Well anyways, I agree with the last two replies. IF Mamoru was such a mature guy, he would not tease Usagi. He is still a kid however you put it, so he is not a creeper.

I think Mamoru is in that place where he can be mature in many situations but there are situations like Usagi, which bring out his more childish side In the anime he does act mature a lot of the times but during the first season when it comes to her, definitely not mature with her at all xD.

Oh, I do agree Usagi was subcionsciously jealous However, she must have had some idea that dating college students may not be completely ok, if she used that as an excuse for her concern. (I love that scene)

And it was clear for me that they are falling for each other slowly in first season - though I'm not sure they realize this...

Mhmm, both he and Usagi and the rest of the inner senshi have matured a lot since the first season (at least to where I'm up to in SM S) She really started to settle into her role as a mother type figure xD It was really cute to see.

I've had an idea - maybe Mamoru was made a college student to be friends with Motoki?

Yeah but you can be friends with someone who's in college if they're a year or so older than you. IE some of my friends in highschool were two years younger so I went to university and they started grade 12 (I did grade 13)

I can think about one more example of age gap in anime - in SuperS during their powerup episode Mako and Minako fight about adult guy. They are shocked when he turns out to be married with kid, but nobody seems to have a problem that he must be over a decade older.

True- but in this case Motoki doesn't seem as older friend of Mamoru.

They may be within a year or so of each other.

I was just watching the episode where Naru crushed on the mature musician. Usagi didn't seem appalled by the fact he was so much older, just not interested in older men. And he pretty much had wrinkles!
