| Intro to Popcorn Writing Game TLDR Version: We're writing a story together, except no one knows what everyone else is writing. Someone is assigned to write the beginning, someone else has to write the end, and everyone else playing must write a middle piece. A reminder about middle pieces: you don't do any introductions, you don't create a conclusion, it's a straight-up slice from the middle of a book without offered explanations. Once everyone finishes their segment, they send it in to me, I randomize all orders but start and finish, and I post it. Last time people were linked to their segment, but this time there'll be no linking so everything will be kept anonymous; I think this'll be better for critiquing and offering anonymous advice to people. Of course, if a participant would like their segment to be picked over specifically, they can choose to say "Hey, I wrote the opener. Do you think it flows okay?" or whatever. Rules for Popcorn Round Two:
- Story segments must be between 500 and 1000 words
- Random assignment of segment placement; beginning/ending writers will be PM'd
- Dynamic voices, environments, plots -- aka, writer's choice for first or third person, where the story is taking place, and what the story is about. This makes popcorn hilarious and nonsensical even when people are trying hard to make it make sense. XD
- Static Characters: Everyone will use the same character names and general descriptions to tie the story together. Characters will be announced later ((please give ideas here, lol XD))
- Assigned Genres: Given randomly via PM (and a randomzier), you will be assigned a genre to try to write in! You might be handed romance, or thriller, adventure, science-fiction, or teenage-angst story. Heck, I might throw a vampire drama in there just to poke bears. When you sign up, offer up a genre to be added to the randomizer!
