Have you ever posted in progress pics when you make your papercrafts? I'm really curious about the process involved in it, especially the construction of all the pieces and making it looks 3D and stuff.

I've thought about it, but I either end up forgetting to take pictures and/or I'm not sure which steps would be the most interesting/uninteresting to people (i.e. if people just want to see each part after they're completed or the actual process of me gluing stuff together), so I end up not taking any pics. :\ While I do plan some of my construction steps during the design process complex pieces would be impossible to do without planning, I also tend to wing-it quite a bit while I'm constructing these things, so there's no step-by-step manual, so to speak, to making one of these.

I just saw it now! That's incredible work mangaka-chan! I am deeply impressed.

Finished Princess Venus last night! I had to redo/rip apart part of it to redo at one point but in the end it came out really well, I think.

I also took photos of the paper crafting process this time around and will make a making-of post later on. Princess Jupiter is next, though I don’t know if I’ll finish making her before my trip to Asia next week.

And here is Princess Jupiter!  I spent a couple weeks trying to decide how to depict her power/special item, since the lightening alone doesn’t pop out as well, and doing just the oak leaves makes it look a little…well, boring.  XD; In the end, I decided to combine her lightning and oak leaf motifs, so both are represented.

Next-but-not-least for the Inner Senshi, is Princess Mercury!

This is just stunning, wow! I especially love her crown and the gold leaf pattern in the background--the pattern is subtle but so effective. I could look at your papercrafts all day~ Can't wait to see Mercury!

These are beautiful!  I love the details in Jupiter's hair, and the lightening and oak motifs look awesome!

Princess Mercury is done, which means all of the Inner Solar System princesses, sans Moon, is complete. Mercury is a bit of a departure from my previous paper craft pieces as I used the Cricut paper cutting machine to cut out most of the pieces instead of tracing via light box. It cuts down (no pun intended :p) on quite a bit of time and definitely made putting her lyre together easier. This makes me more confident about using this technique for my future pieces and will hopefully facilitate the pace of completing the Sailor Princess series.

This is a gorgeous addition; you create such amazing art!

Really happy with how Princess Neptune turned out. And yes, her mirror is reflective (unfortunately due to the gloomy weather we’re having, there isn’t enough sunlight for a nice flare shot), as you can see with the two middle pictures. I used rubbing alcohol to polish the reflective surface of the “mirror” before I put the talisman together, which is a bit tricky since the material it’s made of is still paper.

Next up will be Neptune’s partner, Uranus, and the half way mark of the Sailor Princess paper craft series! I’ve already got most of Neptune’s components cut out so hopefully I’ll be able to complete her this weekend.

Oh my word, that mirror!  It's beautiful! (So is the rest of her, of course, but I have to keep stopping to stare at the mirror.) 

Uranus’ sword is modeled after the Space Sword from Sailor Moon Crystal, since the manga’s design isn’t always super consistent. I personally prefer the long sword design over the cutlass design; it’s more dramatic and elegant looking, IMO. Like Neptune’s mirror, I used a reflective card stock for the blade of the sword, which is most noticeable in the second photo. The handle is made with a silver matte paper.

Done with Pluto! I was originally going to use a gray and gold paper for the background but I changed my mind at the last minute and went with a magenta colored paper to match Pluto’s broach color. Her figure pops much better with magenta than gray, so I’m happy I made that snap decision. XD Her rod and the garnet orb were cut using a Cricut cutter and assembled with double sided tape and rubber cement. The rod is reinforced with a shaved down bamboo skewer in the back to keep the rod from bending or slouching.
