35 off Amazon without shipping.
I would say just buy what you are interested in. Lingerie or cups or plates might not cater to your taste, but someone else out there likes it and there's obviously a market for it in Japan if they are making all that stuff. |

| Yeah I agree with Small Lady especially about the figures. All the figures seem really nice and worth the price. Hopefully I get a job soon because I would like to buy some myself before the price goes up. (I really want a Tifa Lockhart figure but she's expensive and not worth the price. ) I don't like plushies so I haven't paid much attention to them and I don't really like toys so I haven't paid attention to the compacts. I guess we all should just focus and set a goal so we can buy the things we do want ya? |

| I'm one of those sad people that will buy it if it has what i like on it. I am worse about it with My Little Pony. Thankfully this stuff IS in Japan and not readily available in like Target or WalMart or Hot Topic because i would be horridly broke buying a plastic cup and plate set and whatever the heck else they've made. |

| After reading Small Lady's input, I do agree on the most part of everything she said. I DO like the fact that the new merchandise is more targeted at the older fan/collectors who grew up with the series during the 90's. I just find the quality and look of some of these items a little sub par...
Now as for dolls, well if there's a new anime series coming out, can we expect merchandise like dolls to be released?
Just a little side note- I think Naoko's artwork on the new editions are beautiful!! And very nostalgic to the same audience as her style looks more like her original style. |

| For dolls, I'm not so sure. Its hard to say this early. Since it seems they aren't marketing this 20th anniversary project at young girls and so far the anime is only going to be a web release, I don't see dolls coming. If it were announced to also be tv broadcasted in japan i would have more hope for dolls.
However, we could see something like what Hasbro has done with the new Jem dolls. Basically make the super expensive collectible dolls. The new line of Jem dolls have been a special collection done by the doll maker company, Integrity. They are SUPER high quality, very accurate dolls. And are they AMAZING rocking a high $150/$200 (I don't remember the exact price) price tag.
If we were to get Sailor Moon dolls release in that kind of quality, I'd say screw it and charge each and every one of them to a credit card. xD |
