I've always had a theory that Ail and An from the Makajuu arc in the beginning of R and Fiore from the R movie come from the same tree/planet/whatever. However I do know that Ail and An are just filler characters to be in place while Ms. Takeuchi developed the rest of the plot. Plus in their story, Ail and An said that they were the only ones left after their citizens fought against each.

Any opinions on this? I've love to hear some!

Well it depends who came first in the time line. Does the movie come before or after? Also, perhaps the Fiore plot came before and Naoko decided to recycle the character design/history [he had a history with plants, Ali and An had the doom tree] and came up with Ali and An?

Well I believe the R season came first because Chibiusa was in the movie and her character wasn't created yet. But I do like your idea, Sailor V that maybe it was just a recycled plot? I mean they both were characters not featured in the manga. I just wonder if they came from the same home planet.

I think they do, I don`t remember where but I read about it somewhere.
THe R movie is Purely anime made though, the S movie is based on a manga
special and SuperS on Naoko`s idea for another special/plot ^^

I wouldn't draw too many connections between the R movie (or any of the movies for that matter) and the main storyline of the anime. They have a tendency to be inconsistent and overlap poorly with one another. My guess is that Fiore is inspired by Ail and An, but is not directly connected to them canonically.

I wish I could be more elaborate, but the situation isn't terribly elaborate given the information provided.

Actually I was thinking about that the other day and of Toft's topic about Coding, found here. I was trying to place the rose and Tuxedo Kamen with what the symbol of the rose means in Japanese/anime culture. Did no one else think that Fiore's attention with Mamoru was a little more romantic than friendly? I have a feeling that he may have been a little in love with Mamoru.

I only watched the dub, I haven't gotten around to the sub yet (that's a project in itself, to rewatch the episodes and movies in the sub this time) so I may be wrong but I would like to know if anyone else caught this? It must've been fairly obvious because I noticed in a dub for crying out loud!

^.~ Mercury hinted at it in the sub. Well, Ami, rather. And all the girls teased her about it. She was sensing the Fiore/Mamo love~ perchaps Ami is into yaoi? lol.

Fiore might have possibly split up from the group with Makaiju, and An, and Ail thought they were the only ones left when in reality Fiore was still out there somewhere but they had no idea. They did travel from planet to planet a lot so separation could have been viable.
The way it is set Fiore is the first of their race to find Earth, and he returns after An, and Ail have left.

I read somewhere that Fiore's full name is Fioreail and I think they shared animation directors or voice actors or both ^^.

If this was based on character design they would be, without a doubt, from the same planet. The similarities between the three characters are numerous.
